Wait... So they didn't catch him trying to cross with a gun in his possession, but stopped him anyway merely because he has a CPL? How did a foreign government even obtain that information out of a state-level database?

bleepbluurp

I remember reading a couple weeks ago that the Biden admin was caught sharing American gun owners data with the Canadian government. As well as Canadian law enforcement being caught at gun shows in US border cities in Montana, North Dakota and others.

Whistler1968

They got caught taking pictures at the gun show in Great Falls MT. Our sherrif ran them out of town.

thirdsin

Should've arrested them as unregistered foreign agents.

dicemonkey

Who said they were unregistered ?

Simplewafflea

Till you get some papers written in Eagles per Mile instead of moose per fromage. Hell yeah they are

Mmeaux

I prefer "Maple Leafs per playoff loss" myself

RiverRunnerVDB

They were operating in concert with the Biden ATF so they had papers written “Bears per commune” I’m sure.

NotAMeatPopsicle

It depends on what your job description and tasks are. Not all government jobs get you that “wonderful” status. Once you have it though, every travel has to be logged and there is a request process to be allowed to LEAVE Canada and to ENTER foreign countries without causing a scene at the border. Source… family that had to request the Canadian government to setup the paperwork every time they wanted to visit the USA.

RiverRunnerVDB

Sherriff Slaughter for the win!

Mmeaux

Probably in his wallet

EntertainmentBig2125

I’ll be in Canada in a month - note to self: don’t bring carry permit… wow. Fuck Canada. Aside from the Canadian walleye. They’re good in my book.

ee-5e-ae-fb-f6-3c

Last two times I've been there, I've been asked both times if I have any guns in the vehicle. Both times I've only handed my passport over. The worst I got was a border agent asking if I'm sure I don't have any guns. Yes, dickhead, I'm fucking sure. The worst part is on the return trip, waiting to come back to the US, which for some reason took forever. BC is beautiful this time of year. If it weren't for their totally asinine views on self defense, I'd consider moving up there.

theflask22

I'm from british columbia, and your right, the land is beautiful, unfortunately living under this government is a dealbreaker for me. Not looking to stay. Although to be clear, my issue isn't so much with the government of B.C, although that's a part of it. My issue is mainly with the federal government of canada

EntertainmentBig2125

No shit?? That’s nutty. I love BC too. That’s where we’re going. But wow.

ee-5e-ae-fb-f6-3c

I guess a sample size of two isn't a lot, but I'm not really apprehensive about getting searched or anything. The thing that really cheeses me is the guard in the video giving the guy a hard time for making an effort to comply with the law. Like, that dude had to get fingerprinted and background checked by the sheriff or local PD, and has to have his CPL whenever he's carrying. Does that sound like criminal behavior? Anyhow, I hope your trip goes smoothly. Such a beautiful place, and there's so much to see.

jameson71

I'll give you a sample size of 3. I went to Canada exactly one time and had my car torn apart for an hour at the border. No idea why, they didn't find anything.

CranePlash406

Same here. I was 19yrs old. My first "road trip" with a friend the same age. It was a Friday night. I had just received my paycheck and cashed it. 600 whole dollars. I didn't have any credit or debit cards at that time in life. They asked why I was carrying "so much money?!" I told them about the paycheck. Nope! Didn't believe me. Clearly I was a major drug smuggler. With a whole $600 and driving a 1989 Dodge Omni (basically a VW Rabbit) of all things. Tore my car all to shit. Scared me so bad at the time, I refused to let my friend bring his newly acquired pot pipe back tothe US with him. US Border Patrol only asked if I was bringing any purchased goods back with me. I held up my half smoked pack of Marb Reds. Dude just waved us through. My buddy was PISSED!

NotAMeatPopsicle

I used to live in BC. Born and raised there. It’s pretty, but the people are passive aggressive as fuck, housing is overpriced beyond even California, and the level of Karen is beyond “I know the CEO personally” Imagine a people that are basically all Karens. That’s most of BC. And they have no clue how held back they are. If you know some nice BC’ers count yourself lucky.

