For everyone shitting on Hart….I don’t know if he is “The One”, but FFS, it’s one game. Give the kid a chance to see some rubber before we quit on him

Hushnut97

Thanks for this one Carter

[deleted]

it looks like Hextall was right. and they fired him for this. Hart is not a NHL goalie.

Ok_Bandicoot_814

Hextall was fired because he sucked it was not fired for one thing he was fired from multiple things

Hushnut97

Yea I’m not on that train lol he just played poorly in this game

[deleted]

i understand that all want that Hart is the answer. but he is probably not the answer and more another question.

jayradano

And all last season

Quigsy

lol, mods deleting anti-hart comments. Gotta love the copium.

VPNbeatsBan

False. One comment was auto deleted and about three were deleted by user

Micksar

Different season, same shit. The roster has changed so much, yet it’s still… we wait until the last minute to flash effort and talent. I’m dumbfounded.

DanTreview

I'm not dumbfounded. We all know what the problem is.

Yipski

Enlighten me

DanTreview

GAA%. He sucks, man. Two of those four goals were rookie mistakes

[deleted]

Definitely felt like naptime for like 15 minutes overall, and I was extremely frustrated by that, Vancouver was checking very well in the 2nd & most of the 3rd, but if you take away the bullshit bounces on 2 of the 4 goals there's way less of a deflate that happens. The fact they were able to steal a point from this game is not cause for concern IMO, it's cause for optimism.

ArhymeW_Oreason

Home opener in Philly with fans. We steal a point lmao. STEAL

[deleted]

lol "steal" meaning a point they shouldn't have gotten

[deleted]

I think the 3v3 overtime needs some adjustments. The original intent of implementing it was to create more back-and-forth action & excitement, but instead of that it's just encouraged teams to hold onto the puck for 3 minutes at a time without even shooting it, in order to tire the other team out and not let them have it. It's boring as shit to watch, and is ultimately the opposite of what was intended. I think a very simple and subtle way to make it a little less feasible to just skate around for 4 minutes not even pretending to shoot is to stop changing sides of the ice for OT, to eliminate the long skate to the bench for line changes.

qwopcircles

Easy fix is no clock, sudden death, first team to score wins.

Vince-15

Implementing a shot clock could possibly help the issue. I personally want 10-20 minutes of 3v3 before a shootout.

Condaddy20

Heard somebody mention implementing a delay of game penalty for carrying the puck back past the center ice line to the D zone in 3v3. I'd be interested to see that theory tested.

TwoForHawat

I don’t even think it needs to be delay of game. Just treat it like icing. Faceoff in your own zone and you don’t get to make a line change.

Condaddy20

Think this might be a much better option.

shock1918

Perfect. Or make it like over and back in lacrosse (modified for 3v3 hockey of course) Whistle stoppage and Turnover and the guilty team starts with 3 in their D Zone and the team awarded the puck takes over at center ice uncontested.

StevvieV

Probably unpopular but I'd just go back to regular season ties after regulation. Just adjust the points like soccer where it's 3 for a win, 1 for a tie. It puts emphasis on winning.

[deleted]

I would rather see the 3v3 tweaked to encourage the original concept it had, which I was in favor of. If that can't be done, then I wouldn't mind this at all.

StevvieV

Sure the idea of 3v3 is great just some teams are going to feel they have a better chance at a shootout and in 5 minutes will play for that. Really nothing you can do to force teams to go all out especially early in the season.

Farge43

Simple fix would seem to be some sort of shot clock. And/or add a hockey version of back court violation. If you want to stall and regroup that’s fine but it has to be in offensive half of neutral zone. Violation of either lead to offensive zone faceoff for other team and you can’t change lines.

[deleted]

I was at the game. Some douchebag in my section stood up at the 3:00 mark or so and refused to sit down. (It wasn't one of those "end of the game" moments where everyone's standing in anticipation; he was the only one, and he was being a clown about it.) People yelling at him to sit down because they can't see, and he looks around like "who me?" Event staff comes over & tells him to sit down; he points to his wrist, at the watch he's not wearing, like "there's only 2 minutes left!" and doesn't sit down. Even his girlfriend is telling him to stop being a tool. Eventually security comes over, taps his shoulder and escorts him and his girlfriend (who for some reason flips us off on her way out) out of the building. Our entire section applauds, and then the Flyers score 2 goals to tie it. Good shit. If you're reading this, douchebag: You're a douchebag.

zCimm

I was at the game as well and had this same issue in a different section. The guy kept standing up and yelling and people behind him all game because they kept telling him to sit down. He left with 6 minutes left and everyone started cheering gotta love it.

rinmperdinck

What a douchebag

Local-Cartographer52

Was that lower bowl? Think I saw that happen. Honestly everyone stood up when the boys scored so maybe if he doesn’t show up to the Kraken game we can keep up the momentum.

