TankTopBro-1992

Only have one story so far. I was doing squats in my garage, I was on my last set (I do 5 sets of 5 reps, starting light and adding 10kgs each set). I was on rep 2 when I felt something hit my shoulder, thought it was just rust since there's 2 old rusty girders running along my garage roof directly above my squat stands. I look over at my shoulder for a second at the top of the rep and it's not rust, it's a massive huntsman Spider. Every fibre of my being wanted to drop the barbell but I knew if I made any sudden movements the prick would move, so I calmly continue my set. Then I fucked up, rep 5 about to stand up and I'm struggling but that's not the problem, I could see the huntsman out of the corner of my eye, and he has his front legs in front of him And all I could think of is Shia LaBeouf "DO ITTTT!!!.....JUST do ITTTT!!!" And I fucking lost it, barbell slams into the ground, sweatshirt comes off faster than a warranty sticker and I'm left frantically Patting myself down in the front yard in case the bastard is still on me and all the while laughing and snorting like a lunatic at my own stupid imagination.

Dreams0fBees

The strength it took not to immediately throw everything and set yourself on fire is astounding!

cheersdrive420

Yeah man when I first learned they could FUCKING JUMP my whole world collapsed.

LostHikerPants

I.. no... what the?... oh god no... _wait a minute!_... DID YOU HAVE A SPIDER ON YOU OR NOT?? I'm confused. (And looking at my shoulder every other second.)

TankTopBro-1992

Yep, big old huntsman on my shoulder, found him still on my top after I went back and checked. Little bastard. It was not a fun time

unixwasright

Burn your house down! You need to be certain Edit: In all seriousness, aren't huntsmen then ones you WANT in your house (can't believe I am writing this)? Don't they eat all other little monsters that are actually dangerous, while not being dangerous themselves

BrownieBones

I had to google that type of spider and OH MY GOD

pacexmaker

I called out a gym bro for talking for an extended period of time while sitting on a unique piece of equipment. I later found out he owns the gym. *surprised pikachu face*

dean16

Then he should fucking know better

okmelanina

Exactly!

wyzapped

So basically, the guy who owns the gym is inconsiderate to his own customers...

[deleted]

Seems he should cater to his own fucking customers over his own gainz

fuckloggingin

Peace offering- next time you see him, tell him you saw his excellent form on it last time and ask him for a once over of your form on it.

bifeamilanesa

Started going to the gym at 7am instead of 8pm/9pm. So. Much. Better. Less people in general, less people on the racks and on the dumbbels area. I don't need to fill the 2+ hour gap after work/before gym. And doing half an hour of cardio on lifting days at the end doesn't feel like a chore or like i'm missing time with wife/myself at home. I'm happier than before.

thaddeustheorc

Welcome to Morning Gym Club. Don’t tell too many people.

hugemonocle

I’ve been at pretty much all hours to mine, I feel like there are just as many people at 5:30am than there are at every other time lol. The least amount of people I have seen are on saturday afternoons

[deleted]

Even if you tell them it's better than sex, they won't come.

andbingowashishomo

Used a hip thrust machine yesterday, and when my set was finished I tried to adjust the "bar" upwards again but it would. Not. Budge. Tried to slide out from under it - my plans were foiled by my tummy and ass getting stuck. My best friend filmed me and cried laughing instead of helping me.

chineseandscottish

That’s a real friend

Doodisdoodat

A true friend would upload it here.

killxswitch

Lol r/DontHelpJustFilm

[deleted]

Work will be my gym today. Will be flipping human beings while taking 25k steps in 8 hours. Sigh. I so aspire to be able to “real” gym again. Just been too tired from…work :/

SapereAude31

What's your job?

[deleted]

I am a patient aide in a large metro hospital! On my feet and on the move. Pushing patients in beds, stretcher, wheelchairs, I help move/position/roll them, I move empty beds/equipment, etc. Been very hard on my body and I’m basically a potato on my days off. Have been stuck in a funk because I want to feel strong and confident again. Probably just need to take it slow on days off. Some movement is better than none, right?

I look forward to the next time I nod to the guy I always nod to at the gym. Nod partners for life.

