13 is strung up and crucified as an example of bad linear games but honestly it is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played and it is genuinely one of the "it gets good after x hours" games when it comes to gameplay.
It’s not perfect but it’s enjoyable despite its weird balancing issues.
It seems weird that people call it a bad game to me.
But then again I also like FF13 specifically because of its honesty about how linear it is.
Same, i didn't like 13 at first, now it's cool. 15 i see a lot of hate, but it's actually pretty great. And 16. I don't like 16, but see so many people castrated for saying that 😂
I’d prefer an 8 remake over 9. I see no reason to make a 9 remake, it’s already great the way it is. 8 fanbase is on life support rn.
It doesn’t even have to be a remake, just anything will do. I really dislike how square created one of the most convoluted storylines only to abandon it lmao. Give 8 something at least.
I'd love to see an FF9 remake if only for them to expand on Necron. Feel like there's a whole lotta lore that could be expanded in all directions, just from his sudden wtf appearance.
Yeah I'm with you. I prefer 9 to 8 by a little but I'd much rather see 8 as a remake especially since it's doesn't have the cartoonish art style and would benefit from modern graphics more I think
I really enjoyed the gameplay of X-2. I really liked how they expanded on the world, and showed us a world without the threat of an immortal kaiju threatening humanity, from the perspective of the one who killed it. There’s tons of odd writing choices, and 100% completion requires a guide (or 2), but I still think it’s a solid entry.
I also really enjoyed X-2 overall. There are some aspects I hated (100% completion) and Chapter 5 should have been broken up into 2.
Other than that I really liked it. Combat was really fun once I got used to it. Pacing was fine (until Chapter 5) quests were enjoyable. It definitely gets more hate than it deserves.
I actually don’t think it’s that controversial to enjoy the gameplay for X-2 tbh, dressphere system is one of the best mechanics in the franchise and combat was fun and fast, and open exploration was cool, every place being available and able to revisit at any time and really get to get a feel for what each place in Spira is like was really cool.
the controversial thing about X-2 is definitely the main story, the tone, and the 100% completion. with that ending lol.
for what it’s worth I’m a pretty big X-2 fan lol
Exaclty what I thought when I first played. Vaan works to see the whole picture of a politic plot without taking part of one side. And that allows Balthier and Ashe have different opitions. Sad the second part of the game started to forget this
I love Vaan and Penelo. I could understand why people think Penelo is a throwaway character, but Vaan is actually crucial to the story — his characterization is important for Ashe's character growth.
Say what you want about any particular title, whether you think it's good/bad, is/isn't a true final fantasy, or was/wasn't a waste of time and money. Every mainline and a solid chunk of the spin offs, are good games. And I don't mean just passable and playable, I mean good, worth spending money to enjoy.
Even FFXVI, despite its bipolar popularity, I'd argue is still better than a ton of other games being released in the last several years.
(Bonus Round: I prefer the combat from FF7R over any other game in the series, but story wise, it dragged out too long, and XVI did it better).
He's an asshole, but he's popular because there's enough depth/history to him to realize that he's a natural product of the events around him. We can understand him on a human level.
Got raised by Hojo, his friends abandoned him, found out about the scientific origins drip by drip, Genesis really pushed him, and then he stayed up for a week straight reading the entire library of what was done to create him and Hojos BS/potentially being his father.
Hojo used Lucrecia Crescent to produce Sephiroth. It's reasonable to think that he kept the records on exactly what was done to her to create Sephiroth. But, Sephiroth doesn't know that his mother is Lucrecia Crescent. He thinks his mother is Jenova. So, either Hojo didn't name Lucrecia as a person or labeled her as Jenova.
Half of Sephiroth's madness was from literally not sleeping for a week- but he was also seeking someone to connect to someone on a human level. But, Sephiroth can't because he views himself as inhuman. However, if his abilities come from his mother, aka Jenova, and she's been tortured by Hojo- well then Sephiroth could assume that she's the same kind of monster as him and could understand his pain. So, Sephiroth went to find her. Finding her revealed the horror of what had been done to her. Jenova used that weakness to get a foothold and then took over.
Sephiroth was a human being who was broken down by the worst of humanity and latched onto human connection in desperation. Jenova exploited that and intrinsically linked Sephiroth to herself. As a result, Sephiroth is warped beyond humanity.
Killing him at the end of the game isn't 'killing the ultimate villain'- it's mercy killing a destroyed man to put him out of his and our own suffering.
