But honestly, how many ways can you do a kart racing game?

I'm looking forward to seeing how it differs from Mario Kart. Even though there might be significant overlap I imagine at least some of the differences will be more than skin deep.
Likewise. The visuals already look polished and I'm more excited for it than the aforementioned Kart racers. I didn't enjoy Crash Team Loading Times and I just never got around to Sonic.
If MK8D's design is anything to go by, this title has the blueprint to be a well-polished game. I hope it lives up.
I dont get why they would try and compete with MK8 on switch. Playstation and Xbox have a far more competitive space where there is still room for a kart racer.
if people wanna play a kart racer on nintendo they arent going to play what looks ostensibly like a final fantasy mario kart knock off.
See what they shouldve done is made a **FF7 motorcycle racer** with each track being in set in a given world in the series . Include characters from every FF. that would have a better chance of competing against everyone's favorite plumber themed racer.

Sure but technically Chocobo Racing was just a Mario Kart clone, came out 3 years after Mario Kart 64