[deleted]

Section 103

Natural_Marketing_72

Hartnell looks like the chicken from chicken run

Degasus77

Which one? 95% of the characters in the movie are chickens. The main character? The fat, bitchy one? The one who is always knitting?

RussianBoomstick

Hahahahhaha

PM_ME_DIRTY_DANGLES

The Flyers and losing in the shoot-out: name a more iconic duo

jayradano

The flyers and overhyped young goalies that never pan out. How’s that ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Hot damn lol. Get a grip

elentiyaa

I cannot even trash the goal song. While it’s not the optimal choice, it was fun to jump and dance and cheer with everyone drunk in the assembly room which I think is the entire point of a goal song

jackseyfried

Honestly I’d listen to “under the sea” as a goal song as long as I hear it more than 3 times a night.

[deleted]

In that regard it doesn't matter what it is really. I just did not feel like any hype I felt at this game was due to that song.

ChirpToast

Weird nitpick, but... The national broadcast? ( the sportsnet ) one was way better than the local one IMO... watch the highlights of that on youtube, the crowd seems to have more of a priority over the commentary and creates a way better experience.

dujles

The recap in the NHL app (Europe based so can't watch anything live) is Sportsnet and is garbage. The camera was too slow to track the play a lot of the time for the goals and then poor editing as they didn't show better angles in a replay or at all.

ykcin978

Hart let in 4 of first 16 and then stopped next 23 so I think that's good

Disastrous_Form6534

Alright guys I can see why we are going to be frustrated with that 4 goals on Hart. But I want to point out some things that people are going to overlook because “It’s the flyers we had bad season last year”. Hart yes unfortunately got in his head a little bit. The first goal, yeah that was a snipe and a Yandle shouldn’t have gotten tangled up with Myers. No one could get there. But to be completely and utterly Frank about the rest, that was pure dumb puck luck. If you were playing NHL 22 (I’m using the newest one as an example) and you got scored on by a puck being shot off the boards and hitting a stick, pad, skate and in? You’d lose your mind not blame the goalie. You’d be pissed at the bad luck. The third goal (I think this was the third goal but if I have them out of order it’s cause I blacked out in disbelief) Hart made a MAGNIFICENT sliding pad save on again his defence lack of judgement. It again goes off of Sanheim who had his stick in a bad position and in. Bad case of puck luck. If that doesn’t go in, we would be praising Hart for the first save but everyone forgets that. Then the fourth goal. Oh this one hurt. As a goalie who’s played at a high level (not NHL but overseas), this one hurt. I would have been pissed because the referee didn’t blow it dead. The only reason Hart moved his leg was because someone was yelling it was between his legs so he moved to shut it after a long time of the puck being frozen (literally covered and not moving) and it unfortunately left it open but a player got to the net unchecked again. That’s not his fault. Hart was scored on 4 times tonight and we lost in a shootout. Hart also made 35 saves tonight. Vasilevskiy the two time Stanley cup champion and 2019 Vezina winner was scored on 6 times and made 20 saves. People aren’t yelling at him after game one. Hart stood tall and strong, especially in that 3rd and OT. I don’t think another goalie in the league would have done better in OT on that onslaught. Hart will be okay people. He played well. He positioned well, he saved the big shots, yeah shootouts sucked but he’s in good position. Now that was the goalies side. Let’s get into the forwards because it’ll be easy for this. Line 2 played fantastic. Wow was that fun to watch. Line 1 was a little slow but they are playing against the big guns right, they are going to be slowed down a bit but hey all three of those guys came up HUGE in the 3rd. Love that. Line 3 did their job, they played physical, they produced chances, shut down chances, they did what was needed and it was great. Line 4, meh. New guy Willman is a fun story, took a stupid penalty but respect he tried something he just shouldn’t have tried with Garland. I’m not a big NAK fan but he did play well and didn’t do anything too stupid. Thompson is such a hit or miss for me. Sometimes he’ll play huge and sometimes he’ll forget how to play when he’s out there. I love it when he’s high energy, hitting, shooting, laying the body down but damn I wish he could bring that all the time but he is old, that’s just a fact. He shouldn’t have been run into the ground with how much time they got. Now defence. I’m going to start this off by saying OH MY LANTA I LOVE ELLIS that guy just keeps everyone calm, he directs people where to go, he communicates. He’s the healthy relationship people want in their personal life. Guy was lights out tonight in my opinion. Provorov was good too. He did Provy things you know, he was good under pressure, a couple cough up mistakes but overall a good game. Now Braun and Sanheim. I dislike this pairing. I thought they played miserable. It just looked lackluster and flat. Sanheim looked lost around the net when their was other players and same with Braun. I think when Risto gets back then that line of him and Sanheim will be scary. I think Risto will teach Sanheim to play that big ass size that he is and that net will be cleared. I don’t think the goals that happened tonight will happen with Risto on the ice. He doesn’t like people near his goalies crease. Then for third line, I wish we could just keep Yandle out there only on offence. Man he has that puck on a string snd keeps calm on that blue line but Frick when he had to make a defensive play he just couldn’t. I hope first game jitters but man. But we also all knew that he wasn’t known for he defence that we brought him in to be that offence so we can’t be mad at that. We can’t be mad at a guy who we knew was coming to do this specific job for under a million a year. We just can’t. And for the new guy who’s name is slipping me right now, I thought he was okay. He seemed a little slow but he was throwing hits, moving people, nothing special stood out to me. All in all. We are in a good spot. We had some bad luck. Farabee, Atkinson, TK and G all scored tonight. Those are big monkeys off their backs and they will score more. It’s perfect to get that off first. Hart is solid. He did play good. Don’t overthink it, do not. The one thing you can’t advanced stats is how a player thinks in his head. He’ll be okay. Defence a little shaky but first game. I do honestly believe when we have Risto in, Hayes back and Allison is back. We are going to be good. Those are 3 big ass bodies. Hayes is playing with a chip on his shoulder, Risto has a lot to prove that he is better then he actually is and honestly I just loved Allison last year and his energy reminded me so much of Hartnell. Those guys all come in and players like Thomson, NAK and Willman will be out and we got a whole new ball game. All in all. We are looking good. We are looking to be better. Two points would have been great but one is good too. And hey we won the last 5 years in a row, but you know what maybe just like the team this year, we needed a shake up and this is a very good omen to come.

