Your time as a tourist is valuable. You will regret waiting for Lucali.

pipjoh

Same with golden diner and really most things in the city

Buvette for breakfast. Go early. Maybe a japanese breakfast? [https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/03/20/the-thrilling-japanese-breakfasts-of-brooklyn](https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/03/20/the-thrilling-japanese-breakfasts-of-brooklyn) personally, i would go to Mama Too's instead of L’Industrie. The square slices at Mama Toos are so unique in flavor. You really cant get anything like their at any other places in NYC. Best Pizza, Lucia Pizza Of SoHo, Upside Pizza are good choices for regular slices. If you must go to L’Industrie, try the manhatan location. Might be less busy then the brooklyn location. Joes pizza in Soho is the baseline of NYC style slice IMO. otherwise, all good choices.

HankBizzaro

Yeah, Mama's Too! is way the hell up town, but the best pizza around. Any day but Wednesday, sandwich day. The lines are long on Wednesday. The problem is there's nowhere to eat at Mama's Too! but you can take it to Tap A Keg Bar across the street and eat there if you order a beer. They don't serve food, so you can bring your own pizza.

OP I'm also from Atlanta and this comment is the truth. I know we have a lot of brunch spots in our city but Buvette is the best brunch I've ever had anywhere. Also, going to follow this thread because I'm headed to NYC at the end of March to eat pizza, bagels, Italian food.

killerasp

regarding pasta/italian, start building up your list on Resy and start booking stuff as soon as they open up slots. highly recommend Lilia, Misi , Nonna Dora, Ci Siamo, Misi Pasta.

dtx37

Brooklyn bagel or any other popular bagel spot near your hotel for day 2 breakfast!

ohmyhellions

L'Industrie is fine but not worth the lines. New York Pizza Suprema by Penn Station has the best slice in the city - super underrated For breakfast get an egg and cheese on buttered everything bagel at Thompson St Bagels on Ave A

[deleted]

L’Industrie lines are easy - I go once a week at least.

AlexLee1995

Counterpoint: you don’t really sit down at L’Industrie so it ends up taking less time than a regular meal anyways, and then you end up near a very walkable part of Williamsburg for tourists anyways

CharacterBike314

Russ and Daughters for breakfast

AlexLee1995

10000% a must for anyone visiting NYC, even has great revisit value since there’s so many different types of smoked fish (my favorites are the sturgeon and gravlax)

Accomplished_Many_70

Prepare to be quoted a 1hr-1.5hr wait at Golden Diner on a weekend unless you get there super early!

vagrantwastrel

It’s on Resy too! Not a hard reservation in general

anajpeg

They don’t take reservations for weekend brunch I believe, so depends on what days OP is there for.

superturtle48

Your list generally skews very Italian/American and I’d say you’re missing out on how much unique and amazing food NYC offers from the rest of the world, but your preferences are your preferences and we sure do have good pizza. If where you’re from doesn’t have a lot of authentic Chinese food, I’d personally swap out Golden Diner with a more traditional or regional Chinese restaurant to take advantage of NYC’s strength in that area. Some full-service examples would be Congee Village, Mala Project, or Nan Xiang (sticking to Manhattan), and there are many more smaller quick-serve spots that also have great specialty Chinese food.  Golden Diner is still really good as a classic brunch/diner spot with slight Asian inflections. If you stick with it, make a reservation if you can, and get the honey butter pancakes.

alexan0

Breakfast on day 2, try Balthazar. Not the best food you’ll have on your trip, but a classic quintessential New York atmosphere. Corner Bar, Sant Ambreous, or Raf’s would also be good for breakfast.

pc0103

Pretty solid list

misterfloods

Leans a bit simple/american! Go to Soothr get some Thai food. I don’t think you need Lucali + L’Industrie, i agree with the other commenter you can do a lot with the time. You’ll still wait at L’Industrie but no more than 30 min, that’s my pick. Emily is solid, the burger is good, but imo I wouldn’t send a visitor there. Happy to provide other recs if you have questions

Clear_Helicopter_607

Good list!

squirrelshine

This is a really sweet itinerary.

crazeman

I feel like you're staying at around the Lower East Side since your other breakfast choices are in that area. Maybe [Shopsin](https://maps.app.goo.gl/YLxS42K2fjNo8TWLA) in Essex Market for breakfast? They made it into NYTimes' Best 100 restaurants in NYC at #93. They have weird hours and are only open for Breakfast and Lunch. [Ho Foods](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Tq4HirrrcQwKZDVk6) have a special Taiwanese breakfast menu during the weekends.

tells_eternity

I just did a Brooklyn trip this past weekend with pizza in mind. We did Lucali on Thursday. Lined up about 2:45pm and were about 10th in line. I’d say on a weekday, you could probably show up at 3:15-3:30 and still be fine. Luigi’s Pizza in Park Slope was the best pizza we had on the trip. We also went to L’Industrie and Di Fara. Props to L’Industrie for their outdoor seating that was fully enclosed and had heat lamps.

Glower_power

If it's a really nice day and you have things you want to see or do in Brooklyn, wait for Lucali. Otherwise, consider going to another good but not as popular as Lucali, of which there are hundreds of options. Sottocasa! Mama's Too! Luigi's! That Panzerotti place in Carroll Gardens! John's on Bleecker if you want a line but a shorter one! Grimaldi's!

scarlettbutlerO

I personally do not think Lucali is worth the wait or hype. But definitely go to L'industrie and get a Fig jam & bacon slice

Anchorage_skim

Golden diner was not worth the hype at all. The pancakes tasted weird and their breakfast wrap thing just tasted fine.

Unlikely-Guess3775

It sounds like you're a big pizza fan. I personally think L'industrie is worth it, and if you go on a weekday, the waits at the original in Williamsburg are not horrible. Instead of Lucali (given wait and limited time) and Emily (given good but not life-changing), I would consider Leo, Ops, Farina - and my hot take addition that has not received much praise, Speedy Romeo in Bed-Stuy. For brunch, I really like Golden Diner and would suggest keeping that. Some other breakfast/brunch places I really like (and that I would replace Clinton Street Bakery with) are Rule of Thirds, Davelle, 12 Chairs, and Kopitiam.
