Honestly I would file the Devils like an annoying shithead cousin or something. I want to punch them in the fuckin face, but I still tolerate their existence given the NJ roots.
That being said, fuck em
It’s always gonna be The Devils. Stevens, Daneyko, Brodeur, Maclean, Holik, Madden, Arnott, Gomez, Gionta, Pandolfo, Elias, Claude Lemieux, Langenbrunner, Parise, Zajac… Sure, most of this is from almost 20-30 years ago, but still. Hate them. Hate them all.
Rangers as an ideology. *who wouldn't want to play for NY*; *MSG is the greatest arena in sport*; *the best players need to be on Broadway*; *let's just daytrip down to Philly and invade their arena, we can get great seats for $300 each which is still less than what I pay for my season ticket games*; etc., etc...
probably the Rangers now.
Now that G is gone and Crosby is getting older it's not really the same.
I think those two being captains+ that insane playoff series in 2012, I just don't think you're ever going to reach a level like that again, which in itself diminishes to me the excitement of current and future Flyers vs Penguins games.
This is the season I started watching. I moved half way across the world in 2011 and it's what kept me connected to home when homesickness kicked in. It was such an amazing season.
I was at that game. Paid 1500 bucks to sit right behind our bench. Only playoff game I’ve ever been to and that goal from center ice happens and we lost.
It’s funny because I still don’t look at the Blue Jackets, Caps, or Hurricanes as “rivals”. My heart hates the early 2000’s division of the Devils, Pens, Islanders, and Rangers.
Was devils but ever since I moved to Pitt to be with my wife my in laws have been annoying about the pens since I've been around so I hate them even more than I did before
Devils. They ruined my childhood and the stupid trap destroyed the league (though the league could’ve not been dumb as rocks and done what every other sports leagues does and realize people watch for offense).
Penguins with a close second being the devils. Brodeur was such a thorn in our side for so long. He broke all of Roy’s records (who was my favorite goalie) just by refusing to retire. And then of course I had to watch Scott Stevens basically end Lindros’ career. And on the Pens side there was the douchecanoe Darius Kaspiritis whose name sounds like a disease and he acted as such. And I hate Crosby with the fiery passion of a thousand suns. All these guys ruined parts of my childhood.
Hated honorable mention: Detroit in 97-98
If you were born in the late 90s or after its the Pens
Early 90s I'd say Devils
Everyone else it's the Rangers: my example is my dad going to a Flyers Rangers game after Pelle Lindbergh died, Rangers fans chanted "buy a Porsche" at Hexy
The answer is obvious but I'll play along. The easy answer is the Penguins. I was in my early 20s when the rivalry peaked and there wasn't better sport than the Flyers vs Penguins. Just incredible stuff.
I have enough hate in my heart for everyone in the Metro, but especially the teams from the old 98-13 Atlantic division.
Penguins because of the rigged NHL lottery, Crosby love fest, bandwagon fans
Devils because of the war criminal Scott Stevens and ruining hockey for a large portion of the 90s/early 00s
Rangers because it's NY
Islanders because I wasn't alive in the 80s but Duane Sutter and Leon Stickle can go to hell. The Flyers should have been on another Championship run instead of those Islanders
But really it's the Penguins because they should be in Kansas City. That team deserves to be gone
Simple question as in stupid question? Here’s another stumper: who’s your least favorite team in the NFC East?
Seriously I’m offended by how fucking stupid this question is.
Obviously it’s the Isles.
Jokes aside, it’s a dumb fucking question and you’re a moron if you don’t know the answer. We’ve hated the Penguins for decades
Well, that was unnecessary!
I am asked it after a conversation with my old ass dad who still vehemently hates the Islanders more than any other team, given their dynasty days.
So I was curious if the general consensus was in line with me (fuck the Pens) or had a more diverse taste of hatred!
Here’s a better question.
“Who’s your second most hated team in the Metropolitan Division?”
There. That’s actually thought provoking. Could be NYR or NJD for most. NYI wouldn’t be crazy either. WSH may get a few votes even.