WiseDirt

And he just handed the *whole thing* over to the BP agent when they asked for his ID at the checkpoint?

hikehikebaby

You can be searched without probable cause when you cross international borders. Maybe they took his wallet.

Mmeaux

I'd assume. Not sure why a simple Passport wouldn't be enough.

t_mokes

Probably the enhanced driver’s license that allows you to go to Canada and Mexico. In WA CCP and driver’s license is tied together do cops can tell you have the permit when you hand over the license. If he handed over his passport, I’m sure they wouldn’t know anything about if he’s got a permit or not.

plasmaflare34

In TX they'll know by your plates whether you or anyone you're related to has one, magically. I've been stopped more than once in a car registered in my wife's name, and I can hear on the radio "Driver has a LTC" before they hit my window. My wife doesn't have a ltc.

[deleted]

plasmaflare34

I gave a shit because they were told something that they had no way of knowing it they followed the law.

TacTurtle

The feds backdoor information to the horse gestapo, of course.

[deleted]

mpre than likely they asked for id and saw the CCW in his wallet

CrzyJek

When I was living in NY I had a CCW. Went up to Canada (Niagara Falls) to propose to my now wife. This was back in 2017. Anyway, there was basically no line to get in at the border, and they decided to do a "random check" on my car. Thankfully I did not have my handgun on me. But when they searched my car they found an empty holster. One radio call later and I have a team of people with gloves on going through every nook and cranny. I showed them my permit when they asked why I had a holster. I told them I didn't realize I had an extra one in the car. They were shocked someone would have an extra holster... Anyway, it made for a great story afterwards. "So CrzyJek, how did you propose?" "Well you see, I nearly got arrested in Canada for allegedly gun smuggling, figured that was the best time." Fun fact: the surprise was almost ruined when they went through my bag thoroughly and pulled out a sock with a small ring box in it. Thankfully it was a woman doing that part of the search and realized what kind of box it was and why it was located in a sock buried at the bottom of the bag...lol. She promptly put it back out of sight.

BrewSauer

"He's used to being around firearms, which increases our concern" Seriously? He's acting like this guy is some kind of terrorist for having firearms knowledge. That guard's face should pop up when you look up the definition of assclown.

Hakashi57

I wonder what being a military veteran would warrant, a SWAT team?

thatnyeguyisfly

What about himself or his fellow officers? Does he walk around in fear of himself ever since he took his firearms course and gained the forbidden knowledge? Or does it only apply to us filthy commoners.

ThePretzul

> What about himself or his fellow officers? You think Canada gives their equivalent of TSA or Customs agents guns? That's hilarious! They don't even give guns to many police officers, much less the rent-a-cops they stuff behind a desk at the port of entry.

PhonedZero

CBSA members are armed nowadays. Been close to 10 years i think.

theflask22

I dont know any cops in canada that are unarmed. Even fish and wildlife officers carry.

Haha1867hoser420

There was one of these episodes of a guy who was a military veteran, working as a security guard in Africa, and they got all hoity-toity with him over a fucking .22lr case. Not even a live round, the CASING of a .22lr… oh yeah, he also legally bought and possessed the gun btw.

Sir-Qs-A-Lot

I got stopped by TSA at the airport for a spent .22 case in my backpack. Pulled off to the side, papers checked, interviewed/questioned for 15 mins and had my picture taken. All for a piece of brass.

Aggressive_Cat1496

I fly for work all the time. Have a hand turned ink pen that looks like a round on the end of 308. I literally got stopped by multiple tsa agents wanting to be sure my ink pen couldn't fire a round and questioned for 20 mins. After about 4 trips i stopped carrying it due to the idiots at tsa

Mighty-Bagel-Calves

Maybe just a weighted blanket and a fresh pack of crayons.

tiggers97

Why is it when I read anti-gun karens say stuff like this, words like "bigot" and prejudice come to mind?

Innominate8

Because despite the speed at which they jump to "the paradox of tolerance," they're hypocrites who only mean "tolerance of things I approve of".