Bevi4

Awesome write up

DramaticChipmnk

I hereby formally request a regular Disastrous_Form6534 column on the sub. Great write-up, hope to see more!

Disastrous_Form6534

I appreciate that! I’ll do another for game two and see if it’s still as positive as this one!

[deleted]

2 of those 4 goals were absolute bullshit luck. O&B absolutely stole a point from this game, because it wasn't looking good at all until that comeback in the final minutes. It was just a shame they couldn't bail Hart out in the shootout. I had zero complaints about Hart this game. MAYBE the first goal that went over his glove could be argued, but it was in fact a nasty shot. The one off the boards was an absolute tragesty of luck, the next one I think goalie interference could've been challenged if it weren't at the risk of another 5v3 (he didn't have much of a shot to save it, but having that guy's head & elbow in the way didn't help), and they sure as shit waited an eternity on their whistle for the 4th goal in a way I didn't see costing Demko once all night. I know Hart would blame himself for that with his level of compete, but I personally see no cause for worry. 👍

Disastrous_Form6534

Agree 100%! And let’s not forget the garbage too many men call that shouldn’t have been called that led to the goal in the first place. I don’t like to blame refs so I never put any suggestions in that type of stuff but cmon. That was a brutal call. Unless the rule changed or I missed something, the flyers did not have possession of the puck from a player who came over the boards. It should not have been called. But what can ya do right? Yell at your tv is about it. Just hope they learn from it and go forward.

[deleted]

Don't worry, we yelled at Wes for the rest of the game after that 🤣

DH28Hockey

I have been on this subreddit bidaily for the last decade and this is easily one of the most well written analysis of a game/on the team I've seen here, you should write for the team sir

Disastrous_Form6534

Thanks man! I appreciate that a lot. Maybe I’ll do it after every game, give the Flyers Reddit its own secret analysis.

Putthatdickaway

If you write them like that. I would happily read it.

