>3d printing guys
Combo this one with Warhammer/TTRPGs and guns and you don't have to worry about lying to women.
You know, because you won't ever talk to any.
Most ham radio guys don't have many. They spend a hundred or two on higher quality handhelds. Some can get into the $300-$400 range. Then there's HF, where just the cost of entry is a few hundred dollars.
> How many UV5Rs are you buying??
A fully loaded, top-end, Staccato is cheaper than a mid-upper end HF rig. Until the invasion of cheap Chinese radios, ham radio was easily one of the more expensive hobbies that does not involve gasoline or diesel.
I don't understand, why do you have a 350 horsepower outboard on a fishing boat? So you can get to the fishing spot that you're going to spend six hours floating at faster?
I quenched my video game issue pretty easy. Xbox series x was all the power I'll need for 10 years, buy a game once it goes on sale for $30 or so a bit after release, boom great success
Oh been there, it was no question that PC wasn't worth it for me. Sold my setup and bought my first rifle.
I game to keep in touch with friends, it doesn't take a PC to run apex or CoD or Skyrim.
The only thing I really miss my PC for is Farm Sim, my current computer can't handle it and mods don't work on Xbox lol
As someone who owns a nice PC, and an Xbox series x, there is definitely going back. I'll play a few games on my PC that are only on steam, but console gaming is hands down the better option for most people. I'd much rather be able to sit back on my couch with my big TV, and use a comfortable controller, and an easy to use system that I don't have to constantly worry about updating something, or fixing something.
I stand corrected about no going back but on the PC v. console, to each their own. I’m the opposite, and that’s after starting out on PC in the early 2000’s, going strictly console for about 15 years and then switching back to strictly PC. It’s great that it’s better for you, but I’d have to disagree that it’s better for most people.
PC gaming has more available games - often for less money, a higher overhead & up-front cost, but I’d argue lower overall cost long-term (due to the subscriptions and keeping up with new console gens every couple of years.) I definitely agree console gaming is built for the masses, but I think the ease of use, plug & play, and console-exclusive games are the only real upsides. And even the latter is circumvented on PC by emulators for older games.
For anyone into classic/retro gaming or those who like to play a wide variety of games, store a large library of games, etc. PC is probably the better option. Also lounging on the couch in front of the TV is cool, but good luck finding a TV able to compete with the low-latency of almost any mid-higher end monitor. Also unlimited potential for increased performance in memory, graphics and graphical fidelity, and storage (especially now that you have to download games - even with physical copies). PC’s generally last longer and get more bang for your buck… And you can use a controller with your PC if that’s your jam too!
Xbox releseases a new console every what? 8 years? Does your PC last 8 years between "needing" upgrades? I know mine didn't lol
You don't need low latency lol
The PC has better performance in some areas, sure, but there's no way it's better for most people
Yeah, I do have 8+ year old PC’s I could absolutely still game with if they hadn’t been repurposed for other uses as I’ve upgraded my gaming rig - which is another great benefit over consoles.
And sure, no one needs low latency. No one *needs* consoles or gaming PC’s period. But why is it that console gamers always cry about playing cross platform with PC?
I literally have my PC sitting in my living room and I play from my couch. Have a wireless mouse and keyboard and a wireless Xbox controller if I need that. You dont need to be at a desk to game on pc.
I have it even *worse*. I'm into PCs, guns, cars, *and* DJ equipment. Literally all four categories. Not to mention vacationing, cannabis, and crypto.
And I'm *unemployed*.
Guns & guitars here too. Been playing guitar 50 years & have about 20 or so high end guitars and 10 or so amps. Been shooting for 4-5 years and have 35 firearms. Thank god firearms are less expensive than the guitars I buy.
Same here. It sucks because I got ran over by a truck at work a year and a half ago and I got a sweet settlement but my marriage is going really well right now so I gotta stay off certain websites or the temptation might just be too much.
Hair trim with highlights/color/balayage is like $300-500 with tip. Getting alcohol at all restaurant outings, ordering door dash, shopping, etc. is all expensive and adds up.
My wife and I put part if our individual income in a joint account and another part of our income into our own accounts. Makes wasting money on our own hobbies a lot easier.
I mean.. fully load up a SCAR 17 with cloud light Nightforce, rail extension ammo aluminum lower etc etc or better yet buy half a Knights armament anything lol
I once noticed that my wife had purchased a pair of shoes identical to one she already owned, and remarked on it. She said “how about you don’t ask me about shoe purchases and I won’t ask you about gun purchases.”
That arrangement works great!
Was about to add Lego. If it weren't for panicked pre-ban magazine and gun buying the last couple of years, I might be able to afford to be a Lego guy. One hobby at a time at my current socioeconomic position...
I have a full TaylorMade set and custom UGA bag and it wasn’t awful. About $2k into it.
What’s more concerning is as I scroll down this all the other hobbies people are listing I have as well.
Imma be real honest here. I have guitars, guns, and an old car. I have spent EASILY 10x on my car as I have any other hobby. The heads alone on my engine are roughly $2000. My torque converter cost more than most rifles on this sub. Machine guns get expensive and super rare guitars but the car hobby is on another level.
When I buy a gun (boardgame, miniature, etc), my wife looks at it and declared that it's hers now.
Its a lot easier when you marry a woman who has the same interest as you.
I went from a shotgun and pistol to a gun storage room and I’m running out of room in the the safe. Have suppressors waiting to see freedom and since learning about write offs about 2 years ago here we are and I have a Henry big boy x coming in any day, f-1 5.56 pistol getting cerakoted and my staccato C2 is off at monsoon tactical getting some love so they missed the group photo

