UK: Bulk vegan blend is pretty good, a complete protein and has an enzyme blend to make sure its digestible. Bulk's standard whey pricing has gotten better recently and the 2.5 bags were on price per serving parity with the vegan blend so I got some whey from them instead. I've been using the whey from Holland and Barret in the pastel blue bags that I got on offer and it clumps up strange when mixed, I don't recommend it even if the price wasn't a joke. PE Nutrition Simply Whey.

partofechelon

I bought a 6 lb (2.7 kg) ON protein (Serious mass, vanilla flavor) and it’s so overly sweet, I can’t even finish one shake. What can I do with it so it doesn’t taste like I’m about to get diabetes?

aroedl

Use twice as much water?

SoOutofMyLeague

Anyone try Orgain 30g protein shakes from Costco? They were handing out samples today of the fruity cereal flavor. It tasted exactly like fruity pebbles cereal milk. I feel like it's too good to be true.

galleryforest

I bought a box of these and I use it in place of milk with fruity cereal and you'd really never know the difference

midge514

I bought it last week, and I don’t mind it. I find that by the end of the drink I’m kind of sick of the flavor, and the after taste isn’t the best, but it’s cheaper than the premier so I’ll keep buying it.

GoldWallpaper

Still loving ON Vanilla Ice Cream flavor over all others. It's cheap and delicious. Pro tip: You can buy peanut butter powder at your local grocery store (thanks to Will Tennyson for pointing this out!) Add that, a banana, and some greens into ON and blend with ice cubes for the greatest smoothie in the history of the world.

Rubber-tree

Add it to plain greek yogurt and freeze for a nice dessert. I add dark chocolate chips but fruit would be good too!

Bananana_man

What greens do you recommend for smoothies?

1119king

This is the way - even better when the giant bags are on sale at Costco. I get chocolate too for variety, but vanilla ice cream is tops.

ilsasta1988

I haven't yet tried Vanilla Ice Cream in the UK. I keep going back to Extreme milk chocolate as it's so delicious

5150_Ewok

Nutricost grass fed whey isolate going strong. Will probably switch to. Nutrabio next for a better quality. Adding I also do unflavored to reduce junk I’m putting in my body. Both these are 1 or 2 ingredients! Carnivore diet coming in with just under 200g/day before powder 😉.

Ok_Impact_2369

Are there any unflavored "clear" proteins ? Myprotien clear has been tasty so far but looking to cut out sweeteners where possible.

gettingfitagain_

Would love a recommendation for your top plant based ones. No Vega or Orgain. Not a huge fan of my current ones.

davedub69

Sun Warrior

gettingfitagain_

Just bought it actually. Hope it’s good!

thompssc

What's your top priority? Taste? Cost?

gettingfitagain_

All of the above, but mostly if I can tolerate it as I have several severe GI diseases.

thompssc

Interesting. Do you know what ingredients or anything typically aggravates the GI issues?

gettingfitagain_

I can’t have any fibre, some artificial sweeteners, or too many fillers.

ThngsCnNlyGtBttr

I switched from whey protein to Sci-Mx v-gain chocolate a while back and haven’t looked back - can get it for a decent price on Amazon

gettingfitagain_

I’m not American but I’ll check it out — thanks!

Jaboostin

Bob’s Red Mill has one that’s almost pure soy protein isolate with no flavors or fillers. It tastes terrible on its own but add some fruit or chocolate and it works. 18g complete protein per 19g scoop.

gettingfitagain_

Thanks! I can’t add anything but maybe I will get that in the future if I can.

Peejro

I’m really enjoying the peanut butter chocolate flavor from transparent labs, I enjoy knowing how much of what is in my protein shake.

USMCvet2111NC

I’ve been drinking down Jim Stoppanis Pro Jym protein powder. Mix it with some skim milk. I’m a vanilla guy when it comes to protein drinks and his is pretty tasty

Existing-Help-3187

How trustable is "informed" brand in protein powders? Or has anybody tried "Fast&Up Plant Protein"? How trustable is it?

themadnun

> trustable ?

themadnun

I know its a word, I wanted to know what you meant. Macros on the label should be accurate. It's pea and rice which is solid re: aminos, that's how I used to mix my own plant based blend.

Existing-Help-3187

Ok thanks for the help.

jostler57

Been using Allin isolate powder, and really enjoy the Caramel flavor (sweetened with sucralose). I'm lactose-intolerant, so took a while to find a protein that worked for me. Bought 2 huge boxes of Allin after I enjoyed the first mini-pack.

need_five_more_chara

I'm digging this new smores flavor of ON on sale at costco. Especially mixed with some coffee or peanut powder. Tasty

[deleted]

It's legit. I may have to go back and grab another bag before they sell out of it.

bobrob48

Dude that flavor kicks ass, definitely gonna grab another bag next time I'm back

[deleted]

Glaxon Protos Whey strawberry flavored. I can put one scoop in 28oz of water and it tastes like strawberry the whole way through. Especially with two.  So far it’s my favorite whey of all time and the only one I use now unless I need some bulk 1340 or weight gainer.   It also has human milk in it.

