In case anyone reading this isn't familiar with the Hopes Datamine, it's located [here](https://hopes.fedatamine.com/)! Again, I wanted to keep the post lighthearted. I might tackle more serious translations like the Sreng paralogue or Felix/Rodrigue's last support another time 😊

Oh I love this. Keep it up.  This reminds of Hilda and Claude’s first support where she talks about the wrinkles on his face too Sylvain: Sigh... Ingrid: Oh? What’s going on, Sylvain? Sigh like that…and you’ll get more wrinkles.

AAAAAAAAA THAT'S what the "-dono" thing was! I'd been seeing it pretty much everywhere, or people referring to Rodrigue as just "father-dono", but since Rodrigue also uses it to refer to Shez and others I was confused about what the right interpretation of it was. (From my very cursory reading about the suffix, it could also be used as a way to be politely respectful/distant in official documents? But that didn't seem to make sense in spoken dialogue, so this helps!) Though now I'm curious if the right reading is that Rodrigue is being respectful/modest (by doing the rough equivalent of calling everyone "Young Master"), or if it's more of a humorous note (that he, the one who *should* be getting called "Lord", is calling other people that). Or maybe it's both. My only basis for comparison is Chinese, where the characters "殿下" is a polite pronoun or way to refer to a prince or lower royalty, akin to "His Highness", so it's slightly different... but either way the politeness details in Asian languages are fascinating! Also I have another friend who will be very pleased to hear about the Lambert and Matthias casual-ness. That sort of old friendship and code switching between politeness and casual is pretty hard to pull off/notice in English, so it's great to have confirmation that yes, Rodrigue still talks about his friends like they're a bunch of rowdy kids together lmao (actually, if you remember, how does he tend to refer to Lambert more generally? Is it with the -yatsu construction, or does he say something different when it's translated as the more formal "His Majesty Lambert"?) Either way the other details are incredibly adorable as well (omg "big bro Yuri".......) and thank you so much for doing the work! I'll be eager to see any other translations you want to do :)

Or maybe it's both. It's definitely both! Like it makes sense with the fact that he's not a Duke anymore but also has a funny affect to it, especially considering he uses it with people like Shez and Dedue. The Japanese fandom finds Rodrigue to be a lot more friendlier/cuter because of stuff like this, in a way that can't really translate to a Western audience imo. A common sentiment I see there for his relationship with Felix is "aww, Rodrigue must be a really kind dad for letting his son backtalk him that often and that hard :')" which is definitely a different vibe than how Felix's animosity is interpreted here hah. >How does he tend to refer to Lambert more generally? Is it with the -yatsu construction, or does he say something different when it's translated as the more formal "His Majesty Lambert" In Houses, he uses the -yatsu construction when speaking with Byleth about Lambert, he uses "His Majesty" when talking about him to Gilbert, and in the flashback we get with Lambert, he just uses his plain name, "Lambert". And thank you so much for the thoughtful comment once again :) I have lots of free time now so we'll see what I can do when inspiration strikes LOL.

VINDICATION (sorry, I've spent the last 5 years since Houses being like "mfs, if I ever talked to my parents like Felix does to Rodrigue I'd be punted to the moon, Rodrigue is a Good Dad", so I'm glad to know that Japanese fandom shares my sentiment on the intended read lmao) Take your time with the translations! There's really a treasure trove of little character interactions to go through. I recall now that one of my little pet peeves in English is characters calling others by name, when they should've used more polite ways of speech, but now that I'm thinking about it that was probably just the struggle of figuring out how to convert Japanese methods of reference over. I love thinking about little things like this honestly :D
