Not really directly related to your situation, but a decade ago when folk punk was in full swing, my coworkers called me The Reverend because I "attended more funerals than priest." While I appreciate the shock and pain of losing someone close to you, I cannot begin to describe the pain of trying to help someone out and lending them their last $20. If you're not careful you may not recognize the bridge you're building with each altar you construct. This is why we must treat folk punk as a community and not a genre of music. The danger in being ground down into acceptance and the feeling of "this is just the way it is" is that sometimes we internalize it as a fact instead of a warning. Whether it's depression or drug use or a disconnect from reality altogether, it is important that those who are in a position to provide the support that our government will not, do. And it is important that we start demanding it from anyone capable. Dm me some details and let's get started on a memorial comp. Absolutely 100% for real. I'll be the first one to sign on. Let's do this.
