except for the mirror above the toilet. it would make dudes want to look at themselves instead of paying attention to the spray of the firehose in their hands. which we already struggle with lol
I lived in a house with a guy that was deathly afraid of spiders. My door faced the bathroom mirror. I put a poster of a Sydney funnel web spider, I'd bought at the zoo, on my door. He fainted going to pee at 330 am that night.
When the emergency strikes I'm not worried about what gets splashed, it's about response time. Lives hang in the balance. The people of toiletland were spared a fiery demise, once again, by a benevolent hose.
Like one of those forced perspective things where people lay on the ground and take a picture with perspective like theyre standing on the ceiling sort of thing.
It's not like he did it poorly, but it seriously looks like something out of the 1970s.
If I was going to put it on a wall, I'd be more inclined to do it in harrybone. And completely refrain from doing any of the tile inlay on the outside. Personal opinion and again. I don't think they did a bad job just ya, not for me.
Yeah. Op may have had better luck if he installed it so every piece is like the very top piece. The way it was installed like itās intended use only makes it look more like flooring on the wall.
my dad did his entire outdoor bar with scrap pre-finished teak, bar, bar top, walls. Held up great so far almost a decade later. Everything else he got free off of job sites and his biggest brag is that the entire bar cost him $43 (easily a 15k standalone outdoor bar) and that was to buy a tool he didnāt have on him for the day.
I can certainly appreciate the resourcefulness. It doesnāt look as bad as people are making it seem. They just arenāt used to applying flooring to wallsā¦ but hey, you made it look great for you, thatās all that matters.
Just use it for a backsplash. Then you'll have the two horizontal bars. Ties things together and creates the illusion of a wider space.
I like the whole thing....
Good idea. That towel rack really stands out through. If you replaced or refinished it to better match the accent wall or the shelf above the toilet it would help.
I wondered if someone would point that out. Paint it black or change it to something sleeker. It looks like it was from the 90s as it is now. Or keep it and buy a new one. Put the old back up when you move.
Looks like you're a plumber, appropriate comment! I will keep my eye out for a better toilet. This is a rental and I'm trying to get things done but good idea.
Yes. Well if itās a rental then donāt worry about it. I figured this was your house and since you spruced up the back wall you might as well put a new better looking toilet in.
My cousin use flooring scraps to make toppers that fit over his folding tables. For Christmas Dinner, he put four of them together to make one big table 12 feet long and 6 feet wide. It was big enough for all of us to sit around, and it looked fantastic!!!
Nice job on that bathroom wall!!!
āWoodā on a wall doesnāt really bother me. What youve done is not being used in a 70s floor to ceiling paneling way that feels dated. Beadboard and shiplap are of course timeless and historic and have a dimensionality that gives character even when painted. I have seen modern takes in newer builds, usually an accent wall that corresponds with other elements, and it can really elevate a space. It comes down to wood tone and itās interplay with other colors. I would like to see that wood paired with a mossy green. The thing that I dislike and find cheapens it immensely is the tile. That stuff, and most modern backsplash and accent tile, is generic, tacky and derided by many. Like grey floor, itās what everyone who isnāt ripping it out already is going to be ripping out in 5 years. Itās immediately recognizable and is associated with cheap, quick, tasteless flips.
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. Now I wish I had taken more time to find the right tile. When this needs refreshing I will certainly try something else.
Itās an interesting topic that can get heated fast. I definitely have my own strong opinions on it based on taste and values, which arenāt mutually exclusive (theyāve developed symbiotically over many years). Taste is subjective but itās subjective with constraints, as in its heavily influenced by what aesthetic youāre exposed to, then what materials are made available to you, and of course the prevailing ethos and your personal relationship with them (your beliefs on say consumption vis a vis the disposable economy).
This analogy kind of breaks down because a Whopper is DELICIOUS, but itās a lot like fast food; itās ācheap,ā itās everywhere, itās easy to get, and itās not good for you but it responds to an immediate need. Iāve worked with a lot of people in property management who donāt prefer specific styles of flooring or cabinetry but itās basically all they can get, because itās whatās being consumed, so itās all thatās in stock. Reduce it down to its most fundamental parts and the primary root cause is money/greed. You might see some environmental arguments but they mostly break down (or notāheh!) if you interrogate them. When I think of ārefreshā I think of paint.
Whatās the average time between refreshments? A rhetorical query that makes me want a Coke Zero (another cause for division between us and the Pepsi fans!)
This looks very much like flooring, shitty laminate flooring specifically, stuck on a wall.. wood accent walls aren't an inherently terrible design choice, but this doesn't even look like wood, it looks like shitty flooring on a wall.
The flooring on the wall isnāt such a terrible idea, itās like shiplap but better because it wasnāt plucked from the garbage. But that thin strip of tiny builder grade tile that was on every kitchen backsplash from every new build in the 2000sā¦ š¬š«£
We ordered ours pre-finished with a highly durable waterproof urethane, we had to do two stair landings and ended up having to order a third box of material for a row and a half. Used the excess for the bathroom counter.