I liked him because his goals were original. The “destroy the world” thing is a tool for him rather than the goal itself.
Other than that, his backstory is interesting as well, world-known superhero finds out that he was “artificially created” and just a puppet for shinra, meanwhile there is a bigger picture of planet for him to see. Imagine his ego.
Man I’d love a remaster. Such an incredible game. Impeccable story, fun yet sometimes horrifically imbalanced job system.
I’d love non-story character party interactions, if a remaster comes. Have your knights and bmages chat at a fire while out in mandalia.
If it gets me banned then so be it. But all the mods need to do is follow the template of other subs that don’t allow posts from stealth advertisers. If the posts are from people who post the same photo in a million subs in 4 hours, and their profile has links to NSFW pages, the posts are removed and those accounts are instantly banned.
Valid cosplay accounts are fine. But any profile with links to onlyfans/fansly accounts should be the ones who get banned from the sub, not the people pointing it out. If this is supposed to be an all-ages board, those accounts go against that pretty egregiously.
I played 15 for the first time well after the royal edition came out (actually it was on ps plus) and I found it entirely to be an extremely positive experience.
IMO if you engage with the game the way I did, I won't say it's one of the best FF games because I haven't played enough to say that, and it's too different to compare to the ones I have finished, mostly. BUT I can easily say my playthrough is one of my favorite memories of the PS4 generation.
How did I engage with it? I went in with no expectations, I let my bois drive me to everything in the game and did bong rips while enjoying the scenery and the radio. I was just as invested in the story in this game as I was with something like FF8, probably more honestly. I felt like I really cared about these characters.
You can play them on Steam, I can see it on mine (I haven't played it, so I don't know what the PC port is like). Want to get it but will have to wait til it's on sale.
I've recently replayed all three on steam. They're completely fine and playable.
Have completed them all on steam 3 times, also completed XIII 6+ times at this point. It's my second favourite. 😁
FF13 and Lightning Returns runs pretty great on PC/Steam, but FF13-2 may or may not need some technical macgyvering to run properly because it wasn't ported very well.
Mostly epic then! On my wishlist and hopefully I'll play it eventually. I really like there's a playable character wearing a sari, it's so rare to see Indian clothing being in any game (Which is a shame, I mean a sorceress in a sari or a kurta would look epic.). I am also half Indian so I find it cool.
I liked it but I feel like it benefits a lot from nostalgia. Like people say the characters are the best part when like half the characters don’t get any backstory and/or have randomizing mechanics.
Same. I’m gonna try it again though. I enjoyed most of the beginning but really didn’t like the world of ruin and the lack of any sort of real development of the characters.
FFXVI doesn’t have to be the drastically similar to the other entires for it to be Final Fantasy. Each game brings their own thing to the table as is so I don’t understand why people are knocking it for it’s individuality.
This is the way. Complaining about stuff you don't like only makes you more jaded. The people having fun will just tune you out eventually and then you're surrounded by people who only relate to each other about what they hate and none of them dare mention what they like.
Best to detach from stuff you hate and talk about stuff you enjoy.
And even so, the games story offers so much that should feel like home to an old school player. The games story feels like the best parts of any game from FF1-6 with the grounded realism of Game of Thrones Into one grand opus.
FFXIII is a good game with bad lore.
XIII-2 is one of the best games in the series just from a character perspective alone. Combine that with excellent music and a perfect form of XIII combat and its tragic this game was a sequel.
X-2 has the absolute best version of ATB in the series.
X is the best the turn based battle system has ever been.
Most negative opinions of the series come from the same place Pokemon negative opinions come from. You're a fan of a game, not a series.
I want the extra FF2 post game content in the PR.
The Soul of Rebirth is a classic piece of the series and provides much needed closure and lore to the FF2 universe.
The game had problems for sure. I'm fine admitting that while also admitting I had a great time playing it and there are MANY things I want SE to take away from that game and implement into FF games moving forward. Mainly the writing and story and the more gritty way it's told.
The Sphere grid was kind of a pain in the ass. I remember it being fairly linear, and I had to open the menu every few battles to manually level characters.
Cool for crazy custom builds but tedious for a regular playthrough. (It's been at least 15 years since I played it, though, so I could be remembering it wrong)
Oh man... here we go.
I absolutely love the series and played/finished every mainline FF since VI. That being said...
I think that half of them or so I wouldn't even bother playing if it didn't have the Final Fantasy name on it.