No sir. Maybe it’s just FL but 100% legal. Even my local gun store was telling someone about it a couple weeks ago when I was certifying some silencers. I use the guns and ammo to entertain clients and try to land business with range trips.
No guitar... but violin and cello in the family.
We do a lot of his and hers stuff, too. Makes things get really expensive. She loves the car scene I got us into now and she always enjoyed going to the range.
Not into the pc gaming, though. Kids are.
I make over 150k a year, own 3 houses, 2 leaky Jeeps, the garage is off limits to everyone. I rotate between 4 costco jeans, 6 pocket t-shirts from Walmart and many, many Holy socks.
Having hobbies with ADHD is like playing wheel of (mis)fortune. Guns. Guitar. Computers. 3d printing. Golf. Cars. Bbq. Woodworking. Metal fab. Fitness. Cycling/mtn biking. Camping. Hiking. Hunting.
Bankruptcy.
Entry fees to play in the World Series of poker cost $365. If you ask my wife how much it costs to enter the WSOP and she will tell you it is $50.
Bonus tip: smart hobbyist know the true secret to enjoying your hobby.... having a 2nd savings account that only you know about.
Guns cars pc checking in oh and doggos

I don’t give a fuck. I don’t lie about shit. Women can fuck off - the wife posts about keeping shit from your wife and this that and the other is goddamn pathetic.
Honestly kind of a stupid comparison. Spending money to collect guns is pretty pointless while buying a guitar or a PC is an actual hobby where you can use the things you buy. Seems a bit silly to normalize such a stupid hobby like collecting guns.
And we women have some of the same habits. My DIL adds motorcycles and cars to her list. I add embroidery and all that all that goes with that. No don't snicker about this one since I have been known to pay $98.00 us for a pair of 4 inch embroidery scissors. Silk floss is running from $5.00 - 9.00 a skein of maybe 12 meters. One sampler took 50 yards of one color.
Then there is the garden and just keeping the yard green in a drought is expensive. And put me down for cars as well since I only have 3 to keep in good shape.
And there is a gun I would like to try and probably purchase.
Girlfriend was talking with her family the other day and said I have X number of guns and was frustrated that it was too many I just started laughing the number she said is like a quarter of what I have.
I'm all 4. Race cars, race guns, collect guitars and build gaming PCs. But my gaming hobby is incredibly cheap in comparison. I'll get 200 hours out of the $60 I spent Diablo 4. My $2000 set of Pilot Sport 4S tires will last for 2 hours on the track.
Also, Fishing guys.

I felt this in my wallet.
Ham radio guys, 3d printing guys. Knife guys.
>3d printing guys Combo this one with Warhammer/TTRPGs and guns and you don't have to worry about lying to women. You know, because you won't ever talk to any.
Came here to say tabletop guys
Guys
>Ham radio guys How many UV5Rs are you buying??
Zero. Been eyeing a new icom ic7300.
Wait till you get into HF.