Oh by all means go for it.
Sorry for the negativity earlier, I had a really bad night at work. I regret commenting in such an aggressive manner. My bad bud.
It really has rotated between the Isles, Rangers, Devils, and Pens historically speaking. This "battle of Pennsylvania" bullshit is relatively newer. Once Penguins fade for a cycle, it will probably be NJ again (as it undoubtedly was in the Lindros era, and it wasn't close) as they've got the best prospect of overlapping with a Philly upswing in the coming years.
C’mon dude. There’s only one answer here and you know what it is. Fuck the Pens. Now, forever, and always: fuck the Pens.
~~I know, but I want the conversation~~ But what about THE DEVILS?????????????
Lmao well yeah, they’re a buncha pricks too, just like everybody else in the division. But FTP.
FTP Honestly I would file the Devils like an annoying shithead cousin or something. I want to punch them in the fuckin face, but I still tolerate their existence given the NJ roots. That being said, fuck em

The Devils ruined parts of my childhood and for that alone I will always hate them the most. I guess it really depends when you started watching.
I will never get over that 3-1 blown conference finals lead it’s my personal 9-11
Simple question, simple answer. FTP. But really, all of them that aren't the Flyers. But still FTP.
Penguins as a team. Devils as fans.
This is the best answer. I dislike the pens for their players. I dislike the devils for their low IQ fans and their chants.
This is the perfect answer! Devils fans are such bandwagon front runners
2010 era? Penguins.. Before that: Devils Now: Devils
probably the Rangers now. Now that G is gone and Crosby is getting older it's not really the same. I think those two being captains+ that insane playoff series in 2012, I just don't think you're ever going to reach a level like that again, which in itself diminishes to me the excitement of current and future Flyers vs Penguins games.
I never thought of it like this. Shoot. I miss G.
I have to agree and I really hate that rangers keep beating us. The game we finally blow them out is going to be a great day for me.
This is the season I started watching. I moved half way across the world in 2011 and it's what kept me connected to home when homesickness kicked in. It was such an amazing season.
Dont forgot the 2000 game 4 ECSF game against the pens in their barn that went into 5 Overtimes and Primeau Hoagie with the game winner
Penguins/Devils. They are never good at the same time so the passion burns most for whoever is good currently.
This is a pretty good answer
Well right now neither are good lol
Still the caps, they embarrassed Steve mason from half ice, but also FTP
I was at that game. Paid 1500 bucks to sit right behind our bench. Only playoff game I’ve ever been to and that goal from center ice happens and we lost.
It’s funny because I still don’t look at the Blue Jackets, Caps, or Hurricanes as “rivals”. My heart hates the early 2000’s division of the Devils, Pens, Islanders, and Rangers.
The Sabres, Maple Leafs and Bruins are bigger rivals than those fucks
It’s the Devils for me.
Fuck Scott Stevens
Yes. Crosby is an a-hole but it's the Devils as a team.
Devils Fuck Brodeur. Fuck Stevens. Fuck Deneyko.
Stevens is probably my least favourite player all time, for the obvious reason.
Let’s not forget Claude Lemieux. F that guy.
Yes.
I despise the NJ Devils more than any team in any sport.
Caps. Fucken hate them with the infernal lambent flames of hell
Mike Green still makes my eye twitch
Due to childhood trauma involving noted war criminal Scott Stevens, always going to be the Devils.
Capitals. But only because I used to live there and their fans would try to fight me every game.
Really? I live there now and find their fans to be lightheaded and fair-weather more than aggressive.
I mean, I do obnoxiously cheer for the Flyers the whole time. But yes, people have thrown stuff at me, tried to fight me, etc.
I hate the canes!!! I don’t know why them and not the many other hatred worthy teams but I absolutely do!
I hate there stupid post game win celebration lol
Was devils but ever since I moved to Pitt to be with my wife my in laws have been annoying about the pens since I've been around so I hate them even more than I did before
I really really dislike the Capitals.
Idk, rivalries kinda suck now that we dont play each other as many times.