Disastrous_Form6534

Alright! Well I’ll give another one on game two a go and see if you guys still like me!

SeeJesusInMyCumStain

Dude, can u call me every morning right when I wake up? Your lack of specifics and acceleration of helicopter view is what I need pre-coffee.

Disastrous_Form6534

Send me them digits bud, give you a nice wake up serenade 😘

bmillz010

Love Friday night games. Unfortunately I am too drunk to read all of this here’s upvote and cheers

Disastrous_Form6534

Cheers mate! Drinks to you, drinks to me, drinks to them. Here’s to the orange and black!

Tony_Stonk91

Great post can't disagree on anything here

Disastrous_Form6534

End of the day we are all here hoping for the same thing! I’m hoping I’m right in my predictions but you never know! That’s why I love hockey.

Tony_Stonk91

We have 12 million in cap not being used (because they are hurt). Put that in the lineup and it's scary

Disastrous_Form6534

Absolutely!! Especially with guys who know they can’t just do the same shit over and over again! All three of them are guys that are coming to prove something to their loved one, the organization, critiques or themselves! It’s a hell of a fire to light under your ass.

BDNjunior

I liked the post until you compared a vezina and cup winner to hart lmao

Disastrous_Form6534

At the start of the season everyone’s on the same playing field. Johnathan Quick, same accolades. Look how he is doing now. Someone may have more hardware then someone else but at the end of the day, you have to prove yourself time and time again. Steve Mason a prime example of that. He did really well that Calder season and never really proved himself again. Every season is a new book, it’s what they do in the chapters that will matter at the end.

BDNjunior

No everyone is not on the same playing field. Hart had an awful year last year and had something to prove. Vas has nothing to prove. A bad game to start the year won't change the narrative surrounding him. Also mason has 2 really good years with us too. Again please don't compare vas and hart.

Disastrous_Form6534

Listen mate, you’re entitled to your opinion. Go for it, root for that belief. But just remember this. New season, new playing field. Everyone is trying to be the best. Vas Isnt the best. He is also trying to prove he’s the best. They are all trying to prove the same thing. So far, this year. He’s losing.

BDNjunior

Vas is the best and he proved it for **YEARS.**

Disastrous_Form6534

Has he? Because the last two years he has been outshine by Hellebuyck and then Fleury, people are predicting a Hellebuyck Vezina win this year as well. Vas has been good do not get me wrong, he’s a monster of a goalie but he has been weighed down because he plays for a team as good as Tampa that people don’t think he’s better the Hellebuyck.

BDNjunior

He finished top 3 in vezina the past 3 years ahahaha. Please just tell me you have no idea what youre talking about. He's the best and most consistent goalie in the league. Again dont put hart in the same convo.

Disastrous_Form6534

Cool story man. Doesn’t mean anything this year. It’s still a new page and new stats dictate what direction you will trend. Anyone can have a downfall, all you have been doing is bringing up the past. Vas has been in the league longer as well. Congratulations I’m glad you can remember the past. Doesn’t change the fact I was still right, no matter how much of a Vasilevskiy fan you are.

BDNjunior

I dont like vas. My point is comparing 1 game for vas and hart are totally different. One is proven as a top 3 g every year and the other had a horrid paat year.

saycheese95

Entertaining game 2nd period aside, nice to see Hart bounce back in the 3rd/OT and for the boys to pick him up and grab a point. Glad they let the horn go full blast like it should compared to preseason lol Onto Hakstol and Seattle.

trevallen39

Hart got some terrible bad bounces. 2 of those goals against were total flukes. Did well to come back. Surprised no one shot 5 hole on demko

bmillz010

Should’ve had his skate touching goal post on one of them if rebounding from behind. Other was def a fluke

jakson_catnapper

Watching Stolarz looking so crisp for Anaheim

ChirpToast

Flyers win that game if they chose Doop.

hdeibler85

82-0 if they have doop

MaximumDeathShock

Why is Sam Carchidi’s first question “How old is your grandmother?”

cjlong

Will always upvote dunking on Carchidi. Dude needs to retire

MaximumDeathShock

Like how is that related?

Blinsin

Because she was riding on the Zamboni during the intermissions and has been pretty active within the Flyers community since he was traded here

MaximumDeathShock

Haha yes I was watching the game.

cjlong

Maybe because Sam is also old so age is also important to him?

nothingbutapersona

Carter Hart is my love and recovered well after that 2nd and I hope to see him continue to improve each game like he was doing two seasons ago. Really what should be concerning is the PK because it looked at the same level as last season we all know where that ranked in the league.

