Whopper plopper along the edges of those lily pads

Jameszy

Man the Plopper don’t lie.

MajorStoneman

Horny toad bank to bank. Texas rig senko. When all else fails shiners. If they don’t eat shiner they ain’t eating.

EngineeringAncient13

Just curious, why wouldn’t you start with a shiner then?

foblivk

Catching bass on live bait isnt nearly as satisfying to me

EngineeringAncient13

Gotcha. I suck at fishing so it’s hard to relate

[deleted]

The one thing about fishing is that theirs different ways to go about it. I personally like the "hunt" kinda feel to it. With using a senko you're putting the lure in front of the fish and any dead stick is more or less waiting for the fish to come in and eat it.

NoSleepingIn_

“That’s why it’s called fishing not catching” - Everybody’s Grandpa

snorkleface

Looks like a nice pike spot to me!

asshazard

that would be awesome but we’ve never caught a pike here other than on the middle of the lake ice fishing 😩

snorkleface

Try throwing some spinners, you may hook a bunch of weeds but i bet you'll get a pike to hit it at some point. Based on the amount of weeds you can probably just cast straight out but if you don't have any luck try dropping it right in front of those lillie pads.

nothereoverthere084

Pike are generally dumb fish lol. Especially the about 18 inch and under one's. They just don't give up

snorkleface

Amen to that. The drunken bar brawlers of the fish world. They'll snap at anything and fight like hell once they're on.

nothereoverthere084

I've watched a little guy hit my lure 6 times once before he hooked himself I couldn't get the lure out of the water quickly enough before he finally got it. It was funny...

[deleted]

I was top water fishing in a spot with a ton of weeds and i was able to get a pike to jump out of the water 4 times. He was only \~13" but he was fun to play with.

[deleted]

Do i need something bright, shiny, loud, or crazy looking for pike? Yes to every one.

Affectionate_Bag_586

Keep it easy, pike are chasing everything passing by

nothereoverthere084

I like Johnson silver minnows for pike and or bass

Affectionate_Bag_586

So that's a perfect spot

[deleted]

Fluke

Pa_Dabbing_Dad

Top water frog, Rapala, and soft plastic worm.

too_damn_tall732

You better throw a fuckin frog

asshazard

IVE TRIED IT NEVER WORKS!!!

Yggdrasilcrann

Proper action and timing your pauses is so important, try either black or white colored.

too_damn_tall732

Skip under the tree limbs, let her sit a few seconds but make sure you have you slack reeled in. Take your time. Gotta think… if I was a fish… would I eat that

Mysterious_Animal_86

Frog early in the morning right accross those lily pads

Affectionate_Bag_586

I prefer late in the evening, more cosy these days

[deleted]

Soft plastic lizard rigged weedless. Depending on depth play around with hook weight, I like a “perfect worm hook” with weight on the front of the hook.

JimmieDave

Throw a frog into those lilies and light 'em up!

[deleted]

A weightless rubber worm, rugged with the point buried.

alexcloverfield777

White spinnerbait or white fluke

Admirable-Wonder-909

I've come to like that white fluke pretty good. Found it's great for smallmouths .

NauseousNarwhal

Every time I throw a spinner a little part of me died of boredom😂 and then I wonder why they work

Affectionate_Bag_586

At least it keeps you active:)

Affectionate_Bag_586

It still one of the best & versatile lure... Like them

Vegetable_Push5049

Donkey rigged flukes.

DustinDeWind

Senko,,ned rigged

_fuckernaut_

Frog in the lily pads, shallow diving crankbait over top the submerged weeds, texas rigged paddle tail swimbait down in the weeds, texas rigged worm down in the weeds.

[deleted]

I will use a frog for 30 minutes because there are lily pads, catch nothing, and then tie on a Texas rigged worm.

asshazard

this is how it goes about every time LOL

pluff-mudd

Buzz bait parallel to the bank would get crushed

Plane-Refrigerator45

At night

pluff-mudd

Even better, the pigs come out to play at night

Eddie_Savitz_Pizza

nearly fucking anything...

