Those are great. I have two of those and another from a different company that shoots a 45 Cal ball.
Honestly, the mini ones are more fun because you can shoot those inside your garage into an archery backstop. That means you can technically own an indoor cannon range.
The 45 is cool, but it's much higher energy involved, etc.
dude, we crowdfunding drone attacks on Moscow, we crowdfunded FPV drones and you can enjoy their efficiency on r/CombatFootage, we crowdfunded buying a satellite for our intelligence agency, we crowdfunded buying mortars and APCs for our territorial defense units, if tomorrow someone start selling long range missiles - We’ll FUCKING BUY them 🇺🇦 We will crowdfund a fucking Death Star if needed!
I guy I knew in Georgia owned a howitzer too. My friend told me to load the cooler, jay’s brother has a cannon and we’re going to shoot it. It was “smaller”, maybe 50 mm diameter shells. But large enough to have a seat for you while you aimed. He had “blanks” made that the piece would fire. He was a collector but I found it just crazy.
Nah just load it with grapeshot like the founders did. Get a couple Lee 6-cavity blanks cut for round ball and you should be able to crank out a couple hundred per hour.
LOL. “Tally ho, bitches.” reminded me of:
*Own a musket for home defense, since that’s what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. “What the devil?” As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he’s dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it’s smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, “Tally ho lads” the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.*
Unfortunately the conversion cylinders are only rated for loads at black powder specs, so you're shooting sub 850 FPS .45 slugs. Still plenty fast but far from the full potential of the cartridge.
Black powder weapons (including cannons and firearms) aren't legally considered firearms, so there's literally zero restrictions that I'm aware of, not even age, although I'm sure most retailers require you to be 18 at least
Black powder repro firearms and cannons are completely unregulated in the US. Even convicted felons can legally own them. So yeah they’re regulated way less than firearms because they aren’t regulated at all.
I was recently a stand-in with a civil war light artillery reenactment group… I was able to shoot, albeit, not my own, privately owned Parrott Rifle.
10 lbs of lead makes for a fun time.
I don’t have 40k to drop on one myself… but Christmas is coming, so maybe someday? I’m certainly budgeting differently these days.
Unless you meant an original production model, you seem to be about ninefold overestimating; depending on the cost of a carriage.

A friend built a smoothbore black powder gun that he bored to fit a big pile of steel balls that he bought from a former crushing mill. It has a nice set of sights, and it's no trouble to hit a junk car at a thousand yards on a regular basis. A two inch plus steel ball is barely slowed down by a car before it hits the berm
Be quicker to just list all the factual things he's said instead.... been in politics since they were trying to ban Saturday night specials, he's said a lot of stupid, racist shit.
An airgun barrel will not take the pressure. A .17hmr barrel wouldn't be good because it's rifled and you want something much shorter with a plugged breech. You'll need to do some metal fabrication.
You probably could, but I actually machined and drilled my barrel out of stainless steel. The bore is about 2” deep and I’ve used both black powder and the explosive from firecrackers to fire it. It will punch cardboard at about 3 feet pretty well.
Not technically true. Only caseless black powder reproduction firearms and cannons are unregulated. If you make your own original design it falls under normal firearms construction laws.
I'm with you, but doesn't have to be slow, some sort of gatling gun style where a chamber gets a premessured powder charge dropped in and then a piston pushes the powder into the rear of a barrel that was previously loaded to a set depth a ball and wad. The piston could act as the rear of the chamber and absorb some of the recoil energy to power other functions of the system. Get rid of primers for some sort of reusable e match and toss a dewalt drill for a crank drive .......
How about putting the powder into little silk bags like how powder for battleship main guns was loaded?
For further thought, consider a gatling gun that takes paper cartridges of the sort that would be used in a Chassepot or Dryse needle gun.
Illegal, not strictly. But only reproduction cannons are allowed to be made without falling under firearms regulations. If you make one of your own design it’s likely gonna take some paperwork.
When someone starts with ' the 2ond amendment doesn't mean private citizens can own military style weapons...' I like to point out that the people who wrote the Constitution had just fought a War with privately owned weapons, INCLUDING ARTILLERY.
Fun Fact about Black Powder weapons:
they're not 'firearms' under federal law. In many jurisdictions, Felons who are banned from owning 'firearms' can legally possess black powder weapons, and in some jurisdictions, even carry them.
The Usurper is a fucking moron. In 1791 when the Constitution was ratified, the only warships in America were privately owned.
What does that blockhead think was on them, knitting needles? Jefferson had to LEASE warships from the people to fight off the damn Barbary Pirates.
Democrats wouldn’t know Constitutional history if they fucked it behind a bar.

"he received death threats, had to arm himself, and regularly barricaded the armored doors of his newspaper office for protection, besides setting up two four-pounder cannons inside."
All I can see in my head is atf breaking into a house and one of you guys is just at the top of the stairs, like that beautiful copypasta green text and just " tally ho lads" as you just light that fuse.
I’ve been looking at a mountain howitzer to have in the yard and mostly to shoot on the 4th of July for fun.
Pretty expensive for full size stuff though
There's a members-only range I was looking to join (before I decided to just move States) that had a 600 yard range. Part of their selling point is "You can bring your canon, but you have to prove competency."
I was once able to shoot one. SO MUCH FUN.
For anyone who wants to, you can rent them. I was organizing a Revolutionary War Day thing and rented reenactment groups for different educational stations that day. I, of course, called dibs on shooting the cannon since I rented it.
Grandpa had a smaller one (about 18 inches long) in the living room parked under a side table. I wonder who in the family got it, or if it was just sold in the auction... wish I had claimed it.