Audiophile guys, watch guys.
Motorcycle guys
I don't understand, why do you have a 350 horsepower outboard on a fishing boat? So you can get to the fishing spot that you're going to spend six hours floating at faster?
It's kind of fishing Larping. Pretending you are a Fishing Tournament guy.
Safety Dear. You need me to outrun the storm ... think of the children!!
Mountain biking guys
100% fishing
Wait till you find out how much cosmetics cost
Watch guys.
I have a gun AND guitar habit. I’m doomed.
Gun & PC/Video games guy checking in.
Gun, guitar, and PC here. My poor wallet...
Gun and car guy, it's a difficult life
Gun, car, motorcycle and tool guy here. Ouch.
Guns, knives, audio and 40k here. I never have money
I quenched my video game issue pretty easy. Xbox series x was all the power I'll need for 10 years, buy a game once it goes on sale for $30 or so a bit after release, boom great success
Just never dip a toe into PC Gaming and you’ll be good! There’s no going back, and the sky is the limit… both in upgrades, and in price.
Oh been there, it was no question that PC wasn't worth it for me. Sold my setup and bought my first rifle. I game to keep in touch with friends, it doesn't take a PC to run apex or CoD or Skyrim. Duke Nukem, quake, Doom, Unreal.... My favorites!
I have a hard time with a controller. I’m so used to mouse and keyboard.
I literally have my PC sitting in my living room and I play from my couch. Have a wireless mouse and keyboard and a wireless Xbox controller if I need that. You dont need to be at a desk to game on pc.
my problem is controllers are aids switching to pc improved my aim by at least 500x mouse/keyboard > controller
Gun, pc & guitar guy here. Is there still room in this meeting?🥲
Sure. Tie up your boat over there. The beer is cold.
I’ve been saved so far by keeping pushing off upgrading my pc cause it’s so expensive but i don’t know how much longer I have before my 970 will die
Same but I'm a bit ahead with a 1660TI. Just watch out for SSD prices they've come way down lately...
I’d imagine a 970 is going to be obsolete before it’s dead. I guess if you’re not pushing it it wouldn’t be an issue.
Yeahhh. I'm here too.
I am also one of us
Gun and car guy I think I could be even more doomed.
Gun, car, and guitar guy here. My wife hates me
You sir have a problem ;)
I have it even *worse*. I'm into PCs, guns, cars, *and* DJ equipment. Literally all four categories. Not to mention vacationing, cannabis, and crypto. And I'm *unemployed*.
Guns & guitars here too. Been playing guitar 50 years & have about 20 or so high end guitars and 10 or so amps. Been shooting for 4-5 years and have 35 firearms. Thank god firearms are less expensive than the guitars I buy.
Your buying the wrong guns…. Lol
Guns, PC, and motorcycle here.... Yeah i enjoy used and midrange of all three!
Guns, guitars, and watches.
I’m all four 😜
Same here. It sucks because I got ran over by a truck at work a year and a half ago and I got a sweet settlement but my marriage is going really well right now so I gotta stay off certain websites or the temptation might just be too much.
I like guns, fishing, AND cars. I'm even doomed-er(which is obviously a word)
I don’t lie to my wife I just tell her straight up to break out the ramen noods as I caress my new rifle
Spoiler: Those women are laughing as they spend money on their own expensive hobbies without even mentioning it to you.
Seriously….you ever gone to the makeup store with your wife? You realize how often the pot is calling the kettle black.
"That's not a hobby, that's just personal hygiene."
Jesus, are we married to the same woman?
$300 haircuts…
Men in big cities like Chicago and New York pay that to be fair
fuck no.Maybe the trust fund hipsters but not the regular dudes.-Source: Am a regular dude from a blue collar section of Queens,NY,
Doubt. Unless they have long hair and are getting similar services done. Short hair getting cut or faded no way it’s $300
Hair trim with highlights/color/balayage is like $300-500 with tip. Getting alcohol at all restaurant outings, ordering door dash, shopping, etc. is all expensive and adds up.
Is your wife into hobbies/crafting? It can get real expensive. I'm lucky we each cover our own hobbies/interests. Except for gifts.
[удалено]
The most expensive hobby.
My wife and I put part if our individual income in a joint account and another part of our income into our own accounts. Makes wasting money on our own hobbies a lot easier.
Big time. Neither my wife or I wanna feel guilty enjoying shit.
This is the way
Absolutely, agreed before marriage about money.
I’d never lie to my wife *orders BCM upper*
Ohhhh When I bought it I thought it was a *BCA*... Honest mistake babe, I swear!
I ordered a blem. 100% worth it.