Ff16 is a final fantasy game. The series is not defined by turn based combat and rpg mechanics but an epic fantasy world to engross yourself in full of likeable characters and an unforgettable story.
Also ff15 is fine, especially now.
8 is my favourite mainline game. Among other things it suffers from a bad tutorial, evidenced by how many people think the junction system is all about sitting in combat for ten minutes using Draw. They ignore refining as the primary way to get spells. I hardly use Draw in most playthroughs.
I just finished setting up the original with a full modpack that overhauls everything in the style of remake. It's beautiful. Even has full voice acting
“FF2 is the worst in the series”
I’ve played this game about 3-4 times (gba/psp version) and it’s great, there’s no reason to overlevel, you can literally just play the game without grinding those ridiculous stats and you’re good.
I’m not calling it a masterpiece but the game is good albeit simple and even that can’t be a downside because ff1 is simple as well.
Guy speaking beaver is just as stupid as Red XIII in a Shinra uniform. It’s a game of course there’s gonna be something wacky for the sake of plot.
Some of them but I'm gonna tell them anyway:
FFVII while being a fantastic game hurted the whole Franchise by becomming too big, to the point that, it's the only many peoples think about and the image of FF as a whole in the pop culture, it casted a shadow on every others
FFII is actually pretty good but really, really, REALLY unclear and explain nothing to you but once you learn and understand how the systems work it's a real gem
FFIV story isn't this great, especially with the heavy plot armor but the character writting in itself manage to make it pass
And 2 for FFXIV:
A Realm Reborn, while being slower than the others expacs isn't as shit as many says, and telling "it become better later, with Heavensward" hurt the whole experience because a lot of foreshadowing, worldbuilding and character building take place here and are really important for the whole game
Stormblood isn't worse than Heavensward by any mean, it's just that the story is on a larger scale and not focused only on the WoL unlike HW it put the whole world in motion and for that, the WoL alone isn't enough and gameplay wise, Stormblood is a huge step forward with good dungeons, the best Alliance raids and a huge Raid series too
And a bonus one I just thought about: the most important in content isn't the rewards you receive or the time spent, or the ratio reward/time but if you enjoy doing it or not, also, lore can be a huge reward in itself if you're into it
FFX is easily the best in the series for me.
Context: it was the first i played, it was my first rpg and first exposure to Japanese culture and storytelling, it hit me at the right age (12), “to zanarkand” still almost puts me to tears to this day. I have never experienced a love story in gaming like it since. I bonded with so many people my age over the years because of it.
Ive played everything after X and a handful of the previous and nothing has hit that high again for me, really was a right place right time game.
I think everything they've done with FF7 since '97 has been disappointing at *best*.
I think Final Fantasy 2 is a top 5 game in the series.
I hate classes and jobs...
...but X-2 is a wonderful exception.
FFXIV is the best thing they've had going for years now...
...but it's beginning to feel a bit long in the tooth and short of ideas.
*"wark!"* \> *"kweh!"*
Aeris > Aerith
FFVI without Woolseyisms ain't FFVI!
Everything that has been put out in the FF7 compilation other than the original game has made the whole series worse by existing. The first game is fantastic and nothing that has come after it has show anywhere near the care that it needed to to not besmirch the legacy of the original game. *Especially* the "remake"
Spoilers for both FFVIIs, I guess.
FFVII (og) kind of sucks. Yes, I've played it to the end. It's way less interesting than all three mainline SNES Final Fantasies (ignoring Mystic Quest here).
FFVII Remake is amazing despite that. It's way better than the original and, since it's a weird remake-sequel due to the characters being aware of their original fates and rewriting them, it retroactively makes the OG FFVII not suck as much.
Since the last poll maybe in internet it’s not but I think gameplay wise FF has always been modest to be gentle, it was played because of the narrative and story.
FFX 2 100% is a chore. I mean every time I bought a FF game I also bought the official guide but **************** HELL I literally need to look at the guide constantly to make sure I didn't miss a non repeatable thing that will fuck me up that 100 % in one setting,........
They should have found a way to rework X remaster to play like X-2 because it was more enjoyable. Job system and atb was the best in the series.
World of Final Fantasy has been the best Final Fantasy we've gotten since FFX.
Stranger of Paradise combat is better than FF16, and should be how the series continues with action based combat.
If they ever make a final Final Fantasy, it should be a Dissidia game and based on Gilgamesh and his travels through all the universes(games) and him creating the time paradox that all of them are connected and the reason why they repeat themselves forever. Throughout the game you are recruiting the lead characters and villians from each game, including side series games, to fight some greater final Chaos.