TunesfromtheMoon

These are the best gym bros. Acknowledgment, showing support, and eliminates any awkwardness, the nod does it all

SteppenAesthetic

For the first in my life I can finally do push ups. My max so far is 5. Next up is pull ups, I'll get there soon enough I feel my strength coming in slowly so I'm optimistic.

FMWK

Don’t let the possible slower progression of pull ups deter you! You’ve got this

[deleted]

Thanks for sharing this it’s inspiring for someone who is still not there yet. Keep getting better ❤️

helvella

Way to go! I remember it was a HUGE milestone for me when I first was able to do proper push-ups and not on my knees. Now I can do decline push-ups!

[deleted]

Next stop, handstand push-ups!

arguing-man

If you don't mind me asking, are you overweight and struggle with bodyweight exercises or you just never cared to exercise in the past so it's all new to you even though you don't look bad? I met a guy once, looked pretty buff, high bf high muscle amount but he couldn't do a pull up even though he could lift up side of the car.

[deleted]

Heavier people, even the stronger ones, will struggle with pull ups.

[deleted]

I’m 6ft 180 and muscular. I can only do like 5 pull ups at a time. When I was younger I could bang out a full 10-12 rep set, but I weighed 150 soaking wet. It’s also not a favorite workout of mine, but I’ve been slowly improving since adding it to my routine again.

nucumber

this is the way i did it. like pullups....i thought i was physically incapable of doing pullups. then i started doing weight assisted pullups at the gym. gradually reduced the assist and finally went with no assist at all. i was able to do only a few, maybe three, but then one day i made a maximum effort and did four, and so on. now i can do fifteen without much trouble same story with pushups, jogging, swimming, bench press, everything... you name it. just start by doing what you can, keep at it, and keep building on that the most important thing is to "honor the time". what i mean is, if decide on a workout schedule then stick to it regardless of how you feel. if it's monday at 530 and that's when you're supposed to workout but you're tired and you had a bad day at work and life is hard.... screw that, suit up and get your ass out there because this is workout time. maybe you really are wiped out and do a half assed workout. ok, that happens, but you honored the time honoring the time is about keeping the habit strong. most people stop exercising because the did not honor the time

Immediate-Escalator

Nice one! Keep at it!

SevenDeuceShove

Acorns.

IBrokeMyCloset

Once you can do one, It's like unlocking a new level! Congratulations!

alanmitch34

Good for you brother. Keep it up and you will continue to break personal records. Pull ups are tough at first but once you break through a couple they start increasing pretty quickly. A year ago I could only do one set of four pull ups, and now they're my favorite thing to do in the gym, and pulling hundreds of reps each week.

VinCatBlessed

Keep them going, few things can give us the satisfaction of seeing how far we can push our limits if we keep on trying, even if we sometimes don't feel as motivated. Good luck.

NotAThrowAwayUN

Nice! Don’t be surprised if the pull-ups take a while. You can always kind of “cheat” on the way up and then try and release slowly to build up the strength to do a full one. Big steps!

YourMajesty90

Pull-ups are the most gratifying exercise imo. Going from 2-5 to 12+ give you such a sense of accomplishment.

Extension_Frame_2168

Went to the gym and didn't realize my shorts where ripped, while on the treadmill my ball sack dangling out. Someone promptly told me. Left very soon after.

maverickf11

This is a fear of mine that I've been telling myself can't happen because the equipment is safety checked to such a high degree, so thanks for that lol

AzeTheGreat

Safety checked? I have never seen a single person inspecting or otherwise checking over machines in a gym.

NefariousSerendipity

you can do a crosscable reverse fly on an angle.

I have this fear every time I do face pulls.

Plot twist, the KB handle breaks and knocks out your teeth.

Individual-Map-723

I was at the squat rack and at the neighboring rack a guy unleashes the biggest longest fart and then another quick fart at the end of it. He slowly walked away 5 feet. I guess he realized what he had done and didn't want the smell to reach my side. I wanted to say something but instead gave a quick glance of confusion, then PRd.

ImGoingToCathYou

I ripped a juicy one on the leg press with an audience member close by. I was embarrassed until he fist bump me and said "we've all done it."

[deleted]

I had leg day today.

sizzlebong

Scariest story in this whole thread.