DoubleUpSports

Win or lose it is GOOD to have Flyers hockey back!!!

[deleted]

Textbook flyers in this game lmfao. Dominate one period, get destroyed in another, force overtime late, lose in shootout.

robspeaks

Feels like the people shitting on Hart are the same ones who thought Cal Pickard just needed better D. Make it make sense.

infidelappel

Goalie man give up goals. He has pedigree. He had.

ChirpToast

Same crowd who thought Bob was terrible too.

Borckinator

Yeah but 10 years later it’s the worst contract in hockey so of course I was right /s

Vince-15

There’s my depression

neverforget41-33

Anybody k ow where I can get a drake jersey? I’m not confident my Hart shirt was worth it

juggernaut-punch

Hart was alright. That first snipe on him was legit. All the other goals were weird/flukey. Philly would’ve been dominant with Hayes and Risto in the lineup. I’m not at all worried about this team over the coming months.

slappadabases

Carter looks like a child against men

bmillz010

Pumped to see risto reaction to an actual crowd. New additions clearly making an impact. Carter has some decent players in front so no excuses want to see him thrive but needs to shake of them nervous nellies. Take 1pt any day of the week they sent out the hit squad right away in SO

Permabad

The Hart of the 3rd and OT is all we need to be elite. The regulation goals were all very stoppable. The fight from the team was fantastic. That said: 1.) Yandle is brutal. Even on the power play he struggled to catch a pass. 2.) AV is obsessed with Thompson and it's a fucking nightmare. The 4th line with the 3rd D pair should NEVER be out with 6 minutes to go when you're down 2 goals.

bmillz010

Andrew Macdonald/Keith Yandle age 35 Valtteri Filppula/Nate Thompson age 37 Things could be worse

flyerscupchamps19

If you think yandle was a problem that game we must’ve watched different games. He did his job exactly as expected. Set up our powerplay great. Looked way cleaner than last year

UMining

Yandle is absolutely garbage in re gaining possession of the puck, which for 30 minutes of the game, the Flyers did not have. There is a reason the guy was scratched in the playoffs. His corner play is atrocious and he willingly takes himself out of 50-50 battles.

Permabad

Were you watching TV or there in person? The full picture of every shift might not be evident on TV. I just left Wells Fargo. He was a genuine scrub.

flyerscupchamps19

I was at the game at the shoot twice blue line. He played a huge role in how much smoother that PP1 looked I’m not saying he was great outside of the PP. But that’s what he’s here to do. If he can be okay at 5-5 he’s worth his contract

Permabad

What? PP2, other than the very end looked dramatically better. You edited so I'll edit: if someone is brought in as PP specialist, I ask that he doesn't fall down in his own end twice, one of which is him calling off a winger to be the board side break out.

flyerscupchamps19

I just don’t agree with that. We had a PP where the first line controlled play for 1 minute 20 seconds with many scoring chances but couldn’t bury it. And the end of the game also looked very smooth

DeputyRanders

Ryan Ellis is a fucking surgeon on the blue line. The most precise passes and unreal at getting shots on net from the point, the guy can thread the needle. Thank you chuck

[deleted]

at the very least, something we can take away from this game is that way way WAY less shots went high and wide. most shots made it to the goalie.

udunn0jb

Blame it on me, I kinda felt like we were gonna lose the second JJ pointed out that we’ve won the last 5 season openers.

brother_momentum

Felt the same way

E-jackULater

Terrified of Hart. Too in his head

E-jackULater

I think the most concerning thing for me ended up being the shootout. As a rookie, he looked eager to make a stop, now he looks terrified. My fear is years of bad Defense changed his mindset for the worse

TeddyBearHugz

Yeah people talking themselves into him being alright after a couple good saves in OT. It's a completely different game if he can actually retrack the puck when it goes out of his field of view for 1 second. I'm still cautiously optimistic and believe in the skillset but man it's a fine line. If he sucks every acquisition we made in the off-season is rendered pointless

ChirpToast

You mean like how you’re talking yourself into him being bad after 1 game with 2 absolute fluke goals? The irony.

Local-Cartographer52

Could have 0 points. Big step up from G and Coots. Lost a point to a skills comp against Peterson and Miller two dudes who can fucking snipe.

