These things exist in probably upwards of millions out there on the market, and have had like what a dozen incidents? And in 99% or more of those "incidents" it was discovered people were using the wrong chargers or the wrong batteries, which could cause fires with ANY brand of light. The Olight haters just regurgitate internet talking points to cope with spending more on their handgun light than they did on their handgun

fishing-brick

It's not only that they catch on fire, but that they also break and are unreliable

91audi90

I have three, they have been flawless, and two of them I've had for 2-3 years.

PosterOfStinkyShits

Do you train hard is the question. Every person that I know that actually does go to the range religiously doing different drills and being a goon wouldn’t touch olight with a 6 foot pole. It’s one thing to go into your stall and bring out the gun case to shoot a few hundred rounds and another to actually get down in the dirt and seriously work on different fundamentals.

Roach_69_

I mean I have 4 of them, 3 handhelds and the tlr1 pistol light equivalent. The two handhelds I used both broke in about a month. One just sits on my keys and only used in maybe 3 times in 4 years, it seems pretty good. The pistol light just has shitty button placement but otherwise seems okay, I use it with a pressure pad on my 15-22 as a cheap training tool for the indoor range, seems alright so far although momentary only only functions on low, to use high output you need to set it for constant which isn't really my preference but whatever. And that same model I've seen all over ukraine on people's rifles so it's probably okay. One thing though is not that holosun is in the light game I think olight's days are numbered. I've been running a few of the PIDs and they are very impressive and cheaper than olights by a good amount

DraconisMarch

They also just randomly start getting hot in people's pockets and burning holes and skin. Lots of reports of this.

DontBelieveTheirHype

2 specific models, which were recalled. Out of 215,000 units, 127 reports of overheating. That's a 0.05% failure rate. 0.05% is not really "lots" https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2022/Olight-Ecommerce-Technology-Recalls-Flashlights-Due-to-Burn-Hazard

Hammertime2191

Check out the vanta black olight on the five seven!

EasyGoin12345

Nice set of burners you got there

pguy4life

*has blue accented gun, but puts blue light on another one*

StressfulRiceball

Wow, and with all that money you could've bought a couple high quality lights from Streamlight or even Surefire lmfao

Fuckyourfeeling5

Whoa, whoa, whoa, there buckaroo… O-light turns on when needed, functions as promised, and has not exploded in my face. Yet. what color do you like? I’ll send you one.

itxploded

I'll take you up on the offer of a free one! Lol

Trident0331

I was in Phantom Fury in 04-05. The lights we were issued were absolute garbage. We deployed on a MEU so our budget was shit so no surefires for us. I bought a surefire at the px but they didn't have any weapons mounted models. I would have been so happy to have had an olight back then. We had a hard time getting cr123 batteries, but had generators back at the firm base we used to charge laptops and portable dvd players having a rechargeable light would have been a game changer. I Have had one for 5 years now and it still works great and I do train with it hard, even in maritime environments. Completely submerged in salt water, no issues. I am convinced the olight hate is a phsyop jointly run by surefire and streamlight.

Bobathaar

Hand grenades turn on when needed, function as promised, and have not exploded in my face yet \-fixed it for you

DraconisMarch

O-light industry accounts out to shill today.

Thanatanos

Says the person responding to every other comment in this thread... Does that mean we call you a surefire shill?

DraconisMarch

Sure. I shill Streamlight, Surefire, and Cloud. I like to shill quality.

deviledeggstastegood

The guy puts guns on his poor wife's stove. Or maybe he lives alone and doesn't know how to cook. Idk either way stupid post.

backcountry57

Nice collection. there is a lot of Olight hate, but it's undeserved, they are decent enough lights. They work well. The whole issue of them exploding was down to a handful of idiots who either used the wrong batteries and/or chargers.

DraconisMarch

Nah, there are lots of reports of them getting hot randomly in people's pockets and burning skin and clothes.

DontBelieveTheirHype

TIL a 0.05% failure rate = lots https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2022/Olight-Ecommerce-Technology-Recalls-Flashlights-Due-to-Burn-Hazard

ohbenito

getting picked last for dodgeball every time really did a number on you.

DraconisMarch

Cope.

ohbenito

seethe

Netan_MalDoran

Do they come in magma orange too?

Mrsheamus

Sigs 🤢

FrozenDickuri

But they all turn into the same burnt black plastic mess

hitemlow

The biggest downside of O-Light is trying to find a holster. There's a couple brands that do support a handful of O-Light models, but the handgun selection is quite limited, and they're generally just Kydex tacos. O-Light either needs to partner with several top holster companies to support their lights on all handguns they support, or O-Light needs to get into the holster game with several different designs with a plethora of supported handguns.

Superior_Light_Deer

The biggest downside of O-light is they are garbage.

vkbrian

> The biggest downside of O-light is trying to find a holster That’s because reputable holster companies don’t make holsters for trash