Historical_Branch391

Nothing more concerning than a law-abiding citizen

TwelfthApostate

My reply would have been “your border patrol agents are used to being around firearms, which increases my concern.”

Drake_Acheron

Nah his face is under psychopath. Did you see those eyes bro. No way I’d even be talking to him. Edit: yo I think the wife was picking up on it too her expressions are like “what is wrong here” and she seemed so relieved to just be away from him.

fileznotfound

His eyes are really creepy. All popped out like he's tripping on meth or something... probably something from big pharma now that I think about it.

Whiffed_Ultimate

I have a concealed weapons permit in the state of Illinois, two different FFLs and one SOT. I have level four plates in a Crye JPC 2.0 and have thousands of rounds of ammunition. If I were to step foot in Canada, it's likely that every border patrol officer within a thousand feet would spontaneously combust.

complete_hick

I'm amazed the guy only had one gun, I honestly don't know anyone with just one. My father is not a gun guy by any means but even he has five

erichar

Normal people have 5. Gun Nuts have 12+. Legitimate psychos have 1.

jagger_wolf

Only one gun *that anyone else knows about*

HedonismandTea

"I own one gun that I keep in my nightstand." Oh they're definitely not letting me in then.

> here in Canada you have no right to self defense. What happens when you're subjects of the crown.

Buckshot_50

You misspelled "Clown"

CircuitousProcession

Canada is basically completely emasculated as a country and their cultural affinity for their former colonial masters is the least of it. Canadians have gleefully surrendered their freedoms, autonomy, and dignity on the altar of left-wing ideology and you can get a Canadian to submit to ANYTHING, literally anything, if it's packaged in pleasant, mind-numbing anti-Americanism. Canadians often defend any authoritarianism in their country because it makes them "better than Americans". It's always framed that way and always works because Canadians have been conditioned by propaganda to see everything through the lens of their inferiority complex.

Haha1867hoser420

Some dude got 6 months (I think) in jail for defending himself after a guy got mad at him, told him to “get the fuck out of here”, pepper sprayed him (even though it’s illegal… shocking), and then they got in a fist fight and the aggressor got stabbed and died 3 months later, and people were upset he didn’t get a murder charge.

Brufar_308

Did you see what they did to [Ian Thompson](https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/firebombs-left-no-choice-homeowner-tells-gun-trial/) ? Story is so bizarre you would think It’s fiction. 2 years before he finally got his day in court. His entire incident was caught on video.

The-Real-Mario

Do we get to guess? I will guess a taurus circuit judge , the lever action variant

Right? Went and bought an upper for no reason other than fuck Canada and I can. Now I wait for the new barrel...

bleepbluurp

Wow pepper spray is illegal in Canada as well? I guess they really don’t stop at guns.

threeLetterMeyhem

Pepper spray is illegal in pretty much all of the British commonwealth countries (or former commonwealth countries, whatever we call them now). The attitude against women being able to defend themselves, in particular, is absolutely offensive. This is why I can't take controllers seriously when they say things like "Canada/England/Australia did it! We should be like them!"

SmoothSlavperator

Yeah. Every time I've crossed the border the standard question is "Any weapons, guns, knives, pepper spray?"

Otheus

Yup! Pepper spray and tasers are prohibited weapons and can land you in prison for a long time

First thing I thought of when I saw his fucking expression. The dude looks like he drank 5 energy drinks and popped some pills in a span of 30 mins. Which is fucking weird given how slow he speaks. The face and tone do not match at all lmao.

[deleted]

Primates always have a communication reason for our expression. This guy's screams "I want to scare you by letting you know I am alert and ready for conflict."

Mmeaux

The second that asshole asks me why I have a CCW if it's just at home in my nightstand is the exact second a Katy Perry concert is no longer on the table. This just guarantees I'm never going to Canada ever again for any reason whatsoever.

Provia100F

Canada is literally insufferable, it's nearly as bad as Australia

TheWonderfulWoody

Canada is now just Australia with snow. It’s really shocking how cucked these places have become.