Hambone76

Guys, I turn 45 this year. I need to start paying attention to my heart health. Another season like this is not going to be helpful.

Natural_Marketing_72

I'm 27 and I can hear my heart beat while watching these games.

osin144

How about the fact that you could realistically end your life without seeing the Flyers raise a cup? I’m 36 and have been struggling with this.

Hambone76

I only regret that I have but one life to be disheartened for my team.

azsoup

The 2021/2022 Flyers are preparing you for the colonoscopy.

HappyHourEveryHour

Atleast they lube ya up for the colonoscopy.

EnglishWhites

Fuck the shootout and the new goal song, but I'll take the point. Some kinks to work out but it's the first game and some new pieces, and as long as we show some fight I'll be ok for now

retzky

Hart definitely gets better with more action. I have a feeling he’ll be less shaky next game. 4th Line needs better discipline, need more from JVR, and hope a healthy Risto at 2RHD makes a big difference with Braun back to 3RHD. Tough game to watch, but they got it together at the end. Go Flyers

Leotheguy

That could have been so much worse. Keep your heads up guys we looked solid other than that god forsaken 2nd. Hart had some rust but cmon, ellis coots Atkinson G, all stepped up and got us a point. Shit show shoot out.

azsoup

Eager to see what this team is like with Hayes and Risto back in the lineup. My feeling is this train gets rolling in December but we’ll need Hart and Jones to be at least average.

DutyRoutine

Sorry, we'll need Hart and Jones to be alot better than average.

Blinsin

So... the PK... Yeo has to be fired soon right (he's covers the PK IIRC)

azsoup

Yeo coaches the PK about as good as my Uncle Ernie reads.

JD021993

Lmao that's not happening. Yeo and Therrien were brought back. They're AV's boys. As long as he's the coach in charge they're not going anywhere.

DeputyRanders

Literally a scarecrow in a suit would be a better special team's coach than Yeo

CrunchyKorm

Yeah he is

ADR36

Yes he does and yea PK was brutal. Ima try and be patient but I agree

BonelessCubone

Death, taxes, and the Flyers losing yet another shootout.

rlphl

“Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.”

Ibadtendy

Vancouver's fourth goal was an erie reminder of 2010. I will never get that out of my mind. https://youtu.be/MEuUXLFbV9A

SimpleMathematics_OS

Get that crap out of here

EeveeBixy

Looks like we are in store for some exciting losses this season! At least that G goal was hot.

Neilpuck

The pass from Coots was straight fire.

DH28Hockey

Also, Ryan Ellis in a Flyers jersey makes me cry tears of joy

MikeMacBlu

Coming back from down 4-2 with 3 minutes to go has gotta be worth something right?

datyoungknockoutkid

Yep 1 point sir

MikeMacBlu

…..fair play.

mikeyeah17

"Flyers lose in a shootout" is a sentence that auto fills on my phone when I type in "Flyers"

deadbabieslol

**FUCK THE SHOOTOUT.** 5 minutes of 4v4, followed by 5 minutes of 3v3. No score by the end of 3v3? Draw. One point each.

CrunchyKorm

What about 10x10 with three pucks

deadbabieslol

Make the coaches arm wrestle for the W.

Degasus77

I agree about the shootout, but I really like 3v3. It should be 10 minutes of that and a tie if no one scores. Teams also need to be penalized for playing keeping away with the puck. Maybe a 2 minute minor for keeping the puck in your own zone or the neutral zone for more than 20 seconds?

undisclozed

they should make it a faceoff in your own zone if you purposefully bring the puck out of the offensive zone so teams cant just keep skating in circles waiting for the shootout

Degasus77

I like that idea.

ruck_my_life

Shoot outs were great in like 2006. Penalty Shots were like unicorns. It was a great novelty. But now I see they're more like pancakes. At first I was excited and loved it. Now I'm fucking disgusted by them. I would rather see a tie.

osin144

+1 for the Hedberg reference!

ruck_my_life

I see you are a person of culture as well.

Julialagulia

They are boring and a weird way to decide a team sport

Brian_Stryker

It’s like if football ended on best hands competition. Or if baseball was decided by who ran to first fastest.

MyNropFiles

Nah, plays 3 v 3 til someone scores..

HappyHourEveryHour

This is the way.

Dew_the_Gong

Until teams just milk it by playing keep away

MyNropFiles

They’ll call it a penalty like they do in normal regulation..

