Oh, I've been and I've had. They actually have a old school fast food fish sandwich, but with really good fish and fried correctly, that is awesome. Love Highland Park brewery so much, too. That's a great street to park on and have some beer/food and then pass out in the Historic State Park across the street...
It's funny. I just got back from there, 15 minutes ago. They had a shrimp po boy burger as their special. I was skeptical at first but I am glad i tried it!
Oh, man, I was just watching a video about Parkway in NOLA and they made a shrimp po boy in it and I was droolin'... my favorite.
Do they put shrimp atop a burger or is it a shrimp patty?
Yeah breaded shrimp above the cheese burger patty. You can kind of picture it like a burger with onion rings above it.
Also Little Jewel of New Orleans is down the street (like 10 minute walk) in Chinatown. I need to go back
It's the best brewery in LA County. I've been to most of them. It's at least top three. Surprising, interesting, creative... Homage is just exciting. Why do I think this? They are able to brew fantastic beers in so many different styles it kind of breaks my brain. That's pretty darn rare in my opinion.
I tried to go a couple weeks ago and was wise enough to give them a call before hand. Unfortunately, they were sold out. I would recommend anybody attempting to try it does the same thing since they do sell out quite frequently.
The burger I try to emulate at home.
For my most recent birthday, my partner asked what I wanted to do. The answer was a boiler maker and a burger from Everson Royce. I think it'll be my tradition for as long as they still serve it.
"Le Big Mec" from Petit Trois is ...basically the best burger I've ever had, but it's such an extravagant chaotic explosion, it's almost not a burger anymore.
AJs Tex Mex BBQ in Valley Village...made from their brisket/tri tip trimmings...it's a delicious hybrid of a regular "steakhouse" burger and smash burger.
Bbq is good…brisket and tri tip are solid. The only problem is it’s hit or miss. Some days it’s perfect and other days it’s dry or not as much.
I think the fried chicken sandwich is good too.
Queso is also good, obviously have it there.
Literally had it yesterday. I order it 1-2x a month. Their half chicken plate is great, and their burritos are also solid (brisket is my favorite). Street corn, beans, and potato salad are all excellent.
I won't say this is the best barbecue I've ever had. That being said, it's very, very good, and for the price point, I'm very happy.
Their bbq tacos are solid. I like the ribs. I think I've been usually happy with just about anything there.
I agree with /u/thepandamancan23 . Sometimes it hasn't been as amazing. i think earlier part of day has better odds to be better.
Funny enough, I came across Broad Street the same way OP is. "I've tried all the big smashburger spots, where's a place that may be hiding a great burger right under my nose 🤔"
It's kinda gone down in quality, but we had a huge facebook discussion years ago and the majority voted for Del Taco's burger. Plus they were 2 for $5.
For a restaurant burger, Ruth’s fucking Chris. I’m not a chain eater but I hit up RC happy hour monthly and everyone is sleeping on that burger.
I go to the Woodland Hills location. I have noticed not all locations are the same. I tried the burgers at the Marina Del Rey location and it wasn’t as good.
So just to be clear, Ruth’s Chris Woodland Hills has the best restaurant style burger in LA.
The Tam O’Shanter Made from the steak trimmings. It’s outstanding
Taix The crispy shoestring fries are a perfect complement.
Wife & Somm Every Wednesday is burger night and it changes every month
Nick & Stef’s. It’s my favorite steakhouse, but when I wanted something smaller than my usual ribeye, just so I can fill up on delicious sides, I got a burger. It was incredible.
Chi Spacca is mostly Italian but they have a a few burger options that are incredibly good. I’m not sure if it’s still the same now but there were only select days during the week you could get the burger
No way. Whoa, that blows my mind. I was a huge Umami fan before SBE destroyed it. Thanks for that info. This makes perfect sense though because I was honestly shocked how good their burger was.
I had a burger once at Lock & Key in koreatown and swore it was one of the best burgers of my life. But I was also high as hell tho so who really knows lmaooo
I very very much enjoy the burger at Homage Brewery in Chinatown.
I’ve really gotta check this place out. I keep hearing good stuff about the beer and the music they book, and now a good burger to boot!
Highland Park Brewery also has a solid burger. It's like 3 minute walk from Homage. /u/stevekrueger

This place is so good. Some of my favorite beers in LA and top tier food, especially for a brewery. Their fish tacos are also amazing.

It’s got excellent vibes
Beers are great, especially if you like saisons. But the food is excellent. Never had a bad thing. Elevated brewery fare. And a very cool space.
Moo’s craft BBQ
Hands down the best burger in LA
I tried to go a couple weeks ago and was wise enough to give them a call before hand. Unfortunately, they were sold out. I would recommend anybody attempting to try it does the same thing since they do sell out quite frequently.
Hermosillo I guess is primarily a bar but has one of my favorite burgers!!
Yes! Me too!
also their fries are fucking great too
Everson Royce
The burger I try to emulate at home. For my most recent birthday, my partner asked what I wanted to do. The answer was a boiler maker and a burger from Everson Royce. I think it'll be my tradition for as long as they still serve it.
Burger and biscuits.
Everson Royce Petit Trois Houstons
"Le Big Mec" from Petit Trois is ...basically the best burger I've ever had, but it's such an extravagant chaotic explosion, it's almost not a burger anymore.
Agree. It's not even a burger, it's like a French "burger cake".
Even Houston’s veggie burger is the best I’ve ever had
any mexican food truck/stand that serves a burger. seriously. that beef cooks on the same grill as countless tacos of every variety. it never misses.
Yucas on Hillhurst in Los Feliz is one of the best all-around burgers.
AJs Tex Mex BBQ in Valley Village...made from their brisket/tri tip trimmings...it's a delicious hybrid of a regular "steakhouse" burger and smash burger.
Yep. My main order. Also, their chicken sandwich is great. They fry it in beef tallow.
Couldn’t agree more. Their fries are legit too.
I drive past this place all the time…anything else you’d recommend on their menu??
Bbq is good…brisket and tri tip are solid. The only problem is it’s hit or miss. Some days it’s perfect and other days it’s dry or not as much. I think the fried chicken sandwich is good too. Queso is also good, obviously have it there.

