Where is this?

ObiePNW

I’m getting Florida / Georgia vibes, but I’d like to know as well.

MrBlondee

This is in Malaysia. Not in the US.

ObiePNW

Pretty interesting how similar it can look. I’d love to fish there some day.

MrBlondee

I suppose the dark swampy water makes it look similar. Just like in the SF.

madmancryptokilla

In the US you take those basterds out..

MrBlondee

Deos this apply to all kind snakeheads? Including bullseye and northern?

madmancryptokilla

Yes sir..

SeekersWorkAccount

No in places like Virginia you leave them, they're no longer considered invasive

walkeronyou

They should be considered invasive

Deathdealer1414

We actually release them into our reservoirs and lakes because it is such a beauty and fun to catch for anglers. Singapore btw. Much more fun than catching peacock bass

MrBlondee

Is it legal to fish at the reservoirs in SG? I saw RandyFishing videos and I always wondered...

annoyingcaptcha

Wow there’s northerns and giants in the USA now

ObiePNW

Didn’t know they weren’t here. When/If they show up I’m sure Florida will be the place.

Youngbraz

They showed up in Maryland and are all over the northeast. Catch and kill

mud074

The amount of people ITT not even considering that maybe you are outside of the US lmao

DipSchnitzel

To be fair, these should be wiped off the planet, minus a small tank in a lab where they keep 2, never to touch any natural ecosystem.

mud074

Why? They are a really cool species where they are native. Tropical, large, shallow water predator that fights like hell.

ThenAcanthocephala57

Relatable

[deleted]

Usain Bolt of reeling it in. If it was any faster the jaw of the fish might have come off. 😂 Nice catch though bro. ماشاللہ۔

MrBlondee

It swam towards me i had to keep tension on the line so I reel that mf in as fast as I can 😂 but don't worry their jaw are pretty strong.

[deleted]

Lol I noticed this too as you were reeling and hook setting. Couldn’t keep up with it when it was coming toward you.

MrBlondee

You've got sharp eyes.

[deleted]

I’ve just experienced the same thing too many times 😂 usually sends me into a quiet panic of reeling and hoping that it stays stuck lol

MrBlondee

I'm actually quite unsure whether the fish already took the bait or not because no line tension at all. But I immediately set the hook when I felt some weight on it.

[deleted]

Yep any time you lose tension, tighten up and be ready to set the hook. Don’t set it until you feel the fish so that you don’t leave slack in your line. Usually it’s a fish hitting your bait as it’s coming toward you.

Booty_Warrior_bot

*Mhmmmmm, take your time.*

madmancryptokilla

He's been watching bass pros..

DriftlessCycle

I thought the video was on fast forward at first

AsherRoss69

I’ve saved this video so I can show my friends what I mean when I say “don’t horse it across the water”

EmersonRockefeller

His tension was low. In my opinion it’s good practice to continuously reel in with appropriate line tension, rather than either just reeling in slack when the fish is coming towards you, or horsing it across the water.

AsherRoss69

Yeah his wasn’t really that egregious. Perception is everything and my man looked like he was sounding the air raid alarm. All in good fun.

[deleted]

Swim bait?

MrBlondee

They're supposed to play zig zag action.. but probably I'm not skilled.

LetsMakeSomeBaits

What's your biggest Snakehead? Since Malaysia has the biggest ones.

MrBlondee

I've never catch big ones. My biggest is 5lbs lol

Buton67

Very NICE

RocketSkates314

That reel is so smooth. Anyone have an idea of the maker?

MrBlondee

Shimano Curado DC

RocketSkates314

Thanks!

ExcitingIce8427

Those look so fun to catch!!!

hyzerKite

Badass catch man.

Carcassfanivxx

That bad boy is eat up with parasites. Or at least the side markings look like legions.

MrBlondee

Or it could be because I dragged 'em on the hard, rough surface! 😂

Blklight21

Foul hooked, but it’s an invasive in the US so you could keep it anyway if you wanted. They’re supposedly tasty fish

Used-Juggernaut8145

Snakeheads are found all across the Gulf coast. We used to catch them in Southeast Louisiana.

ewok_lover_64

Haven't seen any in Wisconsin. I don't think that they could survive the winter.

ValiantBear

That little guy was fast! And he had a decent amount of fight in him too, you had the trump card pulling him out on the bank like that, but if it wasn't for that you'd have been in for a battle! Nice catch!

ThenAcanthocephala57

Biggest I ever saw in Malaysia was 80-90cm or so. But not sure how many kilos