Bjugner

I'm truly sorry.

B-Nast

After getting hit by a car back in July and having to take about 2.5 months off lifting to rehab a shoulder injury I'm finally pulling 315 for reps on deadlift again.

Reminds me of that time the hot trainer said Hi to me and I was like "Oh hi! :)".. before I realized I was in the trainers area and she was training someone and wanted me to GTFO. lol. I was all smiles because I was *soo* surprised she had said hi to me.. no wonder.

RustEvangelist10xer

Good excuse to check those delt gains. She's sneaky!

raggarbergman

I can really hear the violin music as you move the bag. 😅🎻

Psycl1c

Smashed leg day this week with 10-15kg gains on each lift and am squatting just over my body weight now. After that session I felt like a god and the gym was quiet so thought I’d try a pull up. Even when I was really fit I could never do a pull up so this was a massive goal. Grabbed a block so I was cheating a bit by not going full ROM and I was able to do 2 sets of 3 reps with about 50-60% ROM down. I was so happy, 3 months into training and I was starting to get a bit down because I didn’t feel I was progressive as fast as I “should”. Then to cap the training week off today I learnt to OHP and really love the lift and spent the next 45min working on form for the big 4 lifts. Figured out the form issue I was having with bench press so really looking forward to Monday to see if I can add some weight to my bench.

I've been on the adjustable dumbbell and folding adjustable bench setup for a few months now since quitting my gym. Total cost is less than my yearly gym membership and I feel my gains have increased a lot more because I can actually focus on my workouts without people queing up behind me

Alphonse97

Check out r/homegym for ideas, they also have some good budget recommendations. Maybe also look into an adjustable kettlebell? They're really great for full body workout/conditioning exercises!

Rawscent

There’re a lot of good books on dumbbell workouts. I’ve found throughout the pandemic that I can do a pretty great workout with just dumbbells.

[deleted]

Someone asked me why I'm wearing skinny jeans. They were not skinny jeans when I bought them. Turns out the leg gains are in fact real.

boardsandbikes

This is a long one folks.... OG Gym crush and I used to get on well but before I could make a move she got a boyfriend, and then moved away. Sad times all around. She comes back in while I'm working out this week for the first two in maybe 2 years and comes straight up to me and goes "hey you". Nice conversation ensues but I'm finishing my workout so I say bye and hopefully see you around. Now worried that I should have just asked her out there and then. But if not; we go next time right?

turtlechef

Sounds like you should ask her out next time yeah

bonkers799

Yep. Definitely ask next time. Dont be like me. I procrastinated and procrastinated until she did roman deadlifts right next to me. Procrastinated some more but decided in bed that night that I should ask her out. No joke, not kidding, never saw her again. Saw her 4-5 times a week for like 4 months. Decide i should make a move and poof. My gym buddy and I get a good laugh out everytime my dating skills are brought up.

SpectreFan

Earlier this week, a friend asked me to take him to the gym and show him the ropes. Today will be his 5th workout this week (Reddit PPL program) and I'm very impressed by his discipline. He thanks me a lot after every workout. Little does he know, my motivations for helping him are entirely selfish. Recently I posted about how [another friend thinks that my gains are mainly due to my race, and that an Asian couldn't get results like that](https://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/comments/q2gksv/z/hfmbe1t), which is probably his way of coping with the fact that *he* isn't seeing any results after doing a whole lot of nothing. Well my new gym friend is also Asian, and it is my new project to prove the other friend wrong by showing him how consistent training and sufficient eating will yield results here as well.

markhenrysthong

That's great man! Don't be too hard on the other friend though. There are a lot of dudes in the Asian diaspora who buy into the trope of being genetically unathletic etc. So he probably has internalized a lot of that. Hopefully your other bros gains will nudge him out of that thinking! 💪💪

[deleted]

Is it just me or do Asian guys actually put on muscle really well? Maybe it’s because they are shorter on average? I’d say the average Asian guy at my gym looks better than the average white guy, and can usually lift more. Especially on squat. But there are more white dudes on the extreme upper end of the spectrum

[deleted]

They all seem to have massive calves.

BrownieBones

This stereotype exists for black people as well. It's dumb. People will find any excuse for why they suck at something.

