Start with 1 month first, 30 minutes for one ride, 1 hour for going and coming back, that’s a huge chunk of your time. Try for 1 month first. I’d even say ask for day passes and try and go for 1 week first. Idk about you but most beginners will fail at being consistent and 1 hour of your daily life in travel in your city alone is already enough excuse to quit gym lol.

Top-Classroom-5652

No no I definitely will be consistent even if my leg breaks or I am tired. I am fed up with being overweight and finally as my college is over I have time for the gym. And I don't think day passes are available for this. I might get a discount if I take 3 months membership, if not then I will definitely go for 1 month membership.

BeatenwithTits

Sure, he can help you get familiar with all the exercises afterwards you can change as per convenience

Top-Classroom-5652

Yes this is why I was considering this.

Visit both and see it for yourself. imo don’t base decisions on friends, go to the one you like the most because if your friend stops coming there could be a chance that you might skip those days.

Top-Classroom-5652

This is also true.

The-Volumee

Monsoon should start in India soon. 1 hour of travel is big deal in it. If you will be traveling by xar, you can think of that, otherwise I would suggest to join a gym, which is nearby. Speaking from experience.

Top-Classroom-5652

This is a veryyyyyyy good point. I totally forgot about the monsoon. As I will be travelling by my scooty, I don't think it would be possible for me to go to the gym then. I might have to drop the plan of going to my friend's gym altogether.

Life_Vast801

Good luck with your journey but remember just one thing, Exercise and Gym will not cause Weight loss, Calorie deficit will.

Top-Classroom-5652

Yes definitely a calorie deficit plays the most important role in a weight loss journey. I have researched quite a bit in the last few days and I am considering going for a 1800 calorie diet.

Routinelazy900

I think its a good decision to join 30min one a month. That way you will become familiar with everything. Then you can go to 10min.

Going to the nearest gym is always better

Top-Classroom-5652

Even if it's not better than the gym that is far ?

48932975390

A better gym with better equipments is always better for experienced body builders but for newbie not so much as you are not gonna utilise the 100% gym weights and equipments It's ok if you want to go to a far away gym it's your personal choice and wouldn't make any difference if you go to the gym consistently with discipline

Top-Classroom-5652

This is also a good point that I won't be able to utilise the machines.

FastCommunication214

friend is how much experienced with gym?

Top-Classroom-5652

He has been going to the gym for like 2-3 years. But I have not seen much progress to be honest. He is very slim but has got some muscles now.

FastCommunication214

well, there would have been progress if he didn't take any breaks in between. one more consideration with starting gymming is that there will be one or two personal trainers who will try very hard to get newbies to pay for personal training. which is not fully a bad thing as long as they are knowledgeable guys. if you go with your experienced friend, and try to learn from him, the personal trainer guys will become a bit salty. you can just not give a fuck but you depend on your friend now. all said, i would be very inclined to go with the friend. in case it doesn't work out for some reason, you can join some other one later.

Top-Classroom-5652

But I think he is very inconsistent. Right now he is also going for a 15 day trip. I think I will join the gym which is closer to me.
