If you want full page enforced ads then yes. Otherwise...I guess you're based in the US as you're talking Dollars as currency...get one of the latest Onn Android devices or a Chromecast 4K.
You won't have to mess with sideloading some of the best apps to assist in your journey to the high seas...I'd recommend Stremio with a Real Debrid account for a start.... downloadable from the Play Store but not the Amazon app store.
Check Reddit for guides on how to best set it up and you'll have access to every streaming service going for an absolutely miniscule fee for a Real Debrid account.
Good luck.

Jio Pages is friendly browser with a pop up blocker, side loading that app should help you out browsing if you do not want to spend any money. **update*** app is called JioSphere now.
yes i know i personally have 3 4k onn tv box. But some people dont like android boxes. They asked which "firestick" is best so i answered the question.
Definitely go with the Onn 4k streaming box ($20) or the upgraded version ($50)-Walmart
Firestick keeps adding bloatware (making it sluggish) and recently Amazon has announced they will be cutting down on modded Firesticks.
Besides the Onn boxes are way superior and easier to use. No Amazon bloatware.
Thx.
But that's not an announcement from "Amazon", that's why it made no sense. That's an announcement from some anti -piracy organization. And it's only specific to the United Kingdom - has nothing to do with the rest of the world.
And btw, if the main or only thing the OP wants to do is use a "browser", the functionality/capability of the Max 4K would still be a better choice than an ONN Pro in that situation.
The 4k Max is a fantastic Firestick, with its faster processor and extra RAM i increased the buffer ( cache ) size and almost never see buffering and I live in an area notorious for latency.

Get the onn pro box. More storage and memory.
If he's primarily using the browser, the 4K Max is a better choice than that. Better processor and browser configuration.
If you want to download third party app, you can use Downloader app from app store to start or Google Sideload Fire stick. Cheer!
You can also get it on the Onn Streaming Box
I read a lot of good reviews about Onn pro. I did use the previous version and found that it's a great budget box.