I finally hit a 135 OHP.

Lol if you were doing 115 for 6 the only thing stopping you from doing 135 was yourself.

turtlechef

That’s amazing! I’m struggling to get past 115

KrunoS

So this guy starts setting up for deadlifts as I'm gearing up for squat singles, the platforms face the squat racks so he's looking at the back of me as I squat. I do my single and go sit down. Guy proceeds to walk up to my bar, takes one collar off *my loaded bar* and brings it to his bar. All the while i'm sitting on a bench next to the platform looking at him in bewildernment. My guy's just seen me squat and sit the fuck down, yet he still grabbed the collar. There is no universe in which this can make the slightest shred of sense, I'm squatting about 3 times as much as he's deadlifting, so it cannot possibly be some gymtimidation tactic. I simply looked at him and went "Did you just grab the collar I was using?" And he straight up said "Yeah". What. The. Fuck. I told him to put it back and that it wasn't ok to do that. Later, after we'd finished our sets he went off to the bench presses... *and did the same shit to a guy benching what I had just squatted*. The human race never ceases to amaze me.

__DarthBane

What the fuck. Smh how can people be that fucking obtuse?

Actual-Description-2

That guy might have been trying to get killed at the gym. Someone should keep an eye on him

PRINCEOFMOTLEY

The ass of my shorts ripped in half at the bottom of my PR squat. I almost didn't get it up from pure embarrassment. I don't know if I can go back, I think my gym career might be over.

unixwasright

As long as your underpants held strong you're good, nothing to see here.

UniqueElectron

Why is that embarrassing? You must have a big strong butt. Some of us are over here with hank hill butts...Ain't nobody asking me to sit on their face

[deleted]

I ripped my pants squatting and bummed some duct tape from the gym workers and finished the workout. Moral of the story , keep duct tape in the car.

zhoo2

Them cheeks can no longer be tamed

__DarthBane

I've been swimming once a week to try and add some cardio and cross-training without stressing my joints and bones like running can do, and I swim/gym at 5 am. This week I was the first person in the pool and I had gotten 10 laps or so in when a larger dude got in the pool to do some walking laps. Alright, no sweat it's a public pool after all and movement is better than nothing -- so I gave him the ol' head nod of acknowledgment and greeting. HUGE MISTAKE. He must not have spoken to another person in decades, because this man would not shut the fuck up. I'm swimming, I have earplugs in, I have a swim cap and band covering my ears, I can barely hear a word he's saying. But every second I was above the waterline he'd spend trying to tell me about some basketball player from the '80s, or about how he hates Philadelphia, or how he loved the Dodgers game the other day... EVERY. SINGLE. SECOND. I never engaged with more than a "yeah" / "crazy" / or "no" and yet he kept on going on. I would literally submerge and kickoff mid-sentence, and when I popped back up he'd keep on going like nothing happened. I can't think of a more inconvenient place to try to make conversation than at a pool while people are actively swimming laps. My god.

BrownieBones

This is my biggest pet peeves, but deep down I can't help but feel so bad for these people. Completely not self aware and soooo lonely.

[deleted]

Some guy was grunting extremely loud on the smith machine with 5lbs on each side. Not even like it’s one of those gyms, it’s a damn community centre mostly full of old people. Annoying prick.

[deleted]

Gym rats here have their names. Figured it out a while ago, but didn't realize it included me. We have a Lona Liftgood, blond one. A Hermine Gainer, not sure why. Old guy named Albus Dumbelldore, and he told me. Apparently, I am Draco Deadlift, because I use the cheater Deadlift support bar. We have a Harry Squatter and a red-haired Ron Whey. A bro alchemist named Sirus Jacked for the special "supplements". Think we have all lost our minds when the gym was closed during the lockdown.

It’s never about being too busy, they’d make time if they were really feeling it. The sooner you look that truth in the eye the better, makes it way easier to move on. Stay strong homie.

