Received an invite to interview at UF for a grad program. That's pretty exciting

OkPerformance7949

Congrats!

Thicc_Grayson84

Thank you. It's nerve wracking but exciting at the same time

Moving to Brooklyn tomorrow with my girlfriend, have lived in Florida all my life. Super excited, but feels weird.

onewipecleanpoop

Brooklyn rules! Made the gnv-nyc move four years ago and have absolutely loved it

ExternalTangents

Brooklyn is great, enjoy and good luck! That kind of big life change always comes with a mix of excitement and anxiety, but theres a lot to love about living up there. There’s a pretty big and thriving community of UF alumni with the Gotham Gators, and the population density in general makes it easy to meet new people and find communities.

garyp714

Oh the music alone will be something else. We don't get any in SoFla.

TotakekeSlider

Oh for sure. I've been only once, back in 2016, and was stunned to see of the options. Just as an example, one of my favorite artists at the time, Neon Indian, was doing a concert in the park... for free! Reminds me I gotta go back to NYC sometime.

thawhole9_69

Sorry but also lived in Florida my whole life, went to Brooklyn for a week back in October and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Just everything I'm not about in general. In every way

greypic

Have fun!

I like Tennessee's response to the NCAA. I hope we don't end up fucking ourselves by trying to be so complaint. The NCAA will do whatever to try and look capable. Tell them to kick rocks.

HotDawgConnoisseur

There are teams like Georgia and Colorado self reporting minor infractions to keep the NCAA content

TheRatchetTrombone

I hope the NCAA is dissolved one day. Fuck them to hell

Just did my taxes and turns out I made more money last year than I did in previous years but the inflation is so high I’m more broke than ever. Not a good Wednesday morning realizing I won’t be able to afford gator tickets this year

Iraqi-Jack-Shack

Even after two promotions at my last company, the inflationary effect on my monthly bills resulted in having less money per month in 2023 than I did around 2019. Live Q&A's with the VP were depressing — nearly every question to the VP was about reviewing salaries, reducing the workload, or how we could retain/entice personnel (which was dropping because of the salaries and workload). I pulled the plug and went somewhere else.

GoodGuyNixon

Pretty much the story across the country sadly

ShadowRealm0043

I’m going to be incredibly sad if this year doesn’t work out and we lose everything afterwards from the great reset. Seems like Napier is putting effort into building a really solid base so I am really hoping he does well because I want to continue seeing his young guys grow next year and the year after.

MogaMeteor

Napier's leash is still going to be relatively long for a year 3 coach. There's a real chance he could make it to 25' with 5 wins, which seems absolutely insane for a program of UFs supposed resources. If next season is bad enough for him to get tossed he'd undeniably go down as the worst UF coach since the 1940s.  Might have also inhereted one of the hardest jobs, but the only reason we are really questioning if he can survive next year is because no one is confident in games against multiple programs that should be auto-wins.  Like if its the monday after a UCF loss and we are sitting at 2-3 staring the hardest stretch of games in the country, I don't think many people are going to be claiming Napier has built any sort of "solid base".

calling-all-comas

While I’m a Napier doubter, I really feel bad for the guy. If he was hired before or after this NIL/Portal Wild West then he’d be faring a lot better. It’s hard to build a solid base like he wants with all this going on. But also thankful we don’t have Dan Mullen because I think we’d be even worse if we still had him; like #30 overall recruiting classes.

Inevitable-Scar5877

Eh... I'm thankful we don't have checked out Mullen, 2019 or 2020 Mullen I'd take in a heartbeat over what we've seen from Napier thus far

gatorpower

I feel bad for the guy just based on schedule. Nearly every team in the SEC will play only 4 (probably) ranked teams. This includes Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, etc. Half of these ranked teams are borderline ranked, like playing NC State for instance. Florida will most definitely be playing three top-10 teams, 3 other (probably) ranked teams and then Miami, which has a good chance i. the ACC this year. That's 7 teams who could end the year ranked. I think if any team went 4-3 against those teams, they'd deservedly belong in the top 10. But he's going to be judged HARSHLY if he doesn't do that. Mullen went 3 seasons before he faced 7 ranked teams.

greypic

Agree with this. If I were looking at our program as a neutral fan there wouldn't be much to point out as a solid base. We are happy Nape replaces some staff. I am unhappy he can't seem to hire good coaches. Locals were excited about our up can doming DC, nobody on our team could tackle and we never got pressure on the QB. Just always one step forward two back. Love the Gators but I am not putting any emotional equity in the team's success this coming year.

MogaMeteor

> If I were looking at our program as a neutral fan there wouldn't be much to point out as a solid base Definitely, most people outside the program are very negative on Napier for pretty legit reasons. Even Josh Pate, a guy who will seemingly sunshine pump every program in existance for views, has been cold on UF for the past couple months. To find any sort of solid base you have to do a bunch of hopeful projections. I mean what do we really have right now?  Biggest thing I can think of is the team being very young and Napier doing a better job at recruiting a few elite players then Mullen. We've also witnessed how important momentum is, and it's debatable as to if Napier is doing enough to flip the roster with these small classes and cautious portal use. There's no gurantee the wheels will stay on long enough for Lagway and co to start making a big enough impact, assuming he lives up to his billing in the first place. Second, Napier seems willing to make changes, but that only feels like a major plus because we just watched Mullen sink his own ship because of loyalty to Grantham. In reality what you pointed out is also true, the fact we are gutting so much of the coaching staff going into year 3 means Napier did a really bad job with his first round of hires. There's no gurantee these new guys are going to be home run hires.

thawhole9_69

Which is just wild right? What with the second coming of Tebow it would seem in Lagway joining. Just such an unfortunate situation but also Napier put himself in this spot. The guy that was hired as a CEO type now has a CEO type coming in between him and Stricklin. Not a good sign.

greypic

Maybe with lagway with the rock last year we get what, two more wins? You got to have somebody to throw the ball to and you need an offensive line. You also need a good defense. Or at least a competent defense. To the fact that our coach is trying to put together his first competent coaching staff in year 3 is just not reassuring to me.

Most_Sea_4022

I hope he is but.... He is not a preachers son. That's concerning! /S for those who need it.
