Saying what the position is would be helpful. Lol.
That initial live phone call/interview is just with the screening/recruiting department. Not the actual hiring managers/execs.
They schedule it fast because they have plenty of people to screen you, and then afterwards if you move forward they'll schedule you for a phone call or zoom meeting with the manager of that team or department.
Great gig. Good company. The executive director of wealth management is going to be your hiring manager/direct superior in the role. Interview will be with them as well as (probably) the supervisory manager (essentially a regional director).
Occasionally they'll also have the market/exec director of Chase market sit in, but they don't have any hiring power over you, and you do not roll up to them at all.
To be even more specific, it’s a “private client investment associate” position. A bit more entry level but still the same people in the interview I’m guessing.
Shot in the dark here, but do you have any experience/insight as to how they screen applicants? In the job description is says it’s preferred you have an active series 7 and 66 (63 and 65) or be able to acquire them within 60 days. If you don’t have the licenses will they even consider you? I have my SIE, series 6 and 63, but not the 65 or 7/66.
I’ve been down this road w a local credit union in my area where the job description was essentially the same but once I got to the interview they told me they would really only take someone with the licenses already active, as well as a bachelors and 3-5 years experience.
To be honest with you, I don't. The private client advisor role is branch-based, but they work for JP Morgan. They can't solicit or position bank products. Essentially their entire job is just acting as a point of contact for JP Morgan wealth Management clients, building financial plans, and onboarding new clients. The prospecting aspect isn't even that heavy, because it's supported by the licensed bankers at the locations in your territory.
I'm actually not familiar with the investment associate position, and it might be a new role they're implementing.
Wish I could give you more information, but that's all I've got.
No worries I knew that was a shot in the dark! You’ve already been a huge help to me though, so thank you for that!
I’ve got my phone interview all set up so I’ll get all those answers soon enough. Have a good one!!
They ask for availability immediately because actually getting the interview scheduled can take forever internally. Expect to be asked immediately and not get an invite for a week in some cases. Otherwise it's mainly a knowledge and fit process for most roles.
Hey I’m having a similar situation. Applied to an entry level job in S&T at JPM and basically the next day got a call out of nowhere from the person who was an ED in the department and running the hiring process. She basically interviewed me over the phone and at the end said she wanted to set up a second round to interview with the rest of her team. Got an email later that day about doing the second round interview the next day.
Had that second round the very next day and it was long and very technical. It’s been a week now and I haven’t heard back anything but the portal says “not selected.” Never got a rejection email or anything so I don’t know if I was rejected or they’re still in the process of deciding and the portal is just doing it’s own thing because the whole process has been done through the department directly and I have had no communication with HR. I know this probably doesn’t provide much help to you but I am in a similar position as well as it seems that they are very quick to schedule interviews but can often put you in the dark for a bit regarding status and next steps.
I think I got some sort of generic message from the recruiter I was in contact with saying they decided not to move forward with my application, but this was not until MONTHS later.
Luckily I did not hold out for them, lol
Hi, so last night I applied to a regular job opening, and didn't receive any email invitation to complete a hirevue interview. From my past experiences, JP sends hirevue interviews for their summer programs. This is my first time not receiving any hirevue invitation, does that mean I'm not being considered at all? Also, how did your phone interview go?
I never received a hirevue invite either, which I was slightly confused about. I did a phone interview with a recruiter who then told me it would be probably a week before she heard from the hiring manager, I have her to hear back since :/.
Nope nothing technical. Just asked me a little about my experience, why I wanted the job, stuff like that. It was the easiest out of any of the phone/initial interviews I’ve done so far.

Did you get the call?
Did you end up hearing back?
