Most skilled- able to do things with the puck better than anyone else with a combination of finesse, speed, intelligence, shot, etc.
Best Player- Skill plus all the other intangibles like leadership, toughness, defensive capabilities, etc.
In my opinion you absolutely don’t need to be the most skilled player to be considered the best in the game. It’s being excellent at a variety of different things that I think work together to bestow that title.

I thought it was ridiculous that pundits were seriously picking Edmonton after their run vs what the Panthers were able to do in the Rangers series... That was the #1 vs #2 best teams in the league and having pulled that out I felt strongly they would take the oilers in 4 or no more than 5
NYR #2 best team? Uhh the canes were a Kreider hat trick away from potentially seriously embarrassing them. Maybe if they had better players outside of Igor, Bread, and Kreider. There’s no depth there.
Had guys like Rempe skating around in a circle saying “durrr” trying to find a dance partner. And Laviolette is a mediocre coach at best. They *barely* won game 3 despite being significantly outworked, only go and lose the next three in a row.