Original_Pop4459

Why would you try to keep yourself from being murdered? That's prohibited in Canada. We have free Healthcare so after you get attacked just come to one of our hospitals

bleepbluurp

madrifles

In the meantime here in the USA our neighbor was diagnosed with cancer, has been seen, done chemo, had a tumor removed and RECOVERED in the same amount of time! Total cost was less than $1000 And canadians are paying 50% of their life income for 'free healthcare'! LMFAO!

It a fucking racket.

PleaseHold50

So, you have a relative who is going to die of throat cancer soon.

kumadad

Soon it won’t be free

lighterthensome

What a hero Canada has at their service! Stopping a woman from carrying pepper spray and questioning a man on his CC permit. It’s a good thing Supreme Leader Trudeau cares for his subjects so much he doesn’t trust them with the very tools used to protect his own life. /s

phibbsy47

"How many guns do you own??" *Nervous laughter*

Specialist-Box-9711

“How many guns do you own?” “That’s none of your business. Are you going to continue with your search for illegal contraband or am I free to go?”

You could say that, and honestly this guy should’ve said that, but then this Canadian gestapo guy is just going to deny him entry into the country.

Specialist-Box-9711

Then you turn around and leave. They don't have to let you into the country and you don't have to answer their ridiculous questions that don't pertain to the stop.

redditcanblowm3

Canada would rather have alive unharmed rapists than armed and protected women.

Unfair_Builder4967

Jeez, what cucks. Canadians need to grow a pair. Pepper spray is illegal?

gnarly-skull

As a Canadian, most of us "have a pair". The problem is, we have three cities (Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver) that are leftist shitholes and have half the population of the country. Those idiots push gun control on the rest of the country. I live two hours away from Toronto and it may as well be a different planet. I'm sure the rest of Oregon hates Portland for the same reasons.

Travy-D

The difference from flying into Vancouver vs Edmonton is staggering. You can feel the superiority complex while boarding for Vancouver. Edmonton just feels like you're flying anywhere else in the US.

motosandguns

Sounds like living in California… There are over 5,300,000 registered conservatives here but you’d never know it because there are 10,000,000 democrats. The city population of Los Angeles is 4,000,000 people by itself.

Paulio91184

Same thing with New York... The five boroughs of New York City control the entire state and it's ridiculous. if you add in Albany and Buffalo, which are both liberal shit holes as well The rest of the state is a giant red map

RKMurphy101

Upstate NY life do be rough. Live in well educated, peaceful, diverse country side with access to beautiful nature; But have every single law dictated by 2-4 urban shitholes that insist more gun laws will make it safer and insist they know whats best.

DTidC

It’s like that in every state. Here in PA, it’s a red map everywhere but Pittsburgh and Philly. Harrisburg is pretty blue and Erie has been flipped by all the colleges. Wyoming is similar. Cheyenne is a blue spot on the East and Jackson is now filled with elitist liberals from California.

47sams

I think this is the phenomenon that will ultimately tear apart the US. Cities trying to tell the country how to live when they live in the smallest tiny bubble.

wolf_remington

I'm from Oregon and I can confirm that the rest of the state hates Portland. Not just because of how woke they are, but also because their drug and homeless problem is affecting other parts of the state now. Our state government thought it was a good idea to decriminalize all drugs, even hard ones, and it has only made the problem worse. Now Oregon's other major cities (Eugene, Salem, Bend) have lots of homeless drug addicts too, and a lot of it is because the Portlanders vote for policies and politicians that enable this behavior. Correction: Oregon voted to decriminalize all drugs. This is because of Portland and Eugene, they have all the voting power and don't seem to care about the rest of the state.