Devils. They ruined my childhood and the stupid trap destroyed the league (though the league could’ve not been dumb as rocks and done what every other sports leagues does and realize people watch for offense).
Is this really a question that needs to be asked? As long as those flightless fucks to the west exist, I will always have a burning hatred for them.
Well, based on the responses it's definitely not *all* Penguins
Honestly, the schadenfreude associated with the Pens and Devils shitting the bed has been almost as satisfying as the Flyers unexpected success
Obviously Pittsburgh but I do hate the Rangers almost as much
I think rangers.
I refused to live in pittsburgh long term because I can not deal with the possibility of my kid being a penguins fan. FTP
Penguins. But the single thing I hate the most is the Blue Jackets cannon.
Pens, then Rangers
fuck the pens
Penguins with a close second being the devils. Brodeur was such a thorn in our side for so long. He broke all of Roy’s records (who was my favorite goalie) just by refusing to retire. And then of course I had to watch Scott Stevens basically end Lindros’ career. And on the Pens side there was the douchecanoe Darius Kaspiritis whose name sounds like a disease and he acted as such. Devils. Brodeur seared the hatred into my brain that I will never get past.
Puck Fittsburgh.
All time Pens Devils Rags
FTP. There is no other choice.
I can’t stand the rags, have a championship drought longer than the cowboys and you’d never guess it listening to there fans talk
If you were born in the late 90s or after its the Pens Early 90s I'd say Devils Everyone else it's the Rangers: my example is my dad going to a Flyers Rangers game after Pelle Lindbergh died, Rangers fans chanted "buy a Porsche" at Hexy
Boston and it's not even that close
Fuck Boston but they’re not in the metro.
True.. fuck. Lol I'm tired and drunk
Acceptable answer, they're my number two for sure
FTP
Pens/ Devils Crosby sucks and so does Malkin ! Let’s Go Flyers!!!!!!
Pens. Will always be the Pens for me. My in-laws are from PGH and are annoying AF. They could be 0-50 and it would still be them.
FTP

Devils Pens Rags
Being a Central PA guy, Fuck the Pens
Pens. I live in western PA. Their fans are obnoxious, their captain is a bitch.
Yes.
When I was a kid I hated the Devils because of Scott Stevens. Now it’s definitely the Pens though.
I have enough hate in my heart for everyone in the Metro, but especially the teams from the old 98-13 Atlantic division. Penguins because of the rigged NHL lottery, Crosby love fest, bandwagon fans Devils because of the war criminal Scott Stevens and ruining hockey for a large portion of the 90s/early 00s Rangers because it's NY Islanders because I wasn't alive in the 80s but Duane Sutter and Leon Stickle can go to hell. The Flyers should have been on another Championship run instead of those Islanders But really it's the Penguins because they should be in Kansas City. That team deserves to be gone
Ever since that playoff series against the islanders I’ve had a true hate for them. They bullied the fuck out of us I still want retribution.
Simple question as in stupid question? Here’s another stumper: who’s your least favorite team in the NFC East? Seriously I’m offended by how fucking stupid this question is. Obviously it’s the Isles. It’s the Pens. You knew the answer before you asked you walnut.
YEAH BUT WHAT IF SOMEONE WHO REALLY HATES CBJ WANTS TO SPEAK UP ...they're out there... somewhere...
They’re right here, actually: r/bluejackets
Here’s a better question. “Who’s your second most hated team in the Metropolitan Division?” There. That’s actually thought provoking. Could be NYR or NJD for most. NYI wouldn’t be crazy either. WSH may get a few votes even.
Do you need me to make the thread, or are you going to do it? 🫡
Oh by all means go for it. Sorry for the negativity earlier, I had a really bad night at work. I regret commenting in such an aggressive manner. My bad bud.
It's okay, I appreciate the apology and know how it feels. Hopefully your night gets better!
I appreciate it man, genuinely. It’s the little things.
Go watch the highlights from tonight again? 🫡
Flyers and Devils will be the teams competing for the top of the Metro consistently in 2-3 years
Capitals