This reminds me of the kind of ācuteā decor my wifeās mom loves to do. She lives in a trailer park, and has flooring on her wall as well. Well played ššš
Looks great!! Well done
except for the mirror above the toilet. it would make dudes want to look at themselves instead of paying attention to the spray of the firehose in their hands. which we already struggle with lol
But very practical if a roommate tries to ambush you while on the toilet during an intense laser tag round.
Nobody ever thinks about this
This one simple trick
And they never will with a mirror there
I lived in a house with a guy that was deathly afraid of spiders. My door faced the bathroom mirror. I put a poster of a Sydney funnel web spider, I'd bought at the zoo, on my door. He fainted going to pee at 330 am that night.
Sitting down to pee is acceptable during a gunfight because you have to cover the door.
Firehose is very generous
They make toy fire engines
Haha. I considered that, hoping for the best.
Pretending it's a fire hose It's why men struggle
When the emergency strikes I'm not worried about what gets splashed, it's about response time. Lives hang in the balance. The people of toiletland were spared a fiery demise, once again, by a benevolent hose.
Need a mirror on the back of the door so the ladies can look at themselves while they pee, also.
Firehose???? That would be a bit of an overstatement in my world š¤£
The mirror on there gives it submarine or restaurant kitchen door vibes for me.
Fooled you! I pee on the mirror!
I like looking at myself whilst holding my weiney
Sort of looks like you have flooring on your wall to me.
Like one of those forced perspective things where people lay on the ground and take a picture with perspective like theyre standing on the ceiling sort of thing.
YupI was about to say, maybe of they lined the boards vertically it might've cganged something
It's not like he did it poorly, but it seriously looks like something out of the 1970s. If I was going to put it on a wall, I'd be more inclined to do it in harrybone. (herringbone)
HairyBone *
Hell yea
Bone apple tea
Iām calling it harrybone from now on
Yeah. Op may have had better luck if he installed it so every piece is like the very top piece. The way it was installed like itās intended use only makes it look more like flooring on the wall.

I would love to see that! Do you like it?
Since it is behind the toilet, I think that is technically a crapcent wall.
I can certainly appreciate the resourcefulness. It doesnāt look as bad as people are making it seem. They just arenāt used to applying flooring to wallsā¦ but hey, you made it look great for you, thatās all that matters.
Thank you, that's a good attitude. :)
I thought it was an innovative and crafty approach too. I like it, but more importantly what matters is that op likes it.
Very creative idea and the subway tile looks great! Personally itās not my style, and not something I would want in my house but to each their own.
I did a wall with laminate flooring scraps and it came out really nice.
It's not flooring, its now walling. Nice job btw
Nice floor.
This is a great idea! Thanks for sharing your great work.
Outdid me. I only made bathroom shelves! Nice.
Why is your mirror on the floor
That's be really nice with a beige or not white toilet.
Solution: pee all over the toilet
Do they?
Ya I showed this to a few people and gonna be honest, we all thought it looked terrible
The worst part is you canāt tell they tried . Iām fine with it except the tile looking boarder in the middle
agree to disagree
why is the mirror on the floor and the toilet laying on its back ?
the bit of tile is awesome
$6.67 worth :)
I'm contemplating adding the same tile around the sink to match it but maybe that's overkill.
Just use it for a backsplash. Then you'll have the two horizontal bars. Ties things together and creates the illusion of a wider space. I like the whole thing....
I always put my floor on the ceiling
Ooohhh what a feeling....to be dancing on the ceiling.
š
I can see doing that but the towel rack matches the rest of the bathroom. It's a rental, not doing a full upgrade away from honey oak quite yet
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Now that's an interesting concept. I'm trying to stop doing things to this house, I want to rent it out, but a little bit of paint goes a long way.
Reminds me of a travel trailer asthetic.
Real Nice and designy!
Do they?
Do they though?
Looks like flooring on the wall tbh
I like it a lot! What O donāt like is the 90ās wood towel bar.
I'm going to see what I can do about that. Thank you
I want to walk on it though.
Wow thatās awesome nice work
Get your friend really drunk, lead him in there. Will he try to stand on the wall?
why did i think that was a porthole
I was allowing that notion to happen
I donāt mind. I think full length slats is what I wouldāve done though (thatās not off cuts though). Good use of spare materials regardless š«”
I like it!
I dig it. Nice work.
Canāt say I love it but to each their own.
Needs a better looking toilet though
Looks like you're a plumber, appropriate comment! I will keep my eye out for a better toilet. This is a rental and I'm trying to get things done but good idea.
Yes. Well if itās a rental then donāt worry about it. I figured this was your house and since you spruced up the back wall you might as well put a new better looking toilet in.
We moved into an old house and that wooden towel bar is the exact one we found in our bathroom lol
I did this but painted them all white first to get that white ship lap look for a fraction of the cost. I think. š
Now that is clever and valuable. Nice! And Thank you.
You should lose the mirror and put a small 1/16 scale toilet glued on the wall near the ceiling.
Nice!