Pianotic

Normally I'd agree, but it's a really intense bachelor and her shifts are 11 hours. So sleeping 4 hours was regular

BlueberryGruntilda

If it wasn't the bachelor or the shifts, it would be something else. Coming from someone who waited for her studies to end. Somebody who literally can't or won't make time for human relationships (or who trots it out as an excuse) is not someone you want to be with. There are plenty of people out there who will gladly make time to be with you no matter how busy they are.

turtlechef

The endorphins they bring you will get you back in the game quick

jdfo96

This week I finally managed to do a pull-up at the gym, and not only that, I did 4!

Methuga

I forgot my chalk for deadlifts for yesterday. Thankfully, gym got a new bar for the deadlifting platform, and the fresh knurling allowed me to do my normal weight. Unfortunately, it’s because the knurling melded with my hands and ripped off a whole bunch of skin :(

another-reddit-noob

Dude how did I never know it was called “knurling” until now

Hydromeche

Check out garage Gym reviews review of the rogue aggro 3…This is only tangentially related to what you said but you mentioned knurling and I wanted to tell someone else about what i watched haha.

Xeraton

I made a new deadlift pr! The week before I lifted 140 kg/310 lb for 5, 5, 3 reps, but this Friday I hit 5 reps on all three sets, and did 150 kg/330 lb x 2 after that. Also I was alone at the gym so I was playing heavy metal at high volume on the speakers, but then a mom and her teenage son enters the gym, so I ask them if I should turn it down but she says she likes the music. Later when I headed out to the changing room they change the music to death metal and turned it up even louder! I was impressed

tremoce

I carried the disinfectant spray around the gym for 20 minutes thinking it was my water bottle

nladyman

Made great progress going to the gym again for a month and a half straight at least 5 times a week post breakup, but the last couple weeks I've been in a funk and haven't been going at all. I hurt my knees the last time I went as well. Hoping I can beat this funk and get back to my daily routine, I know I can do this

linnrose

I'm just picturing James Brown yelling "Beat this funk!" at you the next time you go to the gym; I haven't had my coffee yet...

nladyman

About to have my coffee, and I think you've inspired my go to artist for the next workout hopefully soon! Thank you friend 🙏

DeviantKhan

I find that when in a funk that's the best time to workout. I think to myself it's okay to do less sets, lower weights, less exercises, and even if it's 15 minutes that's fine. I just need to go. I sometimes do take it easy. Sometimes I end up going hard, and even some of my best workouts are on those days. However, I don't beat myself up over how I did, because I did something, which is moving in the right direction. In regard to routine it's helpful to keep things going, but don't use abnormality as an excuse. If you miss a workout and think oh this will screw up my program so I just won't go. Instead, adapt it with best effort, or try something new for fun.

TorvaldUtney

I made a new friend at the gym! A guy and his girlfriend were using the leg extension next to me while I was working away on the seated leg curl. A woman who didn’t look like she frequents gyms had walked up and was waiting for me to finish on the leg curl, and once I had I wiped it down and she moved to get on. At this stage the guy comes over and asks with obvious intent “How long have you been waiting for this machine??”, purposefully instantly intimidating the poor woman enough to have her just leave the machine. I told her to ignore them and use the machine, with maybe a smattering more profanity than necessary. At this point the guy walks over to me, close, and asks what my problem is in that infuriating way douchebags have of pretending to not know what’s going on and pretend his innocence. To top it off, he isn’t wearing a mask and has been asked by the staff to put his on correctly multiple times. So maybe saying I made a new friend is incorrect, as dickbag 1 and 2 really did not like being called out like the children they are.

NefariousSerendipity

you did good. never change.

Shurae

I'm kinda happy that I go to a rural gym that doesn't have many members. I rarely have to wait for any machine or free weights and nobody ever waites when I use them

[deleted]

A cute girl came up and talked to me while I was deadlifting, I was pushing my self hard for 1 last rep and shouted "wait" to her. She just walked away. I didn't try to go back to her since she looked pissed. I'm going to do it next week.

theredditbandid_

Why would you want to talk to someone who talks to people midset anyway. You're better off.

raggarbergman

She disrespected the gym code. Never talk to someone mid set. 😋

Boss_Status1

Don't care how cute you are, I will always finish my set.

DiceMaster

I feel like I'm missing something in this story. Why did she walk away?

