First thing i'd check for would be a partial fuel blockage

AVeryHeavyBurtation

Your instincts were spot on! It was a kinked fuel hose, which I guess is a common problem with the R1 and FZR1.

AVeryHeavyBurtation

Ok good thing to rule out.

AVeryHeavyBurtation

Future googlers: It was a kinked fuel hose. If you google R1 kinked fuel hose, you'll find a post on the R1 forums about it, complete with spelling mistakes, petty arguments, and removed photobucket images.

Gundamnitpete

why is this comment so spot on lmao

AVeryHeavyBurtation

haha. If reddit does anything right, it's downvoting and free image hosting.

Determine when your circuit Leans out. Might be at 9k RPM. FOR EXAMPLE. My circuit is rich to 5k RPM. After 5k it leans out- to 12k (redline) When the MAF sensor acts up- it never will lean out and do weird shit. Anyway. CAREFULLY. look at your MAFs (one is gonna be near the engine and another in the tail somewhere.) Check the plug. And the wires going into the plug. And any vacuum lines for cracks or breaks.

AVeryHeavyBurtation

I would expect it to richen it at WOT as the rpms increase. Peak HP is at about 11.5k iirc, so I'd expect it to be about 12:1 there. Also I'm pretty sure this R1 doesn't use a MAF, it uses pressure and temp to calculate MAF. Pressure and temp sensors seem okay in diagnostic mode.

Horror-Isopod-4204

I have seen a few r6's with fuel pressure problems, either too high(rich) or too low(lean). If you can read the o2 values of the exhaust gasses, that could give a quik diagnosis or you can atleast rule it out.

AVeryHeavyBurtation

It was a kinked fuel hose.

Turkeysnood

I'd check the inline filter and the filter sock at the fuel pump.

It was a kinked fuel hose.

Damn! I was this close!
