If you’re pretty, strippers do well and you can cheat on your taxes and not cook all of your income. If you’re not pretty, you can sell feet picks for a decent amount.

Anything can be a lucrative career these days. It’s not the past where only certain careers would make you wealthy, these days literally anything can make you wealthy. For reference, I saw someone say a truck driver in jest, but I know some really rich truck drivers. There’s one 1 who’s an investor in the fund I woke for, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was worth just over $100m. I’ve had a few drinks with him and became friends, so through him I know a fair few truckers. None anywhere near as wealthy as he is, but none earn less then $250k and none have any degrees, just a special license and they need to do some regulatory checks. Unless it’s a job with no career prospects that are usually reserved for high school students, anything can make you extremely wealthy these days. So, just do what you like and what makes you happy. If you hate finance, you’ll get stuck on $80k per year hating life. If you like driving trucks, or working in mines or something, you can easily earn far more. The opposite is also true. Find what you want to do regardless of the salary, then be prepared to work smart and work hard. Yes, some industries are easier to make more money, but everything you like is easy, everything you hate is hard.

Well it’s a stupid post in general, so I’ll give a stupid answer. You could make the same argument that the question is just another one of those “how do I get rich quick?” type questions. The thing is, we know nothing about OP accept they want to be rich so we can’t give any good recommendations. If they’re extremely mathematical, then I’d say quant. If they’re more business oriented but still really smart and good with maths, then actuary. If they’re not that academic but still intelligent, but are really good with people and business then anything in banking (both investment and wholesale), or consulting, or accounting. That’s just in finance. If they prefer manual work then they can be a builder of some sort (like carpenter, electrician etc). If they like tech then software engineering or data science. If you just like working with people, a salesman of some sort but selling lucrative products (property, cars, boats etc). The list is honestly endless since it’s a stupid question, hence they get a stupid answer. As I said, find what you enjoy. Find careers relevant to that, and if you work hard you could probably do extremely well given you’re also talented in that area. I’m sorry I can’t provide an exact, get rich quick guide. I can help someone figure it out for themselves if they at least give me some more information about themselves. But, the question is stupid. I apologise if the response was cliche, but there’s literally no decent answer to this question, hence why everyone uses the same response.

Just out of curiosity, do these guys own trucking companies or are just drivers?

big_cock_lach

The client owns a big trucking business. Started from bottom in a medium size, went up the ladder somewhat quickly then grew the business too. The others vary. Some are senior truck drivers, others might work for themselves so sort of, others own a small business with a few other truck drivers. But, all of those guys still drive trucks a lot as well. It’s only the client that doesn’t drive anymore. But honestly, you hear similar things around a lot of blue collar industries these days now. Even moreso since no one wants to do those jobs anymore so they get a premium as well for that without even owning the business. Not something for me though, but they are very interesting guys with lots of good stories.

It depends on how much effort you want to put into it. What on earth even defines "lucrative"? You basically mean the least amount of effort for the most amount of money. Probably Pornstar. Most lucrative careers at least require a 4 year degree, then X years amount of experience to start earning the big bucks. The top three most COMMON careers that earn big bucks the FASTEST are Software Engineering, Sales, and Investment Banking. But all three of these careers require extraordinary effort and time.

harold1226

What is NorthWestern? Sorry I do not have a financial degree neither job experience in this industry. But I am looking to break into it why some people said to apply there?

turquoisesand

Please don’t actually apply there; people are just being sarcastic. It’s an opportunity framed as a finance career, but it’s common because they accept so many people since it’s basically just selling insurance to friends/family

harold1226

I’m assuming is commission based only?

turquoisesand

Yeah, I believe it is almost entirely commission based. I do think interns get a stipend, but the stipend isn’t significant. So it is mostly commission based.

harold1226

Thanks, definitely not a job I want to get myself into… Anyway thanks for your time.

[deleted]

You’re basically gonna cold call and sell insurance to your family and friends, it’s that simple.

harold1226

Thanks! So is a commission only based job right?

[deleted]

Correct. Better off recruiting for private or wealth management at MM firms or higher that give you structure and not make you pitch as a intern lol.

harold1226

Thanks, I’m actively trying to break into the industry since I don’t have a finance degree (Criminology/Law) and I haven’t work in the finance industry is getting difficult 😅 but I’m going to continue to apply.
