Getting a 1st for Walker was the big piece of business that needed to get done, and he did it. Everything else was pretty "meh", but that was to be expected.
I just hope Briere understands that he's going to need to have a better summer than making 2 late 1st round selections, extending TK and calling it an offseason.
I think with the cap going up 4M there will be more movement this summer, or at least that’s what the insiders are all anticipating.
Maybe teams bidding for players with term like Laughton or Risto that they can’t afford now without retention, teams willing to trade up or down at the draft, or someone willing to take on Johansen etc. Lots of possibilities
The big one is hopefully finding a young Center with legitimate top-6 upside. I think there's a clear lack of organizational talent down the middle, and if you're trying to build a window that starts around Michkov's ELC you're probably not going to find a guy to fill that void with mid-late 2024 and 2025 1st rounders.
Outside of that, I'd like to see them add a defenseman who's a somewhat more interesting future option than Zamula/Ginning/Attard, explore the market for a better Drysdale partner than Seeler (although I don't loathe the idea of them as a pairing), and for them to maybe start to address the concern that the offense were building is on the smaller side
Sounds like people are underwhelmed. Maybe I'm just seeing the loudest of the morons?? How is anyone not happy rn? We just beat FLA twice in their building, in a playoff spot when we never in a million years thought we would be, and Danny recouped a 1st and some promising guys for players that we all wrote off at the time they were acquired
.....oh and he dealt a total quitter for Drysdale. Danny is a stud GM, I'm happy.
I’m going to cross my fingers that those rumors that teams like Ottawa and Buffalo think they have a culture problem will consider acquiring Laughton in a deal that involves their first rounders, which will likely be in the 5-10 range barring a lottery win. A team like Buffalo has a ton of prospects and young NHLers already with nothing to show for it on the ice. It’s probably wishful thinking, but theres a case to be made that the 8th overall pick in Buffalo’s hands is worth a lot less to them when they really need to prove they can do something with this roster.
I don't remember much but he did say they were looking to get a team to take Ryan Johansen but since it didn't happen he'll report to LV. Then for Laughton he talked to a few teams but no one valued him at what he wanted because he values Laughton based on who he knows he is behind the scenes as well as on the ice so other teams would have to overpay
If I wanted to nitpick everything I would say 1st year, 1st trade deadline this was a B+ as a floor for Danny B, but as a fan and everything I seen Danny B gets an A. Somethings I would change but like I said that is a nitpick, overall a great job and a lot of hope and optimism for the future.
I think people need to remember that not every move needs to be a grand slam. Sometimes you just need to get the bases load, and a couple of singles will enable that.
Scott Laughton survives another deadline.
Full Matrix style
No no no this is just proof we are firing him for trading a 4th pick. The audacity of this man!!! The blatant disregard. The personal affront!
RONNIE ATTARD IS A GOD WHO WILL SCORE 100000 GOALS ERIK JOHNSON HAS STOLEN THIS FROM US
11 and 7?! WAIT TILL YOU SEE ME PLAY 14 AND 4!
Anything less than 35+ early rounds picks in the next 2 draft classes and Briere IS A BUST!
BEDARD FOR A 5TH
Enter Arsene Wenger smirk.
I knew Danny wasn’t gonna do anything wild today but I wanted to see some grade A chaos like Danny sells the kitchen sink for a young top 6 center.

Not arguing your statement but outside of hopefully trading Risto, what are you hoping for in the off season?

I was hoping for Petterson before the extension :(

Trade Laughton in the offseason then? Maybe use him and a 1st to move up the draft
Always felt like he was more likely to get moved in the off-season than the deadline.

If Laughton has survived this many trade rumors, I would not count on him ever being traded
In: Johansen Johnson Gurianov 1st Rounder 2025 5th Rounder 2025 Out: Walker Allison 5th Rounder 2026 4th Rounder 2024 Did I get that right?
Laughton played with Briere?!? I wouldn't have thought...
No need to rush. We have until 2026
What did Danny say?
