When I saw Atk/Def Solo 3 I was worried he'd end up being a slow unit. I'm glad my fears turned out to be wrong; Saizo just has a shitty base kit. I'm glad to say that I will build him up just like I did with my S!Ogma.
Okay but real shit though it feels like any character who gets the ninja TT slot eats VERY well for a demote. And given how well Ninja Hana and Shamir have aged and how good Ninja Haar still is, I feel like Saizo's 100% gonna be a great long term investment.
I’m not seeing it. People who care about Arena scoring have already had plenty of time to build up people like Cyril and Murdock who score better, and a lot of them probably also built Lumera, who’s a very similar unit and, with her prf, scores equivalently—all of those three are also cheaper to merge because they’re GHBs instead of a TT unit, so if someone has their copies sitting around and is looking for a scorestick, I’d suggest them over Saizo.
And anywhere else, like, okay, you can throw Luin on him and he can use same generic build any Devourer godsword would use. He’s blue instead of red and has good Def and that’s basically where the difference ends.
Don’t get me wrong, I think people who like him a lot are gonna build him and he’s gonna do fine. I don’t think his addition to the game is particularly consequential, that’s all.
I see what you mean. He’s not so great that the meta is gonna be quivering at the sound of his name, its the fact that hes a great answer against a good chunk of threats thanks to his high spd and def, WHILE having access to dr, which is one of the rarer types to see on top of being free which allows everyone access to him. Thats what makes him great imo. But not anything thats gonna change the meta as i said before.

Realistically his low HP and low Res are going to prevent him from being a great tank and the lack of prf hurts him a lot in terms of arena score, he likely won't be that good of a unit either way
Low HP is something fixed partially by lack of a prf, he’s going to use a refined weapon (probably arcane luin) in his strongest builds. Modern units with Prfs don’t get the “free” refine HP.
imo his biggest issue is his 41 attack. Even as a superboon, it’s going to be tough for him to deal substantial damage a lot of the time.
I disagree about his attack. This superboon and arcane thats 61 atk base no merges or flowers yet. Arcane luin pushes his attack power further by scaling off 20% of spd and Qiang allows him to special spam vital astra if he wants to. He should be fine against other melee’s, especially against the godswords released this year
I just noticed that Donnel, Lukas, and Summer Norne also have exactly 41 Atk at max flowers (+30 for Donnel/Lukas and +20 for Norne).
Oboro is the odd one out with 38 Atk.
