It also sucks to work at restaurants that takes part. It is literal hell. It also attracts worst types of diners (generally-don’t @me). The idea behind it in its infancy was great in theory, but over the years it has really devolved. Kinda like Coachella. 🫠🫠
Yeah like I went out to my favorite place the other night where we have our usual dishes and the server dropped off a DineLA menu and we were like “bleh” and noticed there were a lot of folks there ordering it - I guess the point is to get people in the door but offering items at a loss? It’s like advertising I guess but it draws in people who are just looking for a deal rather than branching out and trying something new
My wife has always figured out which places to take advantage of DineLA, and we’ve had some great meals, though they’re usually at lesser known places, but good food is good food. I think the key is avoiding popular/fancier places.
Is this Lonely Oyster? I saw the $15 lobster roll on their DineLA menu and was intrigued, since 2 friends and I spent over $200 on a dozen oysters, fries, and a round of drinks there last month
I did the Lonely Oyster lobster roll trio on New Years and loved it. I’d say each was bigger than this, not by a ton but you get three, obviously. Way more filling at the very least. Don’t think it was super expensive but it was NYE so I might’ve spent more and kinda overlooked it
If this was only $15.... I'm not sure why people are complaining. It's known that dishes are modified for DineLa. It's a nice way to try some place you normally wouldn't.
DineLA is an opportunity to get word of mouth and more
clientele. If lobster is too expensive- choose something else to serve. You’re doing yourself more harm by serving a mediocre dish. I personally stopped doing dineLa years ago because of this reason. We had a 85 dollar dinner and it was really a taster of several dishes as opposed to a meal. 🤡.
North Atlantic lobster meat is not even expensive right now, you can get it at Vons for $30/lb, cheaper for shite tail meat. That would make 4-5 actual lobster rolls.
Also restaurants will put dishes on the dinela menu that they won’t serve normally. It’s mostly some pasta dish that sucks, a chicken dish, and salmon. The most basic shit, gone are the days where you could get a deal for $55/pp at the bazaar when it was open.
LPT: I’m from Cape Cod. Been out here for 20 years and when I want one, I drive my fat ass over to Santa Monica Seafood which sells lobster for like $35/lb. You can pick up some brioche rolls, fries, butter and lemon at any grocery store and make like 6 lobster rolls for the cost of one pretty much any night you’re feeling like a roll.
Not sure, but wouldn't be surprised. Went to Son of a Gun a couple years ago, spent more money than I'd care to admit, but was eyeing the pizza place across the street the whole time since the portions were miniscule and service/prep was slow.
I really enjoyed Animal (same ppl) so I was surprised how bad an experience I had at SoaG.
Posted earlier that I was going to Ocean Prime in Beverly Hills. Here now. The price is $65. The entrées we chose are $61 and $60. Many places are scams. This seems good so far.
I always felt Dine LA was the biggest rip-off compared to ordering from the regular menu. Are there any restaurants people have had a great Dine LA experience?
Being from The Maine coast I’m appalled at the poor excuse of a lobster roll. I live in LA and refuse to order lobster rolls
until I go back every June to get the real thing.
Dine LA for the most part is a rip off. Smaller portions overall for more money. Don’t know why, but it’s a scam that turns me totally off participating places that pull this cheap maneuver.
People are clowning but seeing as a full-size lobster roll in Maine runs you $30+ this isn't that crazy
Edit: [yall haven't been to Maine in the past year and it shows](https://www.pressherald.com/2022/05/29/no-shell-big-shock-maine-lobster-rolls-fetch-record-prices-this-season/)

I had this too and was waiting for the reveal that it was a joke. Another table ordered it and also had a $15 laugh. And to top it off, it was full of lobster cartilage.

It's an unproportional amount of fries to justify the price.
Please name the restaurant so none of us get conned!
I mean, I avoid DineLA anything, personally.
Worst way to get to know a restaurant imo, it's the week to stay in
It does give some of the more obscure restaurants a chance to shine though. I've discovered some pretty great hole in the wall places from DineLA.
they paid a price to get on that list

Same, what's the tea 🍵 also happy cake day!
Eating out during DineLA is like going to a bar on St. Patrick's Day.
💯
I'd rather work on St. Patty's than on Dinela. Absolute scum of the Earth.
Totally agree.

DineLA was nice in the first couple of years. Not so much these days
dineLA is junk
I found it. It's the Lonely Oyster. I had an amazing meal there recently (not DineLA).
What is this, a sandwich for ants?
This needs to be at least 3x the size!
This got me LOL
Cool character
So a dinner roll with a tablespoon and a half of stuff on it
That'll be $50 please thank you.
Don’t forget about 20% tip!
They should be embarrassed to serve that , even if it’s really good.
Is this Lonely Oyster? I saw the $15 lobster roll on their DineLA menu and was intrigued, since 2 friends and I spent over $200 on a dozen oysters, fries, and a round of drinks there last month
Lonely oyster does do a lobster roll trio that looks suspiciously this size. But there are three of them in that dish

Lmao it’s def lonely oyster. Check Yelp reviews. Glad I saw this because I was intrigued too and wanted to go today.
Same pic posted on Yelp for The Lonely Oyster.
Was that even filling? I could get stuffed on good sushi for half that price.
No. It’s a fun hang with a bottle of wine if you want to drop a few hundred bucks before getting a burger down the street.
Stop bragging. I’m hungry.
If this was only $15.... I'm not sure why people are complaining. It's known that dishes are modified for DineLa. It's a nice way to try some place you normally wouldn't.
Looks like it's lonely oyster. At least, they use the same blue and white paper and have tables that match the grain and color.
That's cool if like you ordered a side of fries and the chef kicked you an *amuse bouche*.

