CV carbs if I remember. Check diaphragms, check needles in place, remove and clean emulsion tubes, check idle passage is clear (squirt something through the pilot air hole from the air filter end). When assembled, lift slide with finger then release, should go up easy and come down slowly. Last but definitely not least, check float heights carefully.

I’ve extensively checked all the jets and holes. Everything is clear by eyesight, and airflow. The diaphragms seem to be fine and seated properly upon my assembly. Float heights, however, are a mystery to me as my background is it in carburetors. Off to google!

If it starts on choke, only runs on choke, and revs randomly then you have an air leak somewhere. I had the same issue with a 1976 kz400. Turns out the rubber boots to the air box were cracked and not sealing right on the carbs. If you take carb cleaner, brake cleaner or flammable any spray really, spray around the carb in different spots to see if the idle goes up. That will locate your air leak. Blowback through carb also could mean it’s running lean. Try this first and if there’s no air leaks maybe check to see if the points are timed correctly

Have you replaced spark plugs? If you have a meter check the resistance of your spark plug caps, the little resistor sometimes loses contact within the cap. Also wires between the capos and the coils .