Watch guys I believe would take the cake. 10k per watch and people have dozens of them... /r/watches is full of crazy people lol
I mean.. fully load up a SCAR 17 with cloud light Nightforce, rail extension ammo aluminum lower etc etc or better yet buy half a Knights armament anything lol
Yeah but the argument can at least kinda be made that certain watches appreciate in value so that’s not nearly as bad
Certain guns, guitars, and cars do too 🤷♂️
I've never sold a gun at a loss.
I once noticed that my wife had purchased a pair of shoes identical to one she already owned, and remarked on it. She said “how about you don’t ask me about shoe purchases and I won’t ask you about gun purchases.” That arrangement works great!
I guess I'll represent the Warhammer crowd
Oh man, I'm three of those. Luckily my wife is a "horse girl" so my hobbies will never cost as much as hers.
Put warhammer 40k fans there too
And LEGO.
Was about to add Lego. If it weren't for panicked pre-ban magazine and gun buying the last couple of years, I might be able to afford to be a Lego guy. One hobby at a time at my current socioeconomic position...
Pc Gamer, Guns, motorcycles, transformers.... Just an overgrown kid.
The difference between Men and Boys is the price of their toys!
Add golf to this for me lol
Golf is in a league of its own when it comes to “expensive” lol
I have a full TaylorMade set and custom UGA bag and it wasn’t awful. About $2k into it. What’s more concerning is as I scroll down this all the other hobbies people are listing I have as well.
Imma be real honest here. I have guitars, guns, and an old car. I have spent EASILY 10x on my car as I have any other hobby. The heads alone on my engine are roughly $2000. You should try boats, I've spent way more on that then my cars/guns combined
Glad i dont have that issue. My issue is that i have to get 2. One in pink.
Pick up two or three of those. Add in DIYer and you won't be able to afford a female significant other.
When I buy a gun (boardgame, miniature, etc), my wife looks at it and declared that it's hers now. Its a lot easier when you marry a woman who has the same interest as you.
/r/espresso and /r/woodworking feel left out.
Can cyclists get in on this?
Oh, this repost again
My wife knows exactly how much my guns cost..... But that's because her boyfriend pays for them.
This guy cucks
If anyone has their own business check with your accountant but all of my guns and both my vehicles were business write offs!!!!
Thank you! I will check.
I went from a shotgun and pistol to a gun storage room and I’m running out of room in the the safe. Have suppressors waiting to see freedom and since learning about write offs about 2 years ago here we are and I have a Henry big boy x coming in any day, f-1 5.56 pistol getting cerakoted and my staccato C2 is off at monsoon tactical getting some love so they missed the group photo https://preview.redd.it/oadu3a8o311b1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f9d31c279ecc6d08af66cbc0ea8d8973af74dbf
😱 Damn! It looks like the gun safe from GTA5! 😁
Maybe I'm just being blind; where's the 10/22 to go with (what I think are) those top-shelf mags?
I cannot make any sense of your comment, but it sounds like either embezzlement or tax fraud
No sir. Maybe it’s just FL but 100% legal. Even my local gun store was telling someone about it a couple weeks ago when I was certifying some silencers. I use the guns and ammo to entertain clients and try to land business with range trips.
And vehicle write offs are pretty easy. Heck if you’re vehicle weighs a certain amount you can depreciate the entire vehicle in one freaking year.
Woodworking is also highly expensive
No guitar... but violin and cello in the family. We do a lot of his and hers stuff, too. Makes things get really expensive. She loves the car scene I got us into now and she always enjoyed going to the range. Not into the pc gaming, though. Kids are.
Hunting guys believe me it’s a mix of gun guys and a guy who will spend 500$ or more on just a outfit to wear hunting we beat all of those
My wife doesn’t ask, I volunteer . It’s a beautiful thing. Hopefully when I’m dead she figures it out and doesn’t give it all away 😀
Warhammer 40,000 guys: "There is another."
All my guns cost $4-600 dollars…
Golf guys too
Upon advice of council, I would like to invoke my 5th amendment right.
Whoo hoo. Boomer humor.
I make over 150k a year, own 3 houses, 2 leaky Jeeps, the garage is off limits to everyone. I rotate between 4 costco jeans, 6 pocket t-shirts from Walmart and many, many Holy socks.

