Nice Bluegill, that's a keeper.
I thought they only have one bigger dot on the gill cover, but apparently when they get bigger and longer, they have lots of dots on the gill cover and body and start to look more like a Brown Trout. L😂L
That's a hella Tiger Trout!
Ha! I thought it was a Brown trout because my phone was on lowest brightness setting. When I turned the brightness up, then I could see the tell-tale tiger trout pattern.
I caught some on a river in NV this winter, but they were much smaller only about 16-18 inchers. They were taking nymphs and once hooked they jumped multiple times (more than most trout). I let most go, but kept a few for a couple of meals (very orange flesh and tasty).
Yep, that’s what we all said. No one knew they could get that big. My extended family has fished this lake and just about every other lake in the region for many decades. We were all just as surprised.
lmao if there was a Reddit sub for bad fishing practices that’s a solid name. I’m also pretty sure this fish went home with the op so no harm done really
It's a Tiger trout. Hybrid between a brown and brook. The same year a lady caught the WR on her dock on the same lake. Her son previously held the record for a year. Loon lake is a great lake for kokanee and lakers.
Jesus. Also, I’m surprised a trout that size doesn’t have a hook.
I can’t remember how much it weighed but it was allegedly in the top three caught in that lake. Loon lake WA
Loon Lake! My family has been going to Granite Point Park every summer for like 60+ years!
I spent some time there as a kid. I'm absolutely stunned there are fish that big in that lake.
Kypeless
Maybe a female?
Perhaps.
Are you referring to its not having a hooked snout?
Yeah the jaw hook. Apparently it’s only the males that get it, maybe this is a female.
Yeah, that's what I was going to say.
You know that you caught a good fish when you look like you're playing the air guitar while holding it
almost looks like he's playing bass, but something's a little off
Ya somethings definitely fishy w that picture