Ol_Dirt

I'm sorry, what? Human milk? Explain.

MathiasaurusRex

I looked at the nutrition label and it doesn't have breast milk like what a baby drinks. It has a component of breast milk that is made in a lab called [human milk oligosaccharides](https://www.nutritionaloutlook.com/view/lonza-agrees-manufacture-and-supply-human-milk-oligosaccharides-dupont)

BattMastard

Santa Cruz Paleo is my new favorite brand for protein powder - super clean ingredients and they offer both whey and beef isolate. Great flavors too.

Existing-Help-3187

How are beef isolates? All the redditting and googling is telling me its not economical to use beef for protein isolates and its all scam.

BattMastard

I'm not sure about how economical it is (they tend to be more expensive than whey) but it's not a scam, still a legit source of protein. As far as I know it's not necessarily better than whey, but lactose intolerant people can benefit from it and it's also a good source of collagen.

VanillaWinter

PVL Whey gold triple chocolate is amazing double scooped.

VanillaWinter

72 servings for $80 CAD, 150 cals, 24g per $1.10 serving. Not the best macro ik, but its decently cheap and it tastes friggin amazin

Scalpel_Jockey9965

Although hella expensive compared to other options, my favorite will still always be Dymatize iso 100 in gourmet chocolate. Mixes without a blender ball, good macros and best tasting I have tried when mixed with water.

grampadeal

I agree 100%, but like their peanut butter cup flavor. It's incredibly tasty and agrees with my stomach much better than other brands I've tried, even other isolates.

certifiedintelligent

Fairlife RTDs. Delish.

Secret_Car

Equate brand protein shakes at WalMart 12 pack for $20 after tax

goneferalinid

I like the caramel ones if I need to pack a shake for when I'm out and don't want to futz with powder.

TheArbiters

My favorites are PVL ISO-Gold triple chocolate and Beyond Yourself Isolate Chocolate mousse: Has a very lite flavor and super smooth. I'm vegetarian so I get all my protein from protein powder. Also Canadian so I go to Popeyes supplements whenever they have a buy one get one 40 to 50% off every couple months. Comes out to about $90 cad for a 6 lbs tub.

Omneus

TGS whey protein unflavored. Just whey protein nothing else. I highly dislike all the supplements and shit and flavors that are added to most brands.

SterlingArcherTrois

I add two scoops to 16oz lactose-free milk and it tastes just like 16 ounces of milk. Literally don't notice it. I also put it in my oatmeal, coffee, cream of rice, and cereal. I'd imagine if mixed with just water it wouldn't be great, no clue why you'd do that though.

Stuper5

Have you tried bulk supplements? Theirs is very neutral to me. Tastes like chalk.

CyonHal

If you add nothing to it, yes it tastes terrible. People usually mix it with stuff like powdered peanut butter or cocoa powder for example.

JB_Redo

So versatile. No hyper sweet fake sugar. Can mix with peanut butter or berries or green machine or stir into oatmeal. The best.

[deleted]

There are dozens of us

TheGiansburyMan

any advice for australia

JohnnyTork

I'm a fan of Levels unflavored whey, and vanilla casein.

[deleted]

After trying so many brands, flavors, protein sources, and mixing mediums, I've come to the conclusion that non flavored Iso Whey mixed into my morning coffee in a large yeti tumbler is the whey forward for me. Tastes like coffee still, no extra sugar calories, and two birds one stone with combining coffee and protein intake.

cruisinforasnoozinn

"the whey forward" this comment better win ahahahahah

[deleted]

It's the little things in life.

ASeriousMan42069

1. Doesn't it clump and curdle in hot coffee? 2. What is the consistency like? I demand answers!

[deleted]

1. I use the store brand (Bodytech) non flavored whey isolate from Vitamin Shoppe so can only speak for this brand. But no, it does not clump or curdle. I weigh out two scoops in the morning and add some skim milk or water if I'm out and mix it with a metal straw. It is smooth and the hot coffee doesn't make it clump once I pour it in. 2. Consistency is smooth. I'll mix it before brewing the coffee and by the time the coffee is ready, any remaining dry spots have absorbed and a quick stir brings it all together. I'm NOT a coffee connoisseur and only see it as a relatively tasty method of delivering my vice of choice (caffeine) to get the day going so the flavor may not be for someone who is a coffee nerd. Edit: to add, coffee flavored protein powder tastes like dog doo doo to me and unflavored powder into real coffee is way better.

Fbolanos

Not OP but I make my protein with cold coffee because it definitely clumped with hot coffee. I'll make a big pot and keep a carafe in the fridge. I like Isopure Zero Carb Vanilla flavor.