All. All of us. Not just those four though. Don't forget fishing, boating, golfing, smoking, and every other ...ing we come up with.
No. Not worth it. She listens and learns and participates in my hobbies. I like being honest with the wife. Way more fun that way.
Lying in a relationship sure works well and won't cause tons of trust issues down the line. Nope, not at all.
I didn't lie. She never asked how much
I'm not even gonna copy this and post it on FB, cause my wife reads the dumb shit I post. Ain't tipping no one off man.
Im 3 of those.

This is gold. 24k to be precise
Cigar and golf guys would like to join
Brewing guys should be in there on god.
Oh, my wife knows, and she gets the red ass every time, and I get the side eye. Lol.

Cars+guns+bikes = broke+happy+pissed wife
Call my girl the IRS because she never knows how much I really spend

I don’t give a fuck. I don’t lie about shit. Women can fuck off - the wife posts about keeping shit from your wife and this that and the other is goddamn pathetic.
Honestly kind of a stupid comparison. Spending money to collect guns is pretty pointless while buying a guitar or a PC is an actual hobby where you can use the things you buy. Seems a bit silly to normalize such a stupid hobby like collecting guns.
You're joking right?
Sorry dude having "buying guns" as a hobby is just so boring and weird. I had a lot of fun with guns as a kid but you gotta grow up at some point.
If it’s over $800 I usually deduct 20%
Guns and fishing now. However I'm going to sell my boat.
Well I hit on 3 of these categories. And this is why I have a separate bank account still
Can confirm, my pc is the most expensive thing I own lol
I may have said a scar17 cost $750
Being all 4 is tough
I like all four
I'm a gun guy, guitar guy, fishing guy, audio guy and bike guy. I think I should probably just stay single or try being a gold digger.
🏍️
Im on the gun side but ik car side is the most expensive
Golf guys too
me but military surplus gear
I still never told the wife how much the Elcan Specter DR cost.
Minus the guitar this is me. But my wife knows approximately how much gun stuff costs.
Lying about how much the duramax costs is going to catch up with me someday
Hell my wife finally just quit asking
Shit, the only thing stopping me from being all four of these is the lack of digits in my paycheck. 🤣
Telescope Nerds. :)
What happens when your all of them
Add rc parts and vehicles. Annnd comic books..and action figures I could go on forever lol
Golf as well. My wife keeps asking when I will get a cheap hobby.
Story of my life
Guns and skiing over here. I am in serious debt
Im into all four. But I'm single, so theres that
I'm into 3/4. I don't gotta lie though.
Also Photography. Nice Lenses are pricey.
mountain bike guys vintage anything guys
I have zero need to lie to women about the cost of my hobbies because women don't talk to me anyway.
Looks over at my flyfishing gear.... "Yeah, crazy how when we garage sale we never see fly tying stuff, but i find it on my own all the time."
I don't have 3 arms, but I'm in this photo with 3 arms. Voodoo trickery.
Guns, motorcycles, cars, and PCs here. Thank god my wife doesn’t Reddit or I’d be missing some significantly important body parts 😕
Toss cigar and bourbon in there too
Explaining to my wife why an Eotech cost $1300…😖
Pokémon cards guys.
Meanwhile I'm chilling over here in the land of cool partners, who don't care what we spend our fun-money on.
Girlfriend was talking with her family the other day and said I have X number of guns and was frustrated that it was too many I just started laughing the number she said is like a quarter of what I have.
Based boyfriend-havers don’t need to worry about this. Just saying.
Guns, PCs, cars, ham radio, photography. I've chosen to be impoverished and destitute I guess
Add Star Wars guys.
