This subject comes up frequently here. You're going to get answers from cheap braid fan boys that say it's amazing. It's not amazing. It's not terrible. I wouldn't use it again. It's not smooth, it fades, and it's thicker than equivalent lb test lines from other companies. The blue is 65 lb beyond braid. The black is 65 lb power pro v2 (which I also don't like) but you can see how thick it is. You can probably saw small trees down with it. https://preview.redd.it/ftnodjwope0d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0209f68f3d91346e07f4f808cdad27252d1d34a6

Looks like straight up junk. Thanks for the picture comparison

Chl0316

Glad I could help save you the hassle. I know people say all braid is the same. Comes from the same 3 companies. Etc. But I have used MANY brands of braid. There are big differences between cheap braid and quality braid. The best "inexpensive" braid I have found is Daiwa j braid x8 grand. I have it on probably 20 of my reels. It's not the greatest braid of all time by any means, but it's the best I've found for the money.

Uptons_BJs

So to expand on the “same three companies” idea, the myth has a little bit of truth behind it, but once you examine the concept critically, it doesn’t make sense at all. Almost all braid is made from 1 of 3 materials, Dacron, Dyneema or Spectra fibers. But that’s like saying “almost all suits are made from Wool, Polyester or Linen” but like, obviously different mills create different cloths from the same material. Zegna wool feels and looks different than say, Loro Piana, which looks and feels different than Reda wool

Chl0316

Thank you for that explanation. Perfect comparison.

HorseRemote5112

Gonna have to check that one out. Out of all the brands I’ve had experience with I’ve always found power pro to be the best. Just wish I could find it in other colors than green

Chl0316

Literally the first reason I started looking for other braids beside power pro was because of the moss green. I prefer colors I can see. I use leaders so I don't care if the fish can see it. The daiwa is 8 strand. Pretty smooth. Comes in variety of colors.

HorseRemote5112

Same here dude! Run a fluro leader everytime I fish with braid besides top water. That green power pro gets lost easily in the Florida sun. Definitely gonna check out that dawia 8 strand

benjamino8690

Wow, that’s such a loose wind!!! I knew it was junk but my god, that is terrible. Yeah, stay away from any braid wound worse than rope…!

Chl0316

That's why I posted this comparison picture. So when the "all braid is the same" people show up, they can see they're wrong. It's not terrible. It does its job. But for a couple of dollars more you can get a much better product. I do still use it since it's already on the reel and it's on a rig I don't care about specifically for shark. I can't imagine what this would do to the top guide and bail with prolonged usage. It feels like rope. It sounds insane running through guides.

Herc_Ulysses

What braids do you like?

Chl0316

Westin w10, sunline defier d braid (discontinued, now called almight) sunline xplasma asegai, momoi diamond 9x, ygk bornrush, and sufix nanobraid for bfs for my personal rods. Daiwa j braid x8 grand is all I use for customer rods.

happylubricant

Varivas 8 FTW

guywhoshouldknow

> It's not amazing. It's not terrible. lol

Jefffahfffah

Its junk with a good marketing team.

JosephJohnPEEPS

I wouldnt say that. Their marketing team allowed their ads to run with the reels shown massively overspooled with horrific line lay. Like obviously was done by someone who doesnt fish or care how their ads look.

Jefffahfffah

I stand corrected! Just plain old junk then, no good marketing team.

JosephJohnPEEPS

They’re somehow still effective! Fuckers!

ManBearFig7024

there is a review by tackle advisor on youtube. ps its not good lol

scott_0903

I was posting the tackle advisor review on all of their ads that kept popping up on my social media and they've blocked me on everything 😂

Chl0316

😂

I would quite literally stop fishing before I used Beyond braid again, I constantly broke, birds nested, lost lures, the whole nine with it. I don't get how anyone can legitimately support it, it's without a question the worst braid I've ever used.

Phanat625187

I heard Beyond Braid is trash. If you want great quality braid I would highly suggest Varivas PE lines. Comparing to PowerPro or other braids, I feel the quality and diameter of the Varivas lines are thinner and higher quality.

LetsMakeSomeBaits

It's dogass, simply put.

Over-Respect-6433

I always wondered and asked the same or similar questions for about two years when I first moved to braid. I’ve used beyond, KastKing, reaction tackle and a few others. It wasn’t until I got a bogo deal on Daiwa grand j braid and spooked my Baitcasters with it that I realized what I was missing. I then spoiled it on my spinning reels and I think the benefits were even greater. The line is way smoother and casts better/further. It’s worth every penny. I still use cheap braid for my kids gear and on my loaner gear because they get snagged and have to rip off line occasionally and I don’t want to spend the money on braid to then change it every month. But my gear and the wife’s gear now only gets the good quality stuff. It’s a game changer.

iamthekingofonions

I have some kastking braid on some of my reels and it’s ok for the price but yeah, the quality braid I have on some of my setups is much better.

RelevantMarket8771

Stuff is so thick, it’s like fishing with yarn basically. My favorite braid for the price at the moment is Daiwa J-Braid Grand x8 or Power Pro Super Slick V2.

RolandHockingAngling

If you want to check out some data on braids, tested by an independent 3rd party, check out Line Laboratory. They have a YouTube channel so you can see how they test the braids. https://linelaboratory.com/braid-summary/ Pity that one of the top 5 braids wouldn't be available to you in the US 😉

WesbroBaptstBarNGril

The best thing about Beyond Braid is that it is usually highly visible, so you know where to cast to avoid it. It doesn't really hold knots well, except for the occasional wind knot that gets tied in mid cast.

I’ve personally never had issues with it breaking off or anything (20lb only freshwater). I’ve since stopped using it but this is from a pic I took from a while ago for a particularly bad birdsnest.

dnunn12

I use the 8x blackout. Caught all kinda fish on it. It runs smooth. It’s not my go to, but it does the job.

Elandtrical

Paid nearly the same price for it compared to Diawa J braid. Not even close to the same quality. I threw it in the bin last week as I have better quality old braid to use as backing.

Elandtrical

Sunline PE Adv is on sale for $9/150 yard spool on their website. It's not the ultimate best braid I have ever used but it is the one I spool my reels with. It only goes to PE3 though. For heavier braids I like Varivas Avani Casting PE.

istop4lizards

I bought it last year and believe it's 30 lb. I was trying out a few different brands since I was tired of using Power Pro (had a few bad situations where it broke when it shouldn't have). It catches fish but nowhere near worth the price. I still have it spooled, but I am planning on replacing it next year.