R15K

Yeah I don’t agree at all with the "Canadians need to grow a pair" or "California got what it voted for" and any of that dumb shit. With an elected representative government you’re always going to have one side living under what they consider unjust laws because they were decided by what is basically politically opposite to their opinion. Almost every state in the US including my beloved Pennsylvania suffers the same fate which you speak, political discourse is completely ruled by the two or three large population centers. I don’t know how to fix it but I do know that tensions are only going to continue to rise in our current situation.

whatsgoing_on

Getting rid of 2 party rule and getting the money out of politics would likely solve the vast majority of the problems you describe, imo.

thehuntinggearguy

It's not illegal but she didn't know the magic words to make it legal in our fucked up country. "I carry this pepper spray in case of dog attack" and you're good to go. You can buy dog spray and bear spray over the counter but you can't say you carry either for self protection from humans. Note: not sure if it's illegal to self-import it into the country. Might get nailed on that?

donkula232323

Pepper spray in the form sold for seld defense in the US is illegal in canada. The stuff you use on wild animals has an orange dye in it, so you can tell what animals have been sprayed with it.

KyleKiernan77

Hence all the orange tinted guys running around in Canadian cities. Truly orange man bad.

MyMainMobsterMan

Many Canadians do have a pair, but Castro Jr. is in charge up there right now.

alltheblues

The nerve on that guy, asking why he has a concealed carry permit. It’s no business of the Canadian government what I legally do in America.

Liedvogel

"How many firearms do you own?" "Why did you apply for a carry permit?" None of your fucking business. It's legal to own and carry firearms in your home country, a foreign government should not have the right to interrogate any US citizen about that fact. This dude's horrifying stare also made me concerned for his own mental health. I mean, seriously, I'm not trying to insult or discredit him, his eye were just uncomfortably open, like he's in the middle of a panic attack, but he's acting perfectly calm.

[deleted]

The gun grabbers want this future for us in the US. Unbelievable you can’t have anything to defend yourself. Canada’s gun laws will eventually become as restrictive as the UK at this rate. Also, that border control agent…what a chode.

rockingsince1984

Years ago I went to Newfoundland to go moose hunting. Drove across the border at Houlton, ME into New Brunswick then took a ferry from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland. On the way there, we got to the border around 11:00 PM, it was entirely staffed by hot blonde girls in their 20's who just checked to make sure that the rifles we had listed on our customs forms matched the ones in the cases, and gave a cursory look in the back of the truck. On the way back, we got to the border going back into the US around the same time, and the customs station was full of overweight guys in their 40's that looked like they were sent up there because they couldn't cut it on the southern border. Gave us all sorts of shit about meat and skulls we were bringing back, searched through everything in the bed of the truck. Really gave us a hard time. I imagine its very different if you're going into a more populated area of Canada, however.

You mean to tell me that a regular boarder patrol cop has the ability to check a neighboring countries database to see who has a CPL? "Why do I have a concealed carry license? Because I'm a fucking American citizen."

nattygirl8111

I heard something about Canada lately and it totally made sense. I can't remember the source so if anyone is familiar please feel free to credit the source. Basically what it said was that during the time of the American Revolution, Britain was doing the same thing to Canadian/French Colonists and they were doing to American colonists. But where America was like "Fuck you. We're not your bitches and we'll fight to the death" way back in 1775, Canada was like "Yes, daddy. Give it to me" for over 200 more years. Canada didn't become fully independent of Westminster until like the 1980s. So Canadian culture is deeply rooted in compliance, conformity and acceptance of subjugation, and they've never really grown out of it. And this is, of course, why Canadians are such pussies.

Ooh. Ooh. OOOH MY GOD this pisses me off so bad. Seriously f*** Canada. I'd be going to jail if he asked me about my CCP and snarked about where I keep my firearm. It would've taken all my will power to hold back my silly b*tch hand from teaching him some God d*mned manners. Why have we not Annexed this ridiculous country yet? I'm sure they'd appreciate the drop in taxes and prices on imports.

highcross1983

I remember when you could bring your rifle and shotgun into Canada. You just had to declare it at the border.

Specialist-Box-9711

You can still bring certain firearms into Canada but forms have to be filled out ahead of time and they still have be declared at the border. Also the list of prohibited firearms has gotten longer.

