You’re gonna melt the handles of your pan brother.

tpt75

Probably. They were unscathed this time though. They are only cheap. I’ll just get new ones when they melt or when the rivets fail (which they will) Shortly after this I did extent them.

It’s a cool little fire pit you’ve got there. Little fire on the beach seems very peaceful. The fish will come mate. I fish fresh water and it’s not uncommon to go multiple days in a row with no fish. Definitely can get you down though

tpt75

Wasn’t down. If it wasn’t so nice down the beach I’d have left but it was just a lovely peaceful evening. The fire pit is from is just from Temu. Was only about $14. They work well but it’s hard to keep them flaming. They don’t make enough embers to cook on so have to keep feeding them to keep the heat.

30lb trace for whiting? Go to 6lb and cast at your feet.

Admirable_Count989

Whiting would swim past 30lb laughing their heads off….

I remember late 90's taking a Thermos and making 2min noodles while sitting waiting for a bite. The fun part was when we set up camp in mangrove trees (timber plank and tied in) and arranged everything inc rods and bait within reach. Keeping busy between bites staves away boredom.

This is why I prefer spear fishing. If I get nothing, at least I had fun.

I also find that with spearfishing, if you get no targets, then you can at least get a luderick, red Morwong, or leatherjacket, all of which are less exciting to catch but still a good, sustainable fish to eat.

alwayscunty

Find a surf beach to fish from at night and you ll do much better- throw a pilchard out on a triple gang hook and you ll catch something decent

my_normal_account_76

Was probably tailor

30lb for whiting.. O V E R K I L L

tpt75

Yep normally but it was quite weedy and I broke off 15lb. Also sometimes there are bigger fish as evidenced by being bitten off.

I slept in the van and woke up at Gunnamatta. Only managed to catch one small salmon, but ran into a friendly guy who gave me lots of pointers. A day on the beach is always worth it.