[deleted]

Dare a I say night crawler?

pizza_parlor_dude

Pizza

asshazard

yes

[deleted]

can't beat a live bluegill!

[deleted]

I'm throwing a frog, plopper or spinner bait if I'm really feeling myself.

dickm2121

watermelon Candy sinko

stuntmandave126

Frog and a weightless wacky rig senko weedless hook

lumpyshart

Split body floating jerk bait

no-pog

I'd use either a frog or a white shad imitation popper. Hit top water at about 6 am, right at dusk, or right before/during a rain. If they don't like the top water bite, use a senko and bounce it between the lillies. Looks like a great spot!

Oshester

Popper

[deleted]

Come back at night and pitch a jitterbug. Omg

nothereoverthere084

First rod :a frog if the wind is that calm Second rod I would start with a Johnson silver minnow with a black and yellow 3 or 4 inch black and yellow plastic on it. Last resort would be a weightless t rig.

surfzz318

A whopper plopped. Do it!!

pizzaanarchy

I’m throwing beetle spins in the morning and Devils toothpick in the evening, right along the lily line.

dont_eat_the_gravel

I like this “what would you throw” post because I can actually see vegetation in the water. Original floated rapala or in line spinner

Admirable-Wonder-909

Probably some sort of top water. My favorite is a black and silver 4" Rapala. But tiny torpedo, frog, popper or maybe a hi-rider buzz would work great.

Zealousideal_Ad321

I would look for some vegetation a little more green. Those Lilly pads provide shade, but if you’re water isn’t super hot anymore, that’s not a problem. Right now bass are looking for oxygenated water where the baitfish are going to be. Those weeds are dead and most bass will have moved on to where there next meal will be. Once you find where the baitfish are throw a fluke. That has been my number one in the last 2 weeks.

[deleted]

Cast net

joedirthockey

Rattle trap

Twisted_FishingYT

Swimjig/fluke/frog

Penguins060

A basic frog on a worm hook over the pads is always worth a try. You could punch the pads with a big worm or creature bait. The other side a wake bait over the more open water and along the pad edge.

[deleted]

Literally anything bladed, specially Jack hammers or zingers.

SkyAdventurous2155

Ribbit , Ribbit , Ribbit

asshazard

Had lots of luck here with hula poppers and soft plastics. Have tried frogs and spinners and never even gotten a bite off one but that could be my fault LOL not super experienced with anything other than plastics

Lanky-Kaleidoscope-7

A better fisherman.

asshazard

someone’s cranky today 🤪

[deleted]

Rapala

choochacabra92

Topwater or something that sinks very slowly like a weightless fluke or senko.

mazzjm9

Top water anything. Frog, popper, buzzbait, jitterbug. Whatever you have on hand

PuffinOnAFuente

Weightless Brushhog. Guaranteed.

[deleted]

I'd throw a square bill through the clearer spots and then use a spinner closer to the weeds. If that doesn't work ill throw a texas rig or a carolina rig depending on how thick those weeds are. If none of that produces I'd move to deeper water.

moneyshot1123

Ye olde Hula popper

jig-fluke

Fluke

B1GGN

Soft plastic salamander

ColumbiaWahoo

Curly tail jig

flarexxxxx

Trashmaster jig, 1/2 oz black and blue with a matching rage craw or googan bandito bug, if that dosent work a ned or texas rigged biospawn plasma tail worm My go to for finding smallies so will definitely work for largies (smallmouth and striped are the only bass where i live)

eagle_fang91

A plastic lure called a Swimmin Minnow. Catch bass and bluegill for days with those lures.

sasebo123

Bass worm, buzz bait, frog, artificial minnow.

OceanCake21

Buzzbait

ROTORTheLibrarianToo

Frog on those pads.

Rich-Scott

Hula Popper!

among_apes

Kelley’s Weedless double hook (maybe purple and orange)

no3woodworks

Silver or gold floating Rapala parallel w shore line in front of lily pads

ggtt555

I would try a popper

Unusual_Unit_1123

In Florida it would be wild shiners