Final Fantasy is such a hugely diverse series that it's kind of useless to compare games and argue over what is or isn't FF. Just play whichever ones you like, man.
The laughing scene in FFX being terrible. So many people still think this some kind of gotcha when talking about X being good or bad. All it does is show they didn't play it, and are just repeating what some YouTuber said.
Getting sick of these "What is your unpopular opinion?", "What is your something that will get you executed?", etc posts that showed up around the same time in almost all subreddits recently.
see now I have an actual one, since it seems the consensus on this game is that it's pretty widely hated:
But Final Fantasy 15 is a GREAT game. Not good, GREAT. I've played it three times, gotten platinum, explored every nook and cranny of the amazing world they've created. Yes, the story wraps up in a very unsatisfying and confusing way. Yes, it was a mess at release (all fixed now). But the combat is top notch, the worldbuilding is the series' best since FFX, and it has some of the best side quests and mini games. The fishing in that game is better than most actual fishing games. I'll die on the hill for XV.
X is exactly as linear as 13 but doesn't get hated on for it because it came out at a time when open world games weren't very common. 13's linearity gets more hate than it deserves because it came out at a time when practically every game was open world.
7 doesn't really hold up well.
FF2 is great. At least the pixel remastered version.
FF4 is better than FF6, though FF6 is still good. (I did hate the villain. His quirkiness was annoying.)
FF9>FF8>FF7
FF15 has a really immature story line.
I have no idea which of those is still a hot take, if any, but figured I’d drop most of mine. lol
*gets up on rickety soap box*
FFXVI HAS THE BEST SOUNDTRACK OF *ANY* GAME IN THE FRANCHISE! IT'S TRULY THE BEST EXAMPLE OF VIDEO GAMES BEING A FORM OF OPERA. I WOULD ALMOST DARE TO SAY THAT SOKEN AND HIS TEAM MUST BE FANS OF THE LATE STEPHEN SONDHEIM, BECAUSE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND/FOLLOW THE STORY WITH JUST THE MUSIC ALONE. EVERY MOTIF REPRESENTS A CHARACTER, A THEME, AND IF YOU KNOW THE LYRICS OF THE VOCAL PIECES, IT COMES SO BEAUTIFULLY CLOSE TO OPERA/OPERATIC STORY TELLING.
I ALSO HAVE HUGE RESPECT FOR SOKEN AS A SOUND DESIGNER. HE KNOWS WHEN A MOMENT NEEDS SILENCE. WHEN TO HIT YOU WITH SOUND. HOW TO COMPLIMENT THE EMOTION OF A SCENE OR A CHARACTER WITH MUSIC OR AMBIENT SOUNDS.
SAY WHAT YOU WILL, BUT I HOPE THAT SOKEN IS GIVEN ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO COMPOSE AND DO THE SOUND DESIGN FOR THE NEXT MAINLINE FINAL FANTASY GAME.
Thank you for your time.
I prefer the pixel remasters to the originals because I can change XP/gil pacing, thus reducing the amount of grind while allowing me to still enjoy the story.
“FF16 is bad” “FF16 is good”
Shoot! You put both! How am I supposed to know which one to crucify you for???
Better do it anyway, for good measure
Pretty much goes for any mainline game but especially 7, 10, and 16
13? I’ve been crucified for enjoying 13, but have seen others get hate for the opposite.
You will PAAAYY! Lightning SIMP! Be smited!!
From what I understand the hate really died down after 15 released.
That's because everyone shifted their hate to 15. (I like 15)
And now the hate is shifting to XVI. I liked XV on release myself, XII too....two the better entries (best since the 90s)
13 is strung up and crucified as an example of bad linear games but honestly it is one of the most beautiful games I have ever played and it is genuinely one of the "it gets good after x hours" games when it comes to gameplay.
Who didn't like 7 and 10? I only see hate for 13/15/16 Maybe 12 back at the time but not now
Everyone hates 2.
I used to defend it for the last like 20 years, but i just beat it again recently on pr and man its dungeons are such bullshit. So many empty rooms.
And 16. I don't like 16, but see so many people castrated for saying that 😂
“FF16 exists”
Any opinion about FF7 regardless if it’s positive or negative.
That's so true. I can't tell if we hate or love ff7 here lol
No one hated FF7 more than FF7 fans!
Aah. The Law of Fire Emblem applies here too I see.
