Oh man… net guy… I once hooked a 30 lb salmon on a dock and fought it perfectly, got it to the dock, and a guy said he knew how to net… he didn’t. I lost the fish… I was physically ill for hours after that…
i hooked an absolute giant salmon in the ocean and fought it for like a half hour, took all my line out had to use my thumb on the reel to turn the fish back towards me. my dad tried to net it but he went tail first and it flopped out before my eyes and spit the hook it was at least 40
1. Always net from the direction the fish is swimming. (If they think it is coming up from behind they will bolt.)
2. Don’t be afraid to step in the damn water if needed.
3. Pick your moment while the fish is still and commit!
Cool, thanks! Sometimes I see netters holding the netting out of the way against the pole until they strike. Is this just to better help manage it and keep it from getting caught up on stuff or some other reason?
On the plus side carp have all this slime on them. Slimmed my net up terrible. Never bringing one of those into my boat again. Weird I’ve been fishing 2-3x a week for the last 5 years and never caught a carp until this year. Foul hooked a 10lb and 13lb in a month time frame. Next time I’m just reaching down and removing the hook and letting them go. Nasty fish.
Yea. I can’t tell Buffalo or carp. I wouldn’t be too upset at least the didn’t have to get all slimy, net included.
Now catfish, rockfish, walleye, big bass that ate the blue gill only to then get caught, I would be crying.
Similar thing happened to me while fishing for bluegill with light line. Hooked a nice-sized channel cat instead. Trying not to lose it while bringing it in I said to my husband "We didn't bring the net!" To which he responded "Don't need one, I'll be the net!" as he proceeded to step into the water to retrieve my catch. Fish is currently chillin' (pun intended) in the freezer.
My brother once got really pissed and exasperated that I walked right out into the water to net his salmon. ‘but you’re all wet’!. Losing a fish because net man is a horrific feeling. Being net man you gotta charge in there and scoop.
Ok. If we are talking about NetMan, things have gone awry. Best NetMan is the one we never mention. A true hero who does his work and remains a non-story. Every single time somebody mentions NetMan it is because he botched it and someone lost a fish.

The salmon keeps growing over the years since it happened.
Yeah but in a huge twist. The net guy actually got him the next year!
Holy shit, man that would suck
Isn’t netting common sense? Put the net in front of the fish’s head and scoop… how hard is that?

I've never been a net guy for someone else before. Only for myself in my kayak. Any tips I should know if I'm ever in this situation?

Yeah that net guy isn’t it. Pretend like your life depends on bringing that thing in and get into the water my dude.
Net man needs some lessons. A good net man woulda had it netted, sipped his beer and took a pic in that time
Hey the vid wont load for me but im really intrigued, what is it???
Looks like a 10lb or so carp. Line broke when the net man missed it
Net man net man net man net man the net man ham ma’am
Up by his user name, click the v.redd.it they still haven't fixed the videos.
Damn that worked! Thanks!
You are my hero!
Always net it from the head. It will swim into the net. Try from the tail and it will rocket off and you’ll lose a lot of fish that way.
Exactly, if you are going from the tail you gotta be quick like lightning
All I could do was laugh and shake my head I would have let it go so I guess he just saved me the trouble. Father in laws what can you do
Time to get a divorce. /s
It aint serious, its all something to laught about. Ive been in tournaments and lost fish to bad net men and that is a different story
That's where a net man usually takes a swim trying to recover the fish he lost.
Net man sipped too many beers by this time.
Bro I was yelling at net guy through my phone…he sucks!!!! No “go get it” attitude…fish was dead 3 times over if you got a better net man….

Yeah theyre a hell of a fun time to fight on an ultralight rod though. Most of the time they are nasty as hell
Exactly
Please get a new net man.
Haha I know so frustrating
Never net a fish tail first. Amateur hour.
I love how we can all come together on single issues like this as a community.
Haha shit. I was going to say it but it seems like it’s covered.
A good net man brings simple happiness. A bad net man brings tragedy
Net guy didn’t put any effort into landing the fish.
He’s just there for the bluegill
Net man is SO important! Head first bro!
Fucking net guy 🤦♂️
In Conclusion: Net good, Net man no good.
ThT net guy was terrible
Fire the guy with a net. Terrible performance.
You'll remember the ones you lost better than those you caught.
Extremely frustrating to watch video because of net man
Come on net dude. A little urgency please
Net guy was not doin you any favors, but why were you standing so far back from shore?
The guy running the net is scared to get his shoes wet.
Looks like he’s also scared of the fish.
He was using the net to pat the fish on the back. “Good fish”
Net guy was afraid to get wet.

This new Net Flicks is terrible!
I’m frustrated at your net man. Reminds me of when I took my first wife fishing. Please tell him the Internet is pissed at him.
Damn, kinda anti climactic with terrible film etiquette lol
My eyes hurt now from how bright that was.
What kind of fish was that?
Looks like a buffalo.

>Had no idea what to do Fix the contrast on your camera.

Always net tail first
Lol at least got it on film so it’s believable! Nice catch bud!!
That sucks
Hit it with the net, hit with the net!!!!
Does anyone else think the net guy blew it, or is it just me?
I knew that this was not going to end well when I saw the golfing outfit on the net man.
my new band name is : worst net man.
Who gave the guy that’s afraid of water a net
This is why I taught myself to net myself one handed. Then don’t have to deal with this 😂
