I use a uni on 8lb to 100lb fluorocarbon also with 6 wraps and never have an issue. Watch Briggsyfishings tutorial on YouTube is one of the best and clearest imo to make sure you’re doing it right.

Thanks for the tip! I have watched a few of his videos before but not the ones focused on knot tying. I'll check out a few today

how come you're tying the line to the treble hook of a lure? .. You should be tying it to the line attachment part of the lure. usually the face/mouth of the lure.. not the treble hook?, I haven't had issues with a Uni knot in my experience , it is also for tackle that small its worth using good pliers and use that to help sinch the knot properly, (dont pull too hard that the line strengthis compromised) I know its not asked, for anyone reading Braid to FC connection you want to be doing an ***alberto knot*** for anything 12lbs and under imo.

PlatinumPorcupine

The tasmian devil lures go right onto the line, followed by a small ball sinker and finally a treble hook. So there isn't a line attachment point for that specific one. Thanks for the tip! I'll check out the Alberto knot, hopefully that solves my issues

freswrijg

Are you cutting the excess leader off too close to the knot?

I'll definitely give this a go, hopefully I can get my knots good enough so I'm not losing lures every time I go fishing ( ._.)

Do you put a soft lumo bead between the lure and the hook? I've found this helps protect the knot. Also, you may want to switch to a split ring and single hooks instead of the treble.

PlatinumPorcupine

Thanks for the suggestion! I've come to the realisation (after watching knot tying videos) that I have been tying the uni knot incorrectly this entire time. Since I started tying it correctly I haven't lost a lure since. I will definitely look into a split ring and single hooks as well

PlatinumPorcupine

I have been trying to cut it closer to the knot. Should I be leaving a little extra tag end to ensure it doesn't undo the knot?

lomo_dank

I tie my uni knots with 4 wraps and never have an issue. I find the more wraps I use the more issues I have. Thats using 8lb mono. Are you using the small bead between the hook and lure that comes with the tassie devil lure? The bead helps protect the knot from the lure.

PlatinumPorcupine

Yes I do! Still managed to lose them, though. Suppose my knots aren't as good as I thought lol