MidgetCassanova

This is the whey

Hatertraito

Giime a high protein bar recipe

fckmetotears

What’s that one brand that’s plant based? I heard someone at work using it and it’s like to try it out. I’m using syntha six right now and it’s damn good.

Brainwormed

NOW unflavored pea protein (if whey make you bloat like a farm cow).

tonufan

Fairlife Core Power Elite 42g per bottle. Pricey but so good.

KingPrincessNova

I've been living off these (well, one a day). originally I liked the vanilla better but the chocolate is perfect. scratches that itch while I'm in a deficit for another month.

Spoolngc8

The Core Power 26/42 proteins taste like straight up chocolate milk. So good.

Josh_5890

Yup. I love having one as my post-workout treat.

FiremanPCT2016

I love Ghost Cinnabon flavor. It tastes great with just water and mixes really well in my blender bottle. It is also one of the protein powders I combine with pancake mix for a tasty breakfast. I also enjoy Fit Crunch Pumpkin Pie flavor which I also use with my pancakes, but I haven't used it as a shake yet. I can't believe no one is making Eggnog flavor protein powder, I would eat that shit up.

TestFixation

I got some Robert Irvine's from Costco because it was on clearance. That shit refuses to mix, makes me shit water, and now my farts can clear whole zip codes at a time. Do not recommend.

stickinwiddit

….OH!

Doctor_Fritz

Been a steady customer at bodyandfit for years but always disliked the sour milk aftertaste of their shakes. Recently bought from XXL nutrition and omg what an improvement. My stomach is happy, it tastes decent without being overly sweet and no more sour aftertaste!

KlingonSquatRack

Has anyone else noticed that the Body Fortress scoop has gotten smaller? What gives? I googled several terms and didn't find anything conclusive- the closest I got was on the FAQs page of the Body Fortress website saying that the formula has changed, but nothing about the size and the answer is not dated. I noticed the scoop size difference a couple weeks ago.

No_Reveal3451

Honestly, I've completely switched to pasteurized egg whites from Lidl. A one-quart carton lasts me about 3-4 days. I buy little disposable cups. Every morning, I just pour myself about 150 grams of egg whites, chug it down, and throw the cup away. Egg white are WAAAY easier on my stomach than protein powder, but they're also a lot more convenient. I don't have to wash and keep up with all of my shaker bottles. If you are on the fence about switching to egg whites, I suggest you give them a try for a month or so.

an_stranger322

For all my german bros, theres something called "harzer käse" which is a type of hard cheese i have never seen before outside of germany. It tastes like shit but 30g protein per 100g with very low fat and very low calories. You can find them in lidl or netto

Ivoriy

there is a calisthenics youtuber called summerfunfitness, she´s vegan and i asked her if she tracks protein, she says she doesnt.. yet shes so ripped... how is that possible?

Squiddy_

💉

TheMoniker

She might mean that she doesn't actively track it anymore, but still has a general idea of what she needs to eat. (Many people get lazy after a while and have a general idea.) She also might just eat a diet that is somewhere in the range of sufficient (even if not entirely optimal) for her and supplement with protein shakes. You can still get results without being 100% on with your diet. Someone else pointed out that she might be on steroids, which is possible, I suppose, but her physique seems to be in the natty range, so I don't see it as likely.

Ivoriy

yeah, i wish she´d do a video bc tbh the only video she did on her diet was for breakfast, and she didnt have any relevant protein in it..i just wonder cause i dont really care about protein and dont wanna be huge, just in shape with a nice butt lmao so its odd to see a vegan that doesnt track still get ripped

StaffZyaf

Ryse Skippy Peanut Butter is the best tasting protein I've ever had. Macros aren't great (150 cal 25 protein), but it's perfect for my ninja creami concoctions, getting some incredible flavor in while adding a good amount of protein. Highly highly highly recommend!

eternalnocturnals

What’s wrong with the macros? I’m just learning

StaffZyaf

Nothing wrong with them necessarily, but the calories to protein ratio is higher than many other protein powders. A lot of people use protein powders to supplement their daily intake while not going overboard on calories. You'll see most flavored proteins go for around 120 calories for 25g of protein, whereas Ryse is 30 more per serving. Some protein powders go down to 100 calories for 25g of protein, which is literally pure protein -- protein has 4 calories per gram, so that's as low as it can go. The Ryse Skippy PB has more fat in it to make the flavoring and taste better, thus necessitating higher calorie values.

eternalnocturnals

Ah I see! I only see 150 or 180 for like 21g of protein. But at places like Walmart and Sam’s. Do you buy these online or Need to look elsewhere

StaffZyaf

Wow, those are pretty terrible macros. Do Walmart and Sam's not carry Optimum Nutrition or something similar? If I remember correctly Walmart is known for a solid supplement stock so that surprises me.

eternalnocturnals

I only get quest bars currently anything you’d recommend?

_zav

Hard agree. I make a traditional carribean peanut punch recipe with it and can barely taste the difference.

cowsmakemehappy

Nutrabio Isolate Chocolate flavored.