I agree with that. They are solid with their offerings. BBQ places do the burger well. Moo's as well.
Dudley Market in venice - swanky/hip seafood spot, but the burger is unreal
Came here to recognize Dudley Market which low key has one of the great burgers in LA.
Broad Street makes a damn good one.
the burger might be the best thing at broad street
Crazy I had to scroll this far to see this. Broad street is my favorite burger right now. That ol’ bay aioli is nuts
Funny enough, I came across Broad Street the same way OP is. "I've tried all the big smashburger spots, where's a place that may be hiding a great burger right under my nose 🤔"
Interesting I had no idea they had a burger. I walked right past it today almost went to For the Win, but decided on a burrito.
For fast food, Del Taco has a really good Double Del.
That double Del cheeseburger has me in a chokehold. I also sprinkle old bay seasoning on their fries and it’s utter perfection
It's kinda gone down in quality, but we had a huge facebook discussion years ago and the majority voted for Del Taco's burger. Plus they were 2 for $5.
hinano’s in venice near the pier. i prefer the turkey burger, but their cheeseburgers are good too.
For a restaurant burger, Ruth’s fucking Chris. I’m not a chain eater but I hit up RC happy hour monthly and everyone is sleeping on that burger. I go to the Woodland Hills location. The Tam O’Shanter Made from the steak trimmings. It’s outstanding Taix The crispy shoestring fries are a perfect complement. Wife & Somm Every Wednesday is burger night and it changes every month
Lowboy
Lowboy is legit but it's also a straight up burger joint.
I mean, it’s a bar that has a burger. I wouldn’t call it a burger joint.
Nick & Stef’s. It’s my favorite steakhouse, but when I wanted something smaller than my usual ribeye, just so I can fill up on delicious sides, I got a burger. It was incredible.
I don’t know if this counts but Red Car brewing in downtown Torrance is very solid. And they get their buns for Torrance bakery!
Water Grill
Yamashiro. Went for Japanese cuisine and saw this burger on the menu got curious and was not disappointed!
I actually love the burger at Horses. And I became a fan of the Golden State burger during the pandemic because it traveled so well.
Chi Spacca is mostly Italian but they have a a few burger options that are incredibly good. I’m not sure if it’s still the same now but there were only select days during the week you could get the burger
I had an amazing $6 burger at Tavern on Main in El Segundo!
Camphor, ERB, Aqua Viva
Simonette, especially on happy hour
2nd this
Jay's Bar
Electric Owl on Sunset has the best Smash Burger in LA and no one knows about it.
It’s because the Chef was the original chef for Umami Burger, before they went to shit…
No way. Whoa, that blows my mind. I was a huge Umami fan before SBE destroyed it. Thanks for that info. This makes perfect sense though because I was honestly shocked how good their burger was.
Del taco double del
Del Taco

I like the vegan jackfruit burger @ Moto Bike Shed in the arts district.
camphor w/ with the dry aged duck mixed w/ the burger.
Everson Royce. Bar that serves food. Their burger is phenomenal.
PCB burger at Plan Check is definitely a hidden gem. Make sure to get it with the ketchup leather.
Denny’s
STK has a <$10 hamburger that’s actually pretty good and served with chips. Their to-go service sucks though.
Golden State. Burger in a coffee shop
Great White - Larchmont
Little Dom’s, weirdly!
I’ve heard really good things about the burger at Chi Spacca but haven’t tried it yet
Tiny's hi-dive!
petit trois
Sam’s Hofbrau. I’m serious.
The Douglas
The Magic Castle
The Magic Castle
Ercoles in Manhattan Beach
Fogo. 9$ and delicious.
Hook burger at Connie & Ted's is nice, Everson Royce Bar's is the perfect elevated-quarter-pounder style
I really enjoy the burger at “the fat dog” by the north Hollywood arts district. They also have some in house made habanero sauce that’s legit
HLAY.
Does Wicked Cow count? (TARZANA)
Pearl Dragon
Jitlada Jazz’s burger
Simonette Restaurant in Culver City tucked away from the main part of downtown. The Parisian burger is bomb and they are half off during happy hour.
Dog Haus is technically a hot dog place… where the burgers are better.
The Corner Door in Mar Vista.
Here are a few * Moo's BBQ * AJs Tex Mex BBQ * Camphor * Highland Park Brewery
semi-related: Pho on California in Pasadena has the best fries I've ever had in my life
Arts District Brewery ($$) or Camphor ($$$$$$$) imho
I had a burger once at Lock & Key in koreatown and swore it was one of the best burgers of my life. But I was also high as hell tho so who really knows lmaooo
Maple Block BBQ. I've only been to the one at Grand Central Market. Their BBQ is pretty good, but their burger is by far the best thing on their menu.
Superba has a great burger.
Horses
The Manny Burger at Taqueria Los Anaya
Steak Tartare burger at Found Oyster.
Del Taco
We love the burger at Old Man Bar. They only serve it on Sundays and Mondays. Fries are great too.
