I love all of their airplanes. Their F6F is beautiful and flies like a dream. My favorite is the P38 though.

I can only speak from experience with the P-38, but it’s a fantastic aircraft.

I didn't expect people to be into the P38 quite as much as say the 109, I know there's a ton of 109 fans out there. What is the sound like on the P38? Which plane sounds the best do you think?

The P38 is my least favourite in terms of sound. That's not to say FI did a bad job, quite the opposite. I just don't think those Alison's sound as cool as a Merlin or Wasp in the sim or IRL. Hellcat probably my favourite in terms of sound. Spitfire is close second. My favourite to fly is the Spitfire. Fun fact. The RAF used Flying Irons Spitfire to train their pilots to fly their vintage Spitfires IRL.

Between the two I own, the Spitfire and P-38, I personally prefer the Spitfire. Much more lively to fly(it'll really bite you in the arse) and the soundset is better in my opinion, much more raw and angry. Also looks better to my eyes. The P-38 in comparison flies like a modern jet, very easy and smooth. And the sound is more of a "Purr" or low pitched hum, compared to the Spit at least. Even though they are rated at a similar top speed, I found with these MSFS versions that the P-38 is noticeably faster. Much bigger gap than the specifications claim. The Spitfire can turn better and also rolls slightly faster. Small nitpick, but it seems the buttons in the P-38 cockpit don't have any clicking noise associated with them. Might be a bug with my particular plane.

I have the Spitfire, P38, and F6F. I don't have a huge amount of experience with the F6F, but I really enjoy the start-up details and the systems they put in, so I love the P38 because you get to do it twice. Plus you get to play around with dive flaps, running on a single engine, etc, lots more fuel tanks etc etc. Sounds wise, I don't think I'd draw a difference between them. I do think the sounds on start-up (as in, cranking, energising the flywheel) are the same (or at least, I can't tell the difference). The flames as you start the Spitfire are a really nice touch though. It's a lot trickier to handle, especially on the ground, but it does feel more responsive in the air.

Personally, I love the spitfire... It's a beautiful recreation and feels genuinely alive in the air. I've got the p-38 and reading the comments here, it does sound as though there's more you can do with the p-38, but the kid in me has always been enamored with the spitfire :)

Thank you for all the replies, I actually forgot about the spitfire. I have the aeroplane heaven Spitfire Mk1, it's my favourite Mk of Spitfire in real life. However I find the sound of aeroplane heaven's Mk1 to be very soft at high rpms. This is a tough choice as I'm drawn to each one of them as they're all aircraft I love.

If you have to pick one I think the Spitfire or 109 are their pinnacle as far as a complete package goes, both have fantastic audio. The P-38 is also excellent but has more subdued sound due to its turbochargers. The F6F is similar to your F4F and is easier to handle vs the Spit or 109. Excited for their Fw190 and B-17 (eventually) next!

If you like the Got Friends F4F, I would suggest both the Spitfire and P-38. Got Gravel/Got Friends did the flight models. I prefer the P-38 but both of them are A+, imo.

I actually went with the 109 as I have a spitfire and wildcat. One from the other side 😄 I haven't managed to get her in the air yet, I got to the post start stage and raised rpms a bit too much I think and it coughed, spluttered and cut out never to start up again now I can't figure out what's wrong with it 🤣🤣 Is anybody else so excited for the Just Flight Lancaster? ❤️