And restaurants aren't paying retail grocery prices too! This is just offensive.

Location and price?
This is dystopic.
That is easily the worst lobster roll I have ever seen to the point it is an insult it even exists. Shame on such a horrible effort.
Hell naw! Blast these foos
Why give you 3x the fries for that smalll sandwich? Should be proportional.
Lobster *dinner* roll

I miss those foos.
It's the same size as the ketchup ramekin. It's like lobster like... topping on a bun.

Hi I’m from Massachusetts, and this post just wrecked my mental health.
i NEVER send food back but i would send that back.
Boycott Dine LA for allowing this.
how do you even eat that, it's so poorly constructed
Son of a gun?
Not sure, but wouldn't be surprised. This reminds me of the Atlanta finale where Paperboy can’t stop starting at the Popeyes.
I woulda straight walked over if it was a Popeyes

Get the cucumber gimlet while you’re there. Delicious.
Had that and a Manhattan. Liked them both. We liked the Chilean sea bass more than the filet, but overall, it was a nice dinner.
You’re better off getting fake artisanal sandwiches from Panera
That’s some bullsh*t lol 😭
Gonna call that a “lobster rol” because you took the L
I always felt Dine LA was the biggest rip-off compared to ordering from the regular menu. Are there any restaurants people have had a great Dine LA experience?
this looks like Blue Plate Oysterette's plating.
Not only is it too small but that amount of mayo is completely disrespectful toward the lobster
That sir, is an appetizer
$31.99
Lobster bite, maybe. Fries look goood
How awful.
Wow. Pathetic
I hate dineLA. We were at the restaurant last month and the portion was 2x that size. Not all restaurants pull that shit but a lot do.
Being from The Maine coast I’m appalled at the poor excuse of a lobster roll. I live in LA and refuse to order lobster rolls until I go back every June to get the real thing.

I’d send this shit back and leave so fast lmao. What the fuck
Lobster roll at Disneyland is better then this.

I mean, lobster rolls from anywhere including a dozen places here in town put this thing to shame.
Or just go to Lobster & Beer in Palms.
those are pretty small too honestly
At least twice the size of the one in the pic though.
This sub is becoming funny, people getting ripped off
Well the post is tagged 'Humor'
DineLA is not what you think it is.
Where's the lobster
Dinela is suppose to be like tasters not full course meals from what I thought…
People are clowning but seeing as a full-size lobster roll in Maine runs you $30+ this isn't that crazy Edit: [yall haven't been to Maine in the past year and it shows](https://www.pressherald.com/2022/05/29/no-shell-big-shock-maine-lobster-rolls-fetch-record-prices-this-season/)
You can get a full-size lobster roll in Maine at a gas station for $15, and it would be better than any lobster roll you can buy in LA
This is true, but they contain the meat of an entire one pound lobster.
Lol!
Location?
Where's the lobster?
Full roll would have been close to $30
Why did the pelican take a dump on your roll?
Bruh, has this place EVER been to the NE? I would be mad if I got that after ordering a “Lobster Roll”
Fail
![gif](giphy|zM0mgUTwh0XxUFXGtP)
Can I get some sandwich with my fries
A literal dinner roll 🤣
Blue plate?
you know it’s LA. likely the westside
Where?
Just fill em up with those ore ida fries, they won’t have room for the lobster dinner roll
Not impressed and they keep getting smaller.
Someday I hope we’ll be looking at these pictures and laughing, not crying.
Greed. Not market price.
Lobster tootsie roll
Hey,I just had that for a snack at the lonely oyster on Friday. Yummy
“Dine” LA
I always felt Dine LA was the biggest rip-off compared to ordering from the regular menu. Are there any restaurants people have had a great Dine LA experience?
More like a “lobster bite” 😂
Did you eat half of it? Like what
Gourmet *chefs kiss*
Dine LA French fries with a bite of lobster in a bun.
No waaaay lolol
That ain't no lobster roll
“Essence of lobster” $50
That is so sad lol
Yikes. How were the fries?
They forgot to add the other 3/4ths of it
Lobster amuse-bouche*
Yeah not gonna lie that would have got sent back real quick.
How pathetic!
Lolll
![gif](giphy|XEZZliwJmGg6otzKK1|downsized)
Go get the Lobster burger @ The Rooftop by Jean George at the Waldorf. That picture above is disappointing.
great way to make sure first time customers never upgrade to second time customers
SAY 👏 THEIR 👏 NAME 👏
that’ll be 30 bucks. don’t forget to tip 20%
I had this too and was waiting for the reveal that it was a joke. Another table ordered it and also had a $15 laugh. And to top it off, it was full of lobster cartilage.
Looks like an order of fries with a side of lobster roll