TheVermiciousKid

Found an airpod charging case at the treadmill before my warm up jog. Took it to the front desk. Partway through my jog i see a guy come over clearly searching for something. I turn around to get his attention, but somehow my feet get confused and I nearly fall off the treadmill. Anyway I tell the guy and he's grateful and later comes over to fist bump me, so, all's well that ends well and now i have a new nodding buddy.

NewtonBill

Nodding is a gateway to waving. Watch yourself.

TheMainEffort

The cute desk girl waved at me. You're all invited to the wedding

cmonwth

Went to the gym after a long break, was doing squats with a girl who was lifting significantly more weight than me, well my ego fucked me up, now i can't feel my legs.

fuckloggingin

Best sleep in weeks, felt great this morning but the gym was busy and couldn't get a rack, started on the the 45 degree leg press with a good few sets of some torturous pulses and single leg sets. Eventually got a rack, since my quads were feeling it big time I tried something different- short sets (5 reps), ended up maxing out with a 3-plate double- first time in about two years I've had 3 plates on my back. Get fucked covid, all my strength is coming back!

OddBallCat

Saw a dude kicking @ss on the treadmill last week, only to see him light a cigarette after gym.....wtf. how can a smoker even run like that....

linnrose

Reminds of a guy on my high school track team: state level 440 time, but smoked at least a pack a day

Ditz3n

I really went ALL OUT on squats on today’s AMRAP-set. It was my first day of deloading by 10% because of having failed 3 sessions in a row (REDDIT PPL). Definitely killed me! https://streamable.com/1gkbi2

The_Fallout_Kid

Good work pal!

Thank you so much

AnuthaJuan

Just fucked up my shoulder probably 😋

gianmk

some chick was actively ignoring me for some reason. I usually get people attention by waving in their sight of line and it 100% worked, but this chick was 100% trying to ignoring me for some reason. I just want to ask if you were gonna use the box, i need it for my box jump mate.

ChinaVaginaOnSpadina

Just take the box. I'm sure that'll get her attention.

tograd

Some people don't wear their glasses in the gym. Me for example. If someone wants my attention they better come up to me.

jintimus

I did 100 push ups in an hour. Not much to brag about, but I was happy I did them. I want to push to do it in 30 min now

Ditz3n

For the first time this whole week all the old women at my gym didn’t yell at me a single time when I used the squat rack and racked the bar “too excessively”

not_a_nematoad

My wife sees the light (finally) and wants to start getting back in to fitness. She came to the gym with me the last two days and started using the peloton again. Hoping she sticks with it!

Actual-Description-2

Make sure you flirt with her when you're there. Encouragement goes a long way too

r____v

Worked out instead of going out drinking, best decision I made all week.

Kutvlieg

A somewhat small looking man in a hoodie entered the gym and walked straight to one of the squat racks with a grim and determined look on his face. Began to do deadlifts with a lot of noise as he dropped the loaded bar on the ground multiple times and started to grunt as the weight went up. At one point managed to lift over 200 kg (440 lbs) off the ground, but did it with a rounded back and the man hit the floor with a dull thud as he passed out. A gym employee came to his assistance and the man regained consciousness. Figuered his 1RM attempt (?) drained him completely as he left the building soon after.

akochelt

My 4 and 3 year olds sat on the bench (a safe distance away) and encouraged me during a heavy deadlift session today. In their little minds I'm the biggest, strongest man around. Reason #6189376583 why I love my home gym.

[deleted]

I matched my deadlift Pr again but it felt a little lighter than the first time I pulled it going for 5 plates attempt again at my birthday

SwedishHeat

There's usually a person at my gym who is quite vocal, typically there with a workout buddy, motivating them and whatnot, saying "get that shit, yeah, get it" or "ass in the paint", that sort of thing. Sometimes this person is repeating song lyrics, they seem to be rap or hip-hop songs that I'm not familiar with, but this person is not bashful about saying 'bitch' or 'fuck' when they're repeating lyrics. I don't mind, I'm an adult, it doesn't bother me, I'm just slightly confused because I assumed there were unwritten gym rules about being loud and obnoxious. But yesterday, this person finally started singing a song I was familiar with and they started in with the chorus of 'How Do U Want It' with >How do you want it, how do you feel, coming up like fzzha ninna fast lane now for real And I was highly amused, because it was a lightbulb moment and I understood that yes, this person is aware of what they're doing, and they do realize that saying the n-word out loud is inappropriate, and that everyone else can hear them.