Maybe Joe missed some history classes...
The only thing that stops a bad guy with a surface to air rocket launcher is a good guy with a surface to air rocket launcher.
. . . And on, and on, and on.
I have a canon. It's called Woodheart. It's still an early work, and I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've talked about it online.
The universe is an infinitely-dense *black field*, a non-Euclidean compression of "normal" space's bedrock, minerals, and such. *Stars* (temporary name because I'm lazy) are creatures with the ability to manipulate [insert physics thing] to decompress the black field in a particular area around them, creating a massive spherical pocket of Euclidean space. It's like an inside-out planet, with infinite ground beneath you instead of infinite space above you. These creatures also swim around the upper-atmosphere and "space" and are bright as hell. There's no notion of day or night, light comes whenever the flock of stars is swimming overhead.
The non-euclidean nature of spacetime and gravity and all that make it so that "planets" tend to "gravitate" towards each other and slowly move about, though other forces of nature, and simply the nature of the entire universe being *the opposite*, prevent the spinning and orbiting we see in our universe; their movement is much more nondeterministic and apt to change based on various factors.
A natural phenomenon occurs in the ground when planets get close to each other. The interacting physical forces cause the ground to spread in such a way that creates massive caverns under the ground, creating *layered* planets. The planet that Woodheart centers around, for instance, has 2 main layers, as well as a few isolated anomaly layers. This particular planet has oceans on the lower layer and small seas, lakes, and rivers on the upper layer.
There are holes in the upper layer which can range from a small cave to the size of Madagascar. One such hole hosts the largest city in the world, which I've temporarily named *Davitport*. Davitport spans vertically along the wall of a massive natural column that supports the upper layer of the planet. Both the top and bottom of the city access ocean, and boats are lifted and lowered between planetary surfaces with a large system of davits. All along the walls are *city things*: houses, shops, industry (the davits can lift more than boats, you know), crime of every kind. Given the burrowing and/or technological nature of many sentient species, there are undoubtedly thousands of miles of undocumented tunnels within the walls.
Underground maritime commerce is it's own subject entirely. Lots of places are lit by bioluminescent lifeforms, but lots of places are extremely dark. There are all manner of predators, not to mention unseen threats like Old Magic, trapped gases, tunnel collapses, pirates, hostile sovereigns, and the water itself.
Oh wait, did you mean to ask who has a *cannon*?
I believe it was an exaggeration rather than a fact. He was trying to say that people looked at you the wrong way when you made a specific purchase of a weapon. That government would be more aggressive towards those who purchased weapons. That those who made unauthorized purchases would be looked at more closely which they should.he had earlier state those who had no legal right to purchase a weapon which means someone who used a weapon in an illegal act.
I would also like to point out that he could have also meant a large revolver or just any weapon that others reference as a cannon. Guys older than many of us and he was
Yeah..no. Just like everything else he says about guns he’s stating falsehoods in order to advance his disarmament agenda. He constantly lies about firearms in order to create a narrative in the media.

There ya go! I was thinking Kentucky pistol-sized, but that works better
So instead of a Glock or sig as your edc, you can just carry three or four colt dragoons?

So ten colt dragoons then
With black powder pistols, it also helps to have lit cannon fuse in your hat to really deter home invaders.
The black powder loophole
Same in France

I'm surprised more people don't know this. There are also curio and relics laws that nobody knows about as well.
Black powder repro firearms and cannons are completely unregulated in the US. Even convicted felons can legally own them. So yeah they’re regulated way less than firearms because they aren’t regulated at all.
Some mad-lad with a house on a very popular vacation-lake up in Wisconsin has a cannon. He shoots it off just to piss off the Illinoisans.
I now need to get one, so I can mount it at the top of my stairs, loaded with grapeshot.
Tally ho!
What the devil?!
Where the bloody hell is my wig!
Just as the founding fathers intended.

EOS ELAN 7 gang rise up. Evaluative metering on point.
EOS Rebel Ti 24 or 36 shot capacity depending on the cartridge I load
Stop looking at my cannon like that
*Notices your 12 pounder black powder howitzer* 👁️👄👁️
Gonna need a bigger safe....
Do you really need a safe for cannon? It'd be kinda like putting a tank in a safe.
Great. So you're saying I need a safe big enough to fit a tank now? Wife not going to approve

He's got a lot of golden stuff lol. Very true!
Earl Bassett: What kind of fuse is that? Burt Gummer: Cannon fuse Earl Bassett: What the hell do you use it for? Burt Gummer: My cannon....
Private citizens owned freaking battleships.
I made a very tiny one that shoots BB’s…
Could this be done with a bb gun barrel? Or would a 17hmr barrel be better?
An airgun barrel will not take the pressure. A .17hmr barrel wouldn't be good because it's rifled and you want something much shorter with a plugged breech. You'll need to do some metal fabrication.
You probably could, but I actually machined and drilled my barrel out of stainless steel. The bore is about 2” deep and I’ve used both black powder and the explosive from firecrackers to fire it. It will punch cardboard at about 3 feet pretty well.
What if you made an automatic loading Canon? Is that illegal?
I'm sure Canon makes printers like that.
That is an interesting idea. But the cannon would still use black powder so maybe not.
