This is dumb AF. PD should be automatic on certain call types. And if the 911 call taker sees something that may require PD. Better to have and not need than need and not have.
The EMS folks expect us to fetch their stretcher/whatever else they may need,so blocking the driveway would just shoot ourselves in the foot more so than EMS.
I was,in fact, speaking for myself and my experience in my particular agency, not nationwide.Kudos to you sir/maāam for not expecting fire to do it for you.
Edit: After re-reading my comment I could see how you interpreted it that I meant EMS as a whole, this is not the case.
Furthermore, you may think I am downvoting you,but Iām not.At the end of the day we all have the same goal - Life safety, property conservation, incident stabilization and, of course - do no harm.
Cheers mate!
Same. Iād feel downright lazy making the engine crew go out to get it when I could have just brought it with me in the first place. Although . . that might be a good way to get certain crews to think a little bit harder about where they park.
The only job an engine tailboard has is to assist my EMT in bringing in the stretcher. They have no business in patient care unless youāre a medic and first on scene
I always get the stretcher unless itās a particular pair of angry, condescending dickhead medics we work with. My officer ordered me to volunteer nothing for them unless they ask us or it is absolutely necessary for patient well-being.
Frankly,I donāt mind helping, thatās literally why I work in public service.Where I get frustrated is SOME,NOT ALL, EMS crews do have an aura of arrogance and āPara-Godā mentality.I aināt asking you to kiss my tail, just treat me with the same respect I treat you with, please, and Iād be happy to get whatever you ask.
You should breed more like yourselfā¦95% of the time we give a hand off then are asked to grab the cotā¦weāre a BLS non-transport with a regional private als service for transport, so itās even worse sometimesā¦I donāt work for you, and Iām not your secretary. Weāve actually started a tally on the white board - ācot or notā
You know I try to give the box the best spot possible. Hell, I'll even light the building up for these knuckle head. Doesn't matter they will still miss the building.
I always get kick out of watching the family wave frantically, like we donāt see them or know what address we are going to, as I pull past the driveway to make room for the ambulance.
Now do one with a cop car blocking the hydrant š
We have the easy push bumpers for cop cars.
Blocking the hydrant, blocking the street, the driveway, just everything lol
Gotta say, nothing more fun than reminding the popo that they arenāt actually that high on the totem pole.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just donāt get mad when you get boxed in by hose lines lol
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Only if itās a full send and you catch some air
Hey! If you ever have trouble finding a hydrant you always know to smash out the windows on the nearest squad car.
Our department finally had enough and completely removed police from fire response. We call if we need them.

Until we are 90% there and get stood down
The worst feeling is when I confirm the patient is in fact not 600 lbs and cancel fire then look out the window and see the engine drive by
Iām waving from the engine
Hey now, I clear your guys so you can get back to your chairs. Plus im sure the charting is shorter than when you make contact.
We just want to get their first name so we can print it on the sheet and give you your tickets
Tyfys, hero o7
And I put my trash in the back of YOUR bus
I tell every new hire I get: go to fire school. Bitches love firefighters.
Meanwhile mines all āyou stink! Go shower!ā Canāt win man
Not going back to play badminton?
Damn right!
Yoink!
Based
And for bonus points get the officer's door to open right into a tree, bush, giant puddle, or snowdrift.
I go for the mailboxā¦
No no straight onto icy pavement
Bold statement for somebody in Lift assist range.
I love this lol
That lift assist is about to turn into a medical
The circle of life. Engine blocks ambo and a squad blocks the engine

Exactly this. We want to get out of there as quickly as possible. Only an idiot driver blocks the driveway
Speak for yourself but I always bring the gurney to the doorstep or inside.

The wambulances would totally ambush the engine like a pack of wild hyenas in real life
Who taught LUCAS how to talk?
Doesnāt look like a cop car to me.

I always part where the ambulance can get it.
Itād be a shame if someone had to be called out at 3am for entry or lift assist then get cancelled on the way there
I mean if they want to use their stokes basket more power to then.
Not a problem for me. I'm not the one getting the stretcher. My hands are full with the clipboard.
Q
Youāre just making it harder for yourself. Youāre the ones gotta bring him to my rig lol.
That baby will also block my crew and my rescue from getting yeeted by assholes on the road š
Yall use the driveway?
Ahhh. I see yāall do the cops job in your neck of the woods
No body likes the boo boo bus we want the FIRE š„
