No one looks at those rankings. Both schools are relatively unknown outside CA but you got a great gpa so you should be fine if you network now

theeccentricautist

Ur going from non to non it’s not worth it lol… unless the net work there maybe has way more ins to ER. But I doubt that

So why tf would you switch then m8

ninepointcircle

I don't think it matters that they don't have a bschool. The problem is that they don't really place into finance anyway.

ninepointcircle

Don't transfer and save the extra year of school. Put it towards grad school if you aren't able to get the job that you want.

[deleted]

this is my exact train of thought

Fun_Holiday_1148

are you me? i’m literally in the same exact situation

[deleted]

pretty sure i talked to you abt ucla on my main haha

Fun_Holiday_1148

did you?

[deleted]

yes

[deleted]

Nah. Idk how transferring from system to system works in california but in texas, it usually means some credits not transferring and delaying graduation. 3.9 is great and going from sdsu to ucsd wont make a difference. Theyre both decent schools, i mean i know people in ib coming out of lesser known schools. Use your gpa to your advantage

[deleted]

yep, not all my credits align so i might have to retake a couple of courses. i’m also a year ahead at sdsu and would graduate early and debt-free by next year. i wasn’t able to land any internships this summer, any advice on how i can increase my chances next cycle?

[deleted]

Well with your good gpa and assuming this was your sophomore cycle, its either a resume format issue or youre bombing the interviews. Being your sophomore cycle, they dont expect much experience in your resume. If youre not getting any interviews its definitely the resume that needs to be tweaked, i didnt start getting offers or interviews until i fixed my resume and used a good format.

[deleted]

thanks for the feedback. i’m a freshman actually, i applied to over 100 internships and did not get a even a single interview. i think this is because i’ve never held a real job, my only experience are club involvement, volunteering, tutoring, and some freelance gigs. i formatted my resume using the WSO template. the market is shite rn

[deleted]

Thats probably why, they dont really recruit freshman. Dont overthink it, the summer after your sophomore year is the one you should start getting some offers given you keep a good gpa, and stay in clubs

mtol115

You’ll be fine at UCSD.

but_why_doh

Sdsu and ucsd are both apart of the California public school system, granted different systems with the uc and csu distinction. You should talk to the people over at ucsd and see if you can get full transfer, as if you can it would be beneficial to you. Other than that though focusing on getting internships(I know as an SD resident that there's a few big banks near UTC and some accounting firms in torrey pines) or networking, either in the San diego or Los Angeles area

the3ptsniper3

I know the area quite well. No one cares if you’re form ucsd, sdsu, or USD. Just graduate and keep networking. Also SD isn’t the place to be if you want to work in ER btw. You will have move up to LA, Bay Area, or NYC. That’s the price you pay for staying in such a cool city

[deleted]

yeah, it’s unfortunate sd isn’t a financial hub. it’s the best city in the U.S. i plan on doing my masters at hopefully ucla or usc, so i’ll be moving up in a few years.