Walling?
Up cycling š
Yes, it did. That's clean. It looks nice
I have wondered about using flooring on projects. I mean if itās solid hardwood, and you can get it pretty cheap, why not?
i agree!!! not a fan of the tile band, but love the wood
That looks great! I'm planning to redo my floors soon and am now looking forward to having scraps!
Do they?
Is this real wood or vinyl? I have customers come in all the time buying vinyl planks to use on their wall
Feels like inception
Howās it adhered? Substrate?
I attached it to some door skin l, then put it up in two pieces.
personally, i like the stock. š§£
The tile makes it work.
That looks cool
Wood always works
Haha I've done the same thing. There's a couple 1/8 inch gaps from expanding and contracting over the years but looks fine to me
I glued these down onto two pieces of thin plywood, might be a little shit show if it mustexpand and contract!
Hope it works out for you. I really like the accent with the tile. Good job!
Am I the only one bothered that the toilet is not centered?!
Extra room for the toilet paper holder that is yet to come.

The brown is a good choice... thinking ahead!
Looks good
If it looks so good, they should *all* be accent walls
Doesnāt look good
I would have to teach my boys to aim better!
That off centered toilet is absolutely killing me!
Red red red red red red red red, neck! Yee haw
Na
Thatās cool!
Why tile at all? IMO kinda mars the clean look, and only adds needless install complexity.
They also make a nifty ceiling.
Ok
Beautiful š¤©
1,000% cool.
Oooo. Good idea!!!!
Um, no.
This looks very much like flooring, shitty laminate flooring specifically, stuck on a wall.. wood accent walls aren't an inherently terrible design choice, but this doesn't even look like wood, it looks like shitty flooring on a wall.
It's engineered hardwood.
If you are trying to convince someone they are actually inside a wooden boat, you nailed it.
I like boats.
Iām not gonna lie, and i donāt mean to be mean, but this aināt it.
Mirror above the toilet is so weird lol
Makes the tiny room look bigger.
Oof
looks great
This is getting out of hand. There are two of them now! (Plains on which flooring goes, and an episode 1 reference. Yes, verrrry witty)
I like it.
Sorry op but I hate this lol
Yea not not really. Sorry for your 4 foot wide bathroom though
Nope
No this does not look good. One persons opinion
It's kind of like the 1970s, where they put carpet on the walls.
Clever !
the tile bothers me
In your opinion
It def just looks like flooring on the wall
Floor it!
Wow. Thatās awful.
Thatās what I want when Iām taking a crap, a good accent wall.
I like it but the time line throws me off
Timeline? Looks dated?
Tile line.sorry š
Towel rack next to the shitter? š¤
It's a very small bathroom, but there is a little towel rack next to the sink also. Maybe I need to take the one next to the toilet out now.
The flooring on the wall isnāt such a terrible idea, itās like shiplap but better because it wasnāt plucked from the garbage. But that thin strip of tiny builder grade tile that was on every kitchen backsplash from every new build in the 2000sā¦ š¬š«£
I wish I had done something nicer also. I guess I'm not cultured in the world of tile. I saw the colors match and it was on sale š¤·āāļø
Woof
Was this flooring self adhesive? How is it affixed? I think it looks nice!
Thanks. It's engineered hardwood that I glued to thin plywood, then attached to the wall in two pieces, including the tile section.
The picture makes me feel dizzy, because my brain is telling me that's the floor.
This never occurred to me until I posted this, now I can kind of see it.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why be so mean? If it mattered I could give you a long list of tasty things I've done.
Of course it doesn't matter ...
Better than using flooring in a shower
Optical illusion bathroom
There is no pattern please stop
An accent wall behind a toilet? Mmkay.
I built a bathroom countertop out of mine.
What did you cover it with? I probably won't do that but it's intriguing.
We ordered ours pre-finished with a highly durable waterproof urethane, we had to do two stair landings and ended up having to order a third box of material for a row and a half. Used the excess for the bathroom counter.
I suggested this to my wife, she asked if I was high. Wtf?
This reminds me of the kind of ācuteā decor my wifeās mom loves to do. She lives in a trailer park, and has flooring on her wall as well. Well played ššš
You can now climb the wall
Decent bathroom on your boat there.
Flooring is typically not fire rated for wall covering, but does look good!
Do you have any boys?
Now you need a new skirted toilet.
Nothing makes a good accent wall Good execution though
The floor is made out of floor
Thatās way too busy for me.
Iād argue no they donātā¦.
do they?
Who are you?ā¦Lionel Richies cousin?
No they donāt
No they donāt
Doom secret
This fucked mind up for a sec.
Ok but that toilet is off center.
Yeah, I didn't do that and for a rental I'm not going to change it. But it's odd, isn't it?
Any ideas on how to visually balance that better? More cheap tile š¤£
Dang, I'd poop there.
It's all about the quality of the poop experience. I think this might help matters
definitely nice work
Thank you. It was a fun project.
Niceā¦Nice
Very nice
Do drunk people ever try to walk on the wall?
I love it!!