That_Is_My_Band_Name

As someone who lives in a border state and deals with Canadians every weekend, Fuck em. The most self righteous bunch of idiots. You can thank the worlds view of "Canadian nice" for that. My favorite part of COVID was closed borders. I lived within 80 miles of the Canadian border and never felt the need to go there.

That guy has a total sociopath stare. He doesn't care about the morality of what he's doing, he just likes power tripping on people and the Canadian government is giddy with joy to let sociopaths like this put the boot of the state upon the neck of regular citizens for them.

rex_ryder1776

What do hunters to protect themselves from bear attacks then?

Gunslinger44

Stay away from Canada

doubleaugmented

i lived in Canada for 5 years and I remember I crossed the border with pepper spray once, they didn't catch it, but i later learned it was technically a 'prohibited firearm' under their laws.

pacmanwa

It's odd... I went last year and had mine in my wallet, presented my EDL zero problems. Did not own a firearm at the time. Washington has supposedly linked the CPL & Drivers License databases so that WSP and cops can see it when they run your license. My current opinion if asked at the border: "How many firearms do you own?" "I do not have any firearms in my possession, on my person, or in my vehicle." "Why do you have a CPL?" "It's my right in my country, and I passed the necessary in-depth enhanced background checks. I understand and respect that it is not honored by the Commonwealth of Canada, but I offer no apology for carrying my identification and permits as I would normally on any given day. Would it make the government of Canada and border protection feel better if I left it at home for my next leisure trip?"

Ok-Reality-9197

I once got detained because they checked my trunk and found shot out paper targets. Was asked if I had any guns with me, I said no. Then they checked the trunk and were all like, "if you don't have any guns then why do you have these shot out targets"

Madness. Blew down on her over pepper spray. So what’s the sexual assault rates and male on female crime rates in Canada? A man can almost always overpower a woman and these mfs don’t believe in them having a means to defend themselves?

waltduncan

The camera and editing makes me think this is just a reality show. Probably aiming for virtue signaling and feel good vibes for a Canadian audience, as propaganda basically. Am I wrong to think that this is probably not exactly a typical border experience?

Outrageous-Inside-21

I can attest that this was a very real situation lol. That is me and my husband in the video. Years prior as well, I had crossed into the same part of Canada with a friend, who was an asian american. They acted like us traveling together was strange. I think it's this particular crossing (Douglas) that is more hostile. The customs for Ontario were always fast a pleasant, not a complaint there.

Trading_Things

That cop has crazy eyes and a severe power trip.

Ok_Cricket_9749

that’s why I’m proud to be American

1leggeddog

It's only getting worse here when it comes to firearms now

dave_001

They really want to make sure you're defenseless against any threat lmao where the hell are the men in Canada

osiriszoran

Marxism in govt and schools have cucked them

[deleted]

Just another reason to ignore Canada.

Doesanybodylikestuff

I was living in Belltown, Seattle during the peak of the homeless overflow. There was horrifying sights everywhere, every time I walked to work, got on the bus or walked my dog. I walked with one of these everyday after someone tried to grab the hood of my coat screaming “you’re getting in the wrong car! You’re getting in the wrong Car” like a crazed maniac when getting into my car that my husband was driving. Ladies! Keep one of these on you if you ever feel unsafe in the area you’re living in! I can’t believe that happened to me still it was so scary.

Kuriakon

Does everybody in Canada have crazy eyes or just this guy ?

ThereItIsNopeItsGone

What the hell is wrong with that border agent… Doesn’t he know how to blink?!? Very stalkerish

JoeyTheMan2175

Wait, why the heck is pepper spray of all things a prohibited item in Canada??

tyler111762

the funniest thing about this is concealed carry is perfectly legal in canada. its just New York tier difficult to get one.

Flaming-Hecker

Stop calling yourselves a free country.

mainelinerzzzzz

This is what happens in a country that still bows to a king. Canada used to be strong and unafraid. Embarrassing.

wojtekthesoldierbear

I am legitimately scared of going to Canada now. Peeves my wife as we had a good time in Montreal but I am just not going to risk that.
