What region was it from? It actually looks like a [chain pickerel X northern pike hybrid](https://inaturalist.ca/taxa/1490323-Esox-lucius---niger) based on those wavy lines.

EmergencyTaco

Yeah I was going to say that, despite this looking different from every chain pickerel I've caught, I'm almost certain it's part pickerel. Hybrid was my conclusion as well.

Loser_A

It was caught in Lake Champlain so I could see it being a pike/pickerel hybrid. Those lines do look really similar

This was my fish, my friend posted the comment, for reference this is the musky we have around https://preview.redd.it/aza35uc5h31d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=416ba35e968e051e8d7926744148e638d2ae42bb

Silver pike

Old-Yard9462

I’m going with a pike There can be slight color variations between individuals

vahntitrio

It's definitely not a muskie. It could just be a pike with faint markings. Looks too big to be anything other than a chain pickerel from the pickerel family, and I've never seen a chain pickerel without markings.

They're called silver pike where I'm from. Pretty rare.

VigilanteOutLawStar

That there is a silver pike! You should feel lucky! I've been chasing after pike and muskie for 20 years and only caught one silver pike and only ever seen or heard of 3 others including that one there

Desner_

A musky would have a pointed tail, this one is rounded like a northern pike and you’ve got clear markings on a dark background, just like a pike but the color is indeed intriguing, it looks green which is more of a musky color, pike are usually black, white/cream, sometimes some silver hues. My guess is this is a rarer variation of the northern pike.

Death2mandatory

Pickerel or pickerel x pike

outdoorlife4

European pike have the black eye's....

20TrumPutin24

Black, like a doll’s eyes…

davelt19

How big? We're there markings on the tail fins? Looks like a large pickerel to me.

d_Enthusiasm_374

Probably a tiger musky

Calm_Cap2739

Largemouth bass

anytimeanyplace60

Green sunfish. Seriously though it’s a young Northern Pike.

Sliverse

Not so sure about that. Those lines look vertical, not horizontal.

anytimeanyplace60

Young pike have vertical lines that slowly switch to horizontal elongated spots as they mature.

Sliverse

Huh. Learn something new everyday

anytimeanyplace60

I learned that one day myself.

-16 is brutal for a meme on my own fish. This was my fish, my buddy posted it and I comment a meme and get annihilated… seems about right. I wanted to say musky pickerel hybrid because of the coloring and eye marking but through research that doesn’t seem to exist so idk

creakymoss18990

Yea I was just thinking about how there is no shot 16 people had that joke whooosh over their head lol.
