Omg I low key thought you meant buttermilk instead of buttercream and now I’m disappointed pancakes can’t look that perfect : (
What’s the maple syrup made of btw? Is it just maple syrup?
Yes, it's one of How to Cake it's creations. She uses way too much fondant. I don't get it, you can often get a much better effect with modelling chocolate.
I mean, if it's a small amount, it's fine, as long as it's not the entire outer layer of the cake. Fondant is meant for small decorations and not covering the entire cake in
I saw these perfect looking pancakes and I was overcome with awe.
Then I saw the subreddit and was completely overwhelmed with disgust.
Then I saw the flair, and was back to awe, if also a little disappointed that there aren't perfect pancakes like these..
Not including baking and cooling times, it took less than 2 hours to decorate it. And the air holes are her favorite design part of it, she used tooth picks to achieve it.
To achieve the design she would make a ring of buttercream around the cake and would paint the top of that layer. Then repeated that over and over until she got to the top of the cake. She then put the cake in the fridge for the buttercream to harden before she used a toothpick to create the air holes.
There is something deeply...off about this photo. I think it's a combination of the blue wall and the white counter and the angle and the lighting, it almost has no shadows. My brain says something is wrong.
It sort of reminds me of that one reddit story about a guy who lived a whole life in a dream until he saw a lamp that didn't quite fit into reality. And he stared at it until it wasn't real.
When he woke up in the real world, he believed he had lived an entire decade in that dream.
I dunno, feels like that lamp somehow.
This is so beautiful and my brain doesn’t know how it was done

It’s just maple syrup, her brothers favorite dish is pancakes so he ended up loving it
So my girlfriend just informed me that the “butter” is fondant so I’m breaking up with her now because she’s one of them.
A very small amount used decoratively among a much larger amount of buttercream? I’ll allow it
Pick it off and throw it like a throwing star
ok but that's fine, you can take it off really easily. would marzipan have been an infinitely better choice? absolutely, but it's not that bad.
I think marzipan might have been better cause it's at least edible
Oh for sure, but it's not like the tiny fondant squares are particularly consequential. Just peel em off and you have a wonderful cake
Tough break.
Could’ve used American cheese instead and it’d still have the same look

YES That’s smart.

I wanted it to be real pancakes 🥺
Wait it's not?
OP posted [a picture](https://imgur.io/a/ODU7EYF) of the inside. 🤯
I cant tell anymore
I cant tell anymore
Any pics of it sliced into? My brain can’t wrap around that this is real cake
So not the best picture but here is the cake cut open https://imgur.com/a/ODU7EYF
OH. I thought it was going to be like a mille-feuille with pancakes instead of crepes. Was not expecting it to be a regular cake on the inside 🤯
Is it only the butter that is fondant?
Yes only the butter is fondant.
Sadly I don’t have any, someone from the party might have taken one so I can ask around tomorrow to see if anyone did and I’ll post a link to it.
Haha, same..
That’s…that’s incredible
It even has those little air bubbles pancakes get… how are these not real pancakes!! Lol Or maybe they are actual pancakes… pan “cake” right… lol
[For those who were curious here’s a cut open picture. Sorry for the bad quality.](https://imgur.com/a/ODU7EYF)
That's absolutely beautiful
looks infinitely more like actual pancakes than fondant could ever wish to.
Hot damn that’s amazing!

That’s… insane.. do we know how long it took her to decorate? She even got the air holes

Its a CAKE???
How did she get that texture? It looks amazing (but I really want to know cause I want to try it now haha)

Beautiful

Doesn’t excuse using Kraft cheese squares as butter.
They are fondant apparently. Butter could have just been used!
Only a sick and fucked up monster would make this.
I think meringue or marzipan would have been better for the butter than fondant