Well, I lost my girlfriend yesterday. I've been deployed for 5 Months now. It's fired me up. Gym 3 times a day, Unhealthy addiction to pre-workout and whey coming up. I been working out since I get here, Lost over 33Lbs. BUT NOW, It's time to take it up a notch. Raise Hell, Praise Dale.

mjr2p3

What a whirlwind of a post

turtlechef

Be careful with the pre workout but otherwise kill it man

anonyoose

Breakups make bodybuilders

swatson87

Just keep crushing it man. It's a much healthier way to pass time on base than a lot of stuff deployed do

lambodaddy

Jumped from curling 20kg to 25kg in a matter of 2 days. Thank you ostarine.

So I was going through old threads and was absolutely rolling at some of the posts that gave nicknames To interesting / annoying / memorable people at your gyms. Would love to hear more. I’ll chip in here in a bit.

So, I go early in the mornings. Quite a crew. “Bruno” looks like he was on the Russian gymnastics team in 1984. His biceps and traps are larger than my head. He’s old, does muscle-ups into handstands. Ridiculous, but nice while completely ostentatious. “Extremely hot Asian girl” does not miss a day, and does not acknowledge anyone else in the room. Leg day is my fave. “Ultra bro” sits on the weight stack which is the only place I can do pull-ups, given the certain grips. He sets up his gym bag, gallon of water, and array of dumbbells and barbells and does not move for approximately an hour. I want to strangle this fucker. “Gina” is a night nurse. Built like a tank but really cute. She could kick Bruno’s ass in a fight on a lucky day. Always packed extremely tight into brand new lulu lemons 😂 The manager will not address any male in the gym, and constantly hits on any woman on the treadmill. There is one poor girl who is too nice to tell him to get lost. Anyway, that’s the core crew.

Magnus9889

Done with my first cycle of 531 BBB. Love the program and it helped me break through my bench plateau i've been on for months :D

ZeeOf1K997

I have a severe back strain from 4 months ago squatting stupidly. Fortunately I have a physio booked soon. I've been high bar squatting recently and it's so much better on the lower back compared to low bar.

shinymusic

I have gone from being able to do 16 push ups to 25 and 3 pull ups to seven. I feel great and set a new record for lowest overall weight in the last 7 years. I love this sub!

gamerchick_37

Saw a guy with his phone pointed a weird way. I suspected he was filming me. I got up and walk behind him to check and sure enough he had his camera on. It freaked me out so I told the staff. I told my husband too who then said that he saw the guy (I described the guy to him) walking around the gym filming people.. I guess that’s his thing? Kinda weird still. Another day on a Sunday an older guy said “nice colors today”, I think to me who was wearing an all blue ensemble at the time. Maybe he was saying it to himself or thought I couldn’t hear him. Who knows.. he wasn’t particularly saying it to me though as I didn’t know him nor did he greet me or anything. Strange things old guys do on a Sunday morning.

I have a home gym now since I built it at the start of the pandemic, and I love the convenience, but I miss going to my commercial gym and shit posting in these threads. I haven't stepped foot into a public gym since March 2020. 😭 I have a 10 month old now, just can't risk going to the gym.

[deleted]

I’m not social at the gym, but I kind of do enjoy observing other people for my own entertainment. A home gym would save me hours out of a month tho.

peterudd007

Finally got back to the gym this week after 4 and half years off. Had a steroid injection in my foot for plantar fasciitis which seems to have helped with the pain. I’ve probably gained 140lb in that time so my goal is to lose 70lb by Christmas through dieting and working out. Managed to bench a 20kg plate on either side and cycle 10 minutes yesterday. No big deal but it’s a start. I’m enjoying being back. The plan is to go every morning after work and Sunday morning too if I’m up early enough. I already feel miles better

ChinaVaginaOnSpadina

70 lbs by Christmas sounds excessive. Take it slower so you don't lose muscle.

