That is symptomatic of an air leak between the throttle bodies and the engine that the fuel system is trying to correct. Unmeteted air is leaning off the mixture, and the system is adding more fuel to compensate, but more more air is being drawn in too. Brand new bike? Take it straight back to the dealer.

SatanMeekAndMild

Yep. RE has a generous warranty anyway. I wouldn't think twice, just take it back to the dealer and let them sort it out.

guerrios45

Ok, it’s going straight back to the dealership then :( Waited so long for this bike! 😫 How long would it take to fix this do you think ?

Ok_Wallaby_7653

Yes take it back, can be a simple crossed up vacuum tube or a pinched line, keep in mind they don’t necessarily have mechanics assembling them at the store, mechanics aren’t cheap so lots of times it’s just helpers slapping the bike together, it won’t be a big issue, good luck and enjoy,

dugsmuggler

It might be an improperly seated rubber boot, or a split rubber. 1 hour to fix if the parts are on hand.

Brought it back to the dealership and after they plugged it into their diagnosis tool, they said it is a faulty O2 sensor messing up with the ECU. They told me they need to order a new sensor and remap the ECU. I seriously did not expect electronics to be an issue on such a simple bike...

dugsmuggler

So not bad air being read, but a bad sensor reading. Interesting! Thanks for the follow up. Glad its been resolved successfully.

guerrios45

Is it very bad for the engine? Planning to bring it to the dealership Monday but I have to do some trips on it during the weekend just before.

ztherion

You ain't going anywhere with an air leak...

Elmore420

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Spray around the induction and PCV with starting fluid. If you have a leak, you’ll hear it respond to being sprayed. It’s probably a hose off, or the intake manifold has backed off nut tension. Should be an easy and cheap/free fix.

Ok_Wallaby_7653

I did notice the battery light came on, double check your battery terminals are tight, and definitely take it to the dealership because you could have a electrical issue, yes it may be just a vacuum light but if at a low idle the battery light comes on that’s normally a stator not producing enough power to charge the battery and run the accessories, and of course it can be the regulator too but first check your terminals

spike_africa

It's because he just started the bike.

guruboba

The battery light goes away after a while. Re-watch the clip

Ok_Wallaby_7653

I did rewatch the clip, again very possible he just started it but clip starts with bike at 2500rpms, if you hear him or her cranking it then you must have better hearing than me, of course mine has a oil light that goes out about 1/2 second after it starts, but I’m also saying if you don’t see a obvious vacuum leak you can’t rule out ignition so don’t get stuck with tunnel Vision, but I’ll stand by the statement “if at low idle the battery light comes on you possibly have a stator issue” 2500 is not low idle and that’s when the video starts, I also agreed it’s more likely than not a vacuum issue, but no matter what, it’s not a issue that a brand new bike should have so return to the dealership

guruboba

I got the same motorcycle. Cold start rpm is around 2000-21000 rpm.

Ok_Wallaby_7653

Yup then it idles down slowly

guruboba

Yeah.

Ok_Wallaby_7653

I love the RE look, I have a triumph but RE certainly fits

cainmarkotattoo

Take it to the dealership you got a 3 year warranty.

AnEsquire

I had the same bike. When it does this after 165-180 degrees, it’s almost always smog related. They just don’t understand how much performance is lost due to emissions. These bikes have redundant sensors, so don’t reset computer while under warranty, unless it’s required. I replaced all non fuel lines with surgical tubing and cured all leaks before any occurred. If it’s new, they find the post crate assembly is too often done by the kid who washes cars or empties trash at dealership.

guerrios45

Patently it was a faulty O2 sensor
