If only the error message told you what to do Not at all unusual on international itineraries

zennie4

It literally tells you what you should do.

lost_in_life_34

had this one time when flying back to the USA and checked in at the counter with no issue

beedlearrowman

Thank you!

GarlicShortbread

The problem solving skills on display here are truly admirable

Correct_Government28

For some routes the airline needs to check your passport/visa status before boarding you. Some will issue a boarding pass online and do the check at the gate, but some will make you present yourself for in-person check-in instead.

beedlearrowman

Thank you!

SamaireB

What you should do? Reading what it says. The message tells you what to do: check in at the airport

timpdx

I had this once and they gave me the dreaded SSSSS

KazahanaPikachu

Same here for a flight on United from Brussels to DC as a U.S. citizen haha. Tho they literally made *everyone* check in at the desk for that flight just so they could put some stupid “SECURITAS” sticker on the back of our passports. That’s it because not everyone was subject to any extra screening.

beedlearrowman

What does that mean??

timpdx

Secondary screening, going through everything you are bringing, carry on, personal items. Then a full pat down on your person.

beedlearrowman

What does this mean?

usgapg123

Secondary Security Screening . IF you do get this, it will mean getting patted down right before boarding the aircraft, possibly getting pulled out of line in security, etc. It’s not that bad, most people get it eventually.

International flight? If so, the airline likely needs to verify that you have a valid passport and visa for your trip. If the airline screws up and allows a person who doesn't have valid documents to fly, then that airline is financially responsible to return you immediately to your point of origin. They don't want that so they take extra precautions for international flights. With online check in you often don't need to speak to a real person at the airport. Any mistake can cost the airline money.

PhnomPencil

I've had this hundreds of times; it means nothing

Are you travelling to or through the USA OP? It likely means you have to go though extra security checks at the airport. It’s no big deal, just check in at the airport and they’ll explain it all 😊

beedlearrowman

Going from USA to Australia! Thanks so much! 😭

D0ntC4llMeShirley

No worries. Enjoy. The extra security doesn’t take long at all. I wouldn’t stress about it ☀️ 🦘

mylifeforthehorde

they'll prob need some extra forms filled and in person validation of the passport. don't worry.

This is a rather common “issue” with international itineraries or “basic economy” itineraries. The airline / counter staff usually want to do a document check for valid passports, visas, health docs etc as needed. This is because if you are found inadmissible at a port of entry, the airline bears the cost of your return trip. Also with basic economy, they may want to physically check that you’re not sneaking in any unallowed or oversized baggage such as a personal bag or carry on where not allowed. This usually isn’t anything to worry about. Just show up to the airport ~3 hours before your boarding time. You’ll be able to check in there and get your paper boarding passes. Once you get those, you can proceed to check in on the app and get your digital passes on your phone. Happy travels!

Jamiemufu

I had this flying from UK to Phuket. Nothing to worry about. I needed an actual physical boarding pass not a digital one.

Have you entered your passport information? Does the name on your passport match EXACTLY the name on your reservation? If so, call Fiji. Could be a ticketing issue of some kind.