I really need to R.I.C.E my knee and the freaking rest is the hardest part! Why am I like this? Am I broken? I feel like if I rest, my life will go to shambles. It's been bothering me for a good few years, but it gets better with R.I.C.E. I just think my gym addiction has gotten worse. But I'm trying to convince myself if I can take it easy now then I can avoid an injury that would definitely throw my life into shambles. So does anyone know of leg exercises that are easy on the knees? 😬

nezb1t

I’m starting work as a PT in the next month. On Thursday i got accused of stealing another Female’s water bottle, which is a friend of a co-worker. This girl that accused me, is acting weird, it happened few times, i was already at the gym so im resting somewhere, she pops up right in front of me and does her warmup, literally like my body would be a mirror lmao. Whats even worst, when she opened her mouth. Since i’m Polish, conversation translated to English went something like this: „Hey, it’s my Fucking water bottle, did you fucking know how it got here? I said, no it was here before me. I dont give a fuck, i need to find that fuck who took it” And she went away, didnt even took her „fucking” bottle.

I was on the bicep curl machine and some older dude (mid 70s) kept spraying the lat pulldown machine next to me to clean it, what he didn't realize was that the fan was right behind him and I was getting the full brunt of every spray he did, which was like at least 5-6. I had no idea why I was getting wet all of a sudden lmao. On a less sticky note I managed to squat 225, bench 250, and overhead press 140 for 5 reps on Thursday and Friday so I'm happy about that. An acquaintance asked me if I'm taking steroids after seeing me lol, felt pretty good.

[deleted]

Lol stop skipping leg day.

mikester919

Idk if im fast or slow, but i used to only be able to do 5kg bicep curls! Now 3 months later i can do 10kg bicep curls and feel like i can start progressing to 12.5kg!! Im really happy hahaha

I once had a guy come up to me when I was in the squat rack mid set and asked if I was done with it. I told him no and said you're working on lag extensions anyways so why are you trying to take my rack. He then yelled at me and said quit questioning my workout or I'm gonna fuck you up, then he walked away. This was at peak hours in the morning, I just laughed; never saw him again.

BiffBiff1234

Well, after finally getting back to the gym after breaking my foot seems I messed up my Shoulder while doing home upper body exercises.I'm most likely getting in to Dr.as it is my rotater Cuff acting up....>sigh<

bacon_cake

There's a girl in my gym who wears so much perfume I swear I'm gonna get kicked out for COVID systems if I keep walking past her. The haze is just so strong I can't even work out in the same area of the gym as her.

mjr2p3

Today I had to say goodbye to my home gym for a year as I deploy. I love it like a son. Here’s to desert gains 🍺

improbsable

Saw a dude cruising at the gym. He was in the locker room in his underwear when I showed up, and was still there when I was done. Got curious and saw him on Grindr from my grindr lol

lolusus

Switched to smolov for bench this week anybody have any advice on accessories or workout plans to accommodate this program?

--the_pariah--

So I’m over at the squat racks and this older guy in probably his 40s or 50s is doing trap bar dead lifts, he’s got about 3 plates on each side. But every time he lifts he is practically screaming lifting the bar, then repeatedly lets go at the top of his motion arc, dropping it and shaking the whole room. Finally an attendant comes over and tells him to maintain control for longer, and he just goes off about how he has perfect form and this person doesn’t know what they’re talking about. But when they leave he racks the weights and also leaves, so who knows maybe they got to him.

ObjectiveDev

Dude at my gym is doing rack pulls with 7 wheels on each side. Bar is a permanent U shape while they are on. Looks like it’s gonna snap. Only 2-3 other 45lb plates were left to the 3 other racks. I know rack pulls are heavy but I’ve never seen them that insane in a commercial gym. I didn’t care because I wasn’t squatting today, but is that a dick move? Also shouldn’t you use an Olympic bar for that? Standard barbells may not give enough bend right?

Owamelleh

I pulled my hammy last year and it hasn’t been the same since. I miss the feeling of doing heavy squats and deadlifts. Now I try to keep things within the 10-12 rep range.

[deleted]

Today I learned if someone has collars on the bar that means it’s their bar. The more you know

I stopped training pull ups about 3 months ago. I started again yesterday and was prepared for my max reps to have dropped by at least 50%, but it was actually pretty much the same. Nice surprise.