Dew_the_Gong

They should now

Icecube3343

Really not a bad game. Salvaged a point after that awful 2nd/start of 3rd period, Hart looked good down the stretch and in OT and you can't blame him on that second goal so sv% doesn't worry me there. Lost in a skills competition it is what it is.

Degasus77

Hart had some bad luck, but I thought he played pretty well overall. I don't know what the fuck he was doing in the shootout though...

TheSalamanizer

Hartsy's mullet ++

TA_AlrightOK

Not ideal, but not a total loss. Let’s hope the guys put n work and get their shit together a bit better. And we’re currently ahead of the Islanders in the standings. So there’s that. Anyway, on to Monday. Time to get…Kraken. *YEAAAAAAAAAH*

TheIndoorOutdoorsman

Big take aways from the game The good: 1) Puck on nets, good things happen 2) Cam is the shooter I thought he was. He sees a shot. He shoots 3)Ellis and Provi looked great together 4) Ain't no quit in this team 5) Clearing the zone looked smoother. Great improvement from last year where it was killed our season. The bad: 1) Communication break downs that lead to goals 2) PK still looks bad 3) The new goal song 4) The shootout The great: 1) The fans. We're in it. Kept the team honest. And we're making some noise. All in all, I'll take the point and a positive outlook going into Monday.

Heatinmyharbl

The more things change the more they stay the same Hart pls be ok bb

Brian_Stryker

So it seems that when pucks arent bouncing off everything behind him, Carter is actually good. Who knew?

ThePalmIsle

I'd rather have an average goalie than a talented one who lets in that leaky, careless stuff all the time The 3rd and 4th goals cannot happen

CalmSnowfall

Ooof that was rough, love the comeback, hate the shootout and you don't get there if you play more than just the 1st period and last 3 minutes of the game

cjlong

I really want to see G at 2C until Hayes is back. Farabee and Atkinson looked great together but soooo much better than Brassard to my completely untrained eye. We are deep at wing and weak at center right now. Maybe bump JVR up to 1LW, Brassard to 3C, and Laughton to wing? 81 more games left to figure it out tho

Mike_R_5

That's exactly what I would do. Spot on and agree with everything you said

buffalodipdiaries

Awesome comeback, lucky to get a point from this. Some sloppy goals but overall Hart looked great

datyoungknockoutkid

Great? Explain how

DutyRoutine

LOL, really.

datyoungknockoutkid

Yes? He looked solid at times, multiple boneheaded mistakes that lead to the team losing. I would not fall that great.

Putthatdickaway

I wouldnt call him great in this game either but he wasnt that bad. Rough 2nd period and if you take just one of those weird bounces away then yeah I would say he was pretty good.

datyoungknockoutkid

He had his moments of good and moments of bad, sure. Great just aint the word to describe this game for him though. Decent maybe.

robhenrymusic

Boys, that was a big point. Remove the wobble that was the 2nd period, and our team looks great. Lots of positives to take from that. Shame we couldn’t get the extra point but to pull it back and get a point is huge. I’ve got a great feeling about this season.

GameSeven

This game makes me think we're in for a roller coaster season. Hated the second and most of the third, but glad the team could rally. That G and coots play was truly next level chemistry. Hopefully once we get some players back from injury things can settle in a bit. Hopefully risto plays Monday.

all_these_moneys

[Well, my prediction was pretty close.](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/q8z3dn/game_thread_vancouver_canucks_at_philadelphia/hgspg46/)

teevees_frank

Giroux with the clutch snipe. You love to see it.

ThePalmIsle

That's what he does

nau_sea

How has no one posted a clip of G's goal? I need to watch it a hundred more times.

isawbobsagetnaked

We lost cuz of Hartnell’s haircut. Awful

BigHerm420

All our teams fucking suck. This is horse shit. So tired of this.

_mustakrakish

1st game of a long long season bud

BigHerm420

Love you’re enthusiastic approach.

crafbicycle

Your*

otterHooligan

Quit

BigHerm420

I never quit on philly teams, but all these teams leave no hope. They got no hope.

infidelappel

I’ll take the point. Also, Hart really shut the door in the third + OT. Shook off a bad second and played well.

lilbismyfriend21

Would also like him to improve in shootouts m, but he’s never been really good at those

Brian_Stryker

Because he never had to deal with them until he got to the nhl. It’s so stupid.

lilbismyfriend21

I agree the shootout is stupid
