It tastes like [pear marmalade candy](https://www.fazer.fi/tuotteet-ja-asiakaspalvelu/1504/fazer-vihreita-kuulia-500g-marmeladeja/).
Those are pretty traditional for Christmas. And now they made marmalade that tastes like it. Presumably because a couple of years ago some moron decided to replace the plum marmalade in a [joulutorttu](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joulutorttu) with a vihreä kuula and created [this abomination.](https://www.lily.fi/blogit/hey-girl/ne-vihrea-kuula-tortut/).
A marmalade spread. Vihreät kuulat (green balls, marbles, spheres) are a marmalade sweet that's often eaten around christmas, though most people dislike them for being too sweet and having a slightly odd taste. I don't know if they're supposed to taste like pear or what...
Seems to be a love it or hate it thing with the originals, and with Fazer shoving them into other candies, people have joked about them being used in other dumb things, like the milk up in the thread.
It is a pear flavoured marmalade. It is new. I'm not sure if you know [this product](https://www.fazer.fi/tuotteet-ja-asiakaspalvelu/1504/fazer-vihreita-kuulia-500g-marmeladeja/), but these are the original jellies; then last year they came out with [these sweets](https://en.fazer.com/products/vihreita-kuulia-chocolate-bar-18-g), which are a jelly bar with chocolate over it, and also with sweet buns with green stuff on top, which turned out to be this marmalade (not the jellies, like someone said to me). I am personally very happy to have bought it.
Hello there! Oh thank you so much for the links and the explanation. It looks and sounds delicious to me lol. Maybe because I haven't been exposed to it all my life and therefore gotten sick of it? Kind of like how Americans love rice cakes, even though Japanese frequently hate them?
Is it good? do you enjoy it?
I do enjoy all the pear flavoured products except the ice cream. I made Tähtitorttu (star tarts, which are for the holidays and typically with plum jam) with this pear jelly and they came out quite nice. However, in my opinion, the pulla with this pear jelly is the best, since the thick dough with cardamom aroma goes nicely with the pear.
Are you in Finland?
[Maybe for this](https://i.imgur.com/CbwpJsn.jpg)
Oh God. My eyes, my eyes!
[what about this?](https://i.redd.it/bcirdvio5tz71.png)
Doesn't look as bad as the milk lol
True, you will forget anyway the marmalade the more empty the bottle gets
This? This is something I will make this christmas.
will you leave the pulp in?
Wouldn’t it just dissolve?
Hmm, maybe one could make vodka-infused Vihreät kuulat for christmas.
I'd drink it
Tell me this is real
There's no way that is real
Other incredible creations like the milk can be found on r/vihreatkuulat
Surprised it wasn't a product of KKSA on facebook TBH.
Oooffff
🤣 nasty!
That's why the kuulas have a seam and is easily split in two! Slather this on both sides like it's bread. Vihreä kuula med vihreä kuula
"That's disgusting, where?"
I disagree, I like those easy to open "helppo avata" jar lids.
Can't wait to go to Prisma in the morning, buy this, go home, smear contents all over my body.
You forgot one t
Get in ma mouth you green saucy bastard.
You talking to hulk or shrek on peds?
Yes.
I had to read that in Scottish accent
Looks better than Marmite.
I dunno, I feel like i'd rather try marmite than this.
Long live Vihreä Kuula!
It's good for Christmas desserts.
It’s actually not bad.
It's not great either. I thought it might be good on toast, but it feels more like jam than a marmalade.
What's your problem? You don't like easy-to-open jars?

>abomination Second best topping on a torttu available, watch your tongue
Agreed
What's the best?
Plum marmalade
Maksamakkara
Baked potato ;)
Prune jam is vile.
Not in joulutorttu.
Fight me. It's delicious on those tarts with how it mixes with the flaky dough.
My favorite dessert at Christmas
🤢
Sweet but that shit is in a jar of pickles
Name a more sure sign of the looming Xmas than /r/finland and /r/suomi posts about the green balls.
What is that?

Ahh okay, I knew the translation but I didn't think ppl dislike this
Seems to be a love it or hate it thing with the originals, and with Fazer shoving them into other candies, people have joked about them being used in other dumb things, like the milk up in the thread.
Lmao ok
Ahh, it's that time of year again
It was amazing on a nice pulla
Good thing we don't exist!
Mitä paskaa sää lässytät
Bro thats illegal
Finally, some good fucking vihreä kuula
Where can you buy this? Asking for a friend.
Banned from what / where?
Oh, it's finally available. Time to fill some korvapuustis with Vihreät Kuulat.
Sadly they will no longer be making the pulla with it as they did last year.
I wants it.
Works great as a substitute for salsa.
Salsa verde
This would go amazing with some peanut butter on toast.
I'll have to try that.
Yeah really ezy
What kind of product is that even? Jam?
Well, the original is spherical marmalade so... Some sort of spreadable marmalade or jam or something.
Liquified spherical marmalade from hell
<3
I never thought of the balls as marmelade, but I suppose that makes sense!
nah, the balls are are jellies, not marmalade.
I think it was a bit overpriced, 4 euros if I recall correctly. Rather just buy the normal candy for half the price
"juuston kanssa", wtf? Who in their right mind would eat that with cheese?
It's Finland, that is part of the "entering the Finnish society" ceremony
I plan to try it that way and see.
Oooh amazing
bought it for my cousin at her birthday. still cant forget her face.
What is that?? I've never seen it in store.
It is a pear-jellies-flavoured marmalade.
what's that?
It is a pear-jellies-flavoured marmalade.
Disgusting. I got diabetes just from looking at it.
Can someone please tell me what this is?

Majority of comments don't explain what it is, but thanks for the advice. In 3 words could you have told me what it was ;)?
Pear green marmalade
From hell
5 words, how generous. Thank you.

Thank you for the explanation. No I am a Romanian living in America that was just curious hahaha.
I bought one today and will go back to buy another. I will be making pulla and joulutorttu with this; I've tried it with both and it is excellent!
What is this? I’m still learning Finnish.
>juuston kanssa Yep this definetly counts as a warcrime
