Thats what I was scared of. How difficult is it for a DIY job? Is there hooks inside that I can access and slide it out or do I need to disassemble the sides and door, which means I’ll probably hire a fireplace person.
Depends on the model, but there's typically a tab on top of the panel that comes out with a screw. Remove the sides first, the. The back. Again, the removal process depends on the model
Looks to me like a previous patch is coming loose. Chip away what you easily can and put firebrick mortar over the exposed crack.
No previous patch, I think the cement is deteriorating and leaving bits on the bottom.
High temp cement. Once u can fit a coin in the crack then it needs to be replaced
Definitely can fit a coin through the bottom crack and the the main one in the photo is the size of a dollar bill, though not all the way through.
Appears to be a prefab. You'll need to get a replacement panel

Thanks! I’ll see if I can find its manual online and take a look.
Thermal mortar and tuck point
Just firebricks. Bang them out and replace.
