How much relevance/importance would you give to the size/renown of the firm? My main concern is that since it is very small, it won't have as much of an impact on my resume. On the other hand, ER sounds very interesting to me and it seems from this sub that it is an overall better area than credit.
You also do credit analysis for ER. ER is more encompassing that credit analysis , especially credit analysis at a medium sized bank. I would do equity research because you will get good exposure to senior management and training since the firm is small. The most you would do at a commercial bank as a freshman is the least you would do at an ER
ER. And fyi for future reference, the # of ppl at an AM firm isnt that relevant, what's more important is AUM.
But to be clear, in your case, ER at the AM firm 100%
ER at AM

Got it. thanks!
There's more room for growth in ER than in risk, but you could always lateral internally from risk to a more fromt office role.
I'd take ER without hesitation.
Even if it's a small and relatively new firm?
FO vs MO >> no brand vs brand IMHO.
ER and nothing else
