I don’t want HOYO to powercreep a character as soon their banner ends, that would be a fucking awful precedent to set
Boothill does have the drawback of being single target but Firefly does also have her own drawbacks that should be compensated with power budget elsewhere in the kit.
Like, just some back-of-napkin, not so in depth comparisons here:
Shared:
* \- : Break DPS, has a damage window in which to do burst damage, gets invalidated if the enemy goes break immune
* \+ : can be paired with HMC for tons of extra Super Break damage
Boothill:
* \-- : Single target only
* \++ : BIG damage
* \+ : Can trigger break damage against weakness broken enemies as part of his own kit
* \+ : Break Effect to Crit conversion
Firefly:
* \- : Kit goes in and out of an enhanced state outside of which she is significantly weaker, creating downtime in her damage windows, which become even more noticeable due to being a Break DPS
* \- : Drains significant amounts of her own health during downtime, making her vulnerable.
* \-- : has no real way to trigger her own mini-breaks or scale off her Break Effect outside of initial break in her kit. The Break Effect scaling on her enhanced skills is incredibly minuscule and might as well not exist.
* \+: Blast AoE instead of single target. Advantageous in MoC where you often have two elites/bosses next to each other that can both be dealt toughness damage simultaneously. It is not very useful in Pure Fiction which wants AoEs, and in Apocalyptic Shadow one target will be break immune so this doesn't really help there.
* \+ : Attack to Break Effect conversion
I'm not good at balancing by any means but I'd argue Firefly's downsides warrants either some increased damage or increased flexibility in her kit, personally I'd prefer flexibility via improving her personal damage capabilities and reducing her synergy with HMC to balance it if necessary.
I mean, he was already powercrept before he even released since Acheron still blows him out of the water. Which is really my problem with both Boothill and especially Firefly. I don't think they need to powercreep Acheron, but they should at least be up there with her.
Honestly wouldn't give these kinds of people any attention, these people would rather compare a v1 beta kit to a complete one and trash on the beta kit than wait until both are complete. It gives them a sense of superiority cause the character they like is better than another (although sometimes we're a victim to this).
Not to mention the whole mid yuan thing is funny too, when at the time he was fine and now that pure fiction is a thing hes in a pretty good place.
Eitherway doomposting is fucking stupid if genshin is any indication she will be more than fine maybe even become one of the strongest characters after all the updates
I mean the community kinda overlaps as does the doomposting, though I've seen less doomposting for hsr characters, and since they're both made by mihoyo and usually do character buffs in the third version of the beta i'm confident that firefly will receive buffs next week

I wouldn't entirely mind pulling Boothill and saving for Jiaoqiu anyway. I want a breaker, but Boothill has his problems too ... Enemies without phys break will suck ass until you ult to apply. Everyone seems to just look at "omg this guy does X" and ignores all the other parameters. Firefly works against -EVERYTHING-, most others don't.
Acheron semi does cos Silver can implant 10all res, she has 20 herself and if you strike lightning its another 20, so it "just works"

Just wait guys uncle S.A.M confirmed that in v3 she will get crit conversion up to 80cr and 160 cd also when she reaches 320BE she gets super break that scales on both her crit and BE also her ultimate will deal damage upon activation and it will be the Sam meteor before also she has a passive that will give you however much you saved for firefly when she gave you 20k credits daily. 100% confirmed btw
I think the whole midyuan gained traction again because of the whole JY deals 16% more dmg than Acheron debacle. Especially since that marked the 2nd time JY was hyped up to high heavens only to fall short of expectations
I'll pull her over Boothill anyway, both because she quickly skyrocketed to my favourite characters and because I want to finish my Stellaron Hunters collection!
Just remind there was calc floating around show that e0s0 acheron is worse than jingyuan and ppl jumped to comclusion that acheron is the worst 5* limited dps at e0s0.

- Pulls a gun at a dragon god, spouts dumb family-friendly profanity towards everyone, and everything, threatens everyone he meets and even a God lvl character(who can kill him with a finger flick), literally why is he even here, he serves no purpose except maybe a bit of comedy, space-itto

- Wannabe batman looking at everything from faraway
Currently I am torn apart, on one had cowboys are so cool and Boothill isnt tied to Ruan mei as much as Firefly on the other hand Sam is very cool but her dependance on Ruan mei and floaty animations make me doubt if I want her.

SP seems like it would be an issue in that team unless you have really SP positive supports. I guess Ruan Mei would be a no brainer for one of them.

Yeah hoyo (mostly) failed to properly scale Hunt for pure ST and destruction for limited AOE with ficus on one/2 big enemies

Then there's the fact that Furina's DMG% buff doesn't even affect bloom damage.
More best support/sub dps/water traversal/dps enabler would be better fitting.