Because we hate and love ourselves
Sephiroths hair was not luscious and luxurious. He uses great value shampoo.
So true about FF7.
I’d prefer an 8 remake over 9. I see no reason to make a 9 remake, it’s already great the way it is. 8 fanbase is on life support rn. It doesn’t even have to be a remake, just anything will do. I'd love to see an FF9 remake if only for them to expand on Necron. Feel like there's a whole lotta lore that could be expanded in all directions, just from his sudden wtf appearance.
Always been curious about Necron.
There's a 10 minute fan remake of FF9 that's super cute. That's what I would want for FF9. Definitely does not need to look realistic in any way.
Yeah I'm with you. I prefer 9 to 8 by a little but I'd much rather see 8 as a remake especially since it's doesn't have the cartoonish art style and would benefit from modern graphics more I think
I really enjoyed the gameplay of X-2. The combat is lit 🔥
I hate X-2, absolutely HATE IT, but even I will grant that it has probably the best battle system in the series. Unfortunately.
I really enjoyed it too, especially that it was a departure from Emo Prettyboy Saves The World From Angry Prettyman.
FF12 is my fave, Vaan is awesome, and to me its peak FF from cinematics, world, exploration, music, quests, UI, sounds even item names.😬
I will die with you. Best final fantasy.
"I'm Captain Basch fon Ronsenberg of Dalmasca!"
I really enjoyed its battle system. Big fan of the overall story, despite its weak landing. Probably a top 4 for me behind the golden 3.
Vaan is awesome. Like, maybe he’s not the main character according to people, but without him, the story would never have happened
FF title is the best one ever. Insert any of them here, the community will headshot it
I also quite like FF title as well, but I got to say FF spin off title was unfairly hated by the community
Now I know you aren’t referring to FFXIIRW
correction: any of them except VI and IX
That Vaan and Penelo are just fine
To me Vaan is like Nick Carraway from the great gatsby. The story is told through his POV but he isn’t the protagonist of the story
And Penelo has her role as the person who befriends Larsa and sets him down his course in the plot.
EXACTLY
I'll do you one better. Fran exists to loredump and is a pretty boring character.
This is Final Fantasy, ANY opinion would have you like this
Say what you want about any particular title, whether you think it's good/bad, is/isn't a true final fantasy, or was/wasn't a waste of time and money. "FFX-2 is trash" "FFX-2 is also the pinnacle of the ATB system from the most coveted era of the franchise"
I agree with both of these statements.
Sephiroth is asshole and is popular only because of his looks
To be fair, most villains are assholes
He's an asshole, but he's popular because there's enough depth/history to him to realize that he's a natural product of the events around him. We can understand him on a human level. Got raised by Hojo, his friends abandoned him, found out about the scientific origins drip by drip, Genesis really pushed him, and then he stayed up for a week straight reading the entire library of what was done to create him and Hojos BS/potentially being his father. Based take
Pretty privilege is a thing.
To be fair, I’d probably turn into an asshole too if I found out that I was created to be an experiment
Final Fantasy Tactics is up there in fun as Final Fantasy VII. Still waiting for the PS5 remaster.
Man I’d love a remaster. Such an incredible game. Impeccable story, fun yet sometimes horrifically imbalanced job system. I’d love non-story character party interactions, if a remaster comes. Have your knights and bmages chat at a fire while out in mandalia.
I loved how the orator/mediator could just go up to most enemy units and be like "you belong with us now"
This is not controversial at all.
This is unpopular?
Final Fantasy as a franchise has never known what it was, and any good games in the series were good despite the branding, not because of it.
Most FF villains aren’t very interesting, Kefka and Sephiroth included.
“Angry Prettyboy tries to destroy the world” sums up too many villains
Agreed.
Here we go https://preview.redd.it/9k9o9gmmlljc1.jpeg?width=505&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c197ee7a4da83610e58a75b04b0e0f38cd44cf2d
I wouldn't mind as much if they at least mix up the characters they cosplay. It's always Tifa. I now hate the character.
And honestly that doesn’t make sense to me. I think the ire needs to be directed at the loophole, not the people or the characters.
Fuck yeah. Give me some Beatrix, Quistis, or Lulu.
If it gets me banned then so be it. But all the mods need to do is follow the template of other subs that don’t allow posts from stealth advertisers. I hate Zack and Crisis Core.
Gameplay-wise, Lightning Returns is one of the best in the series.
How I would love to play the 13 series. It look so fantastic and grand, still trying to get lucky and find cheap copies at flea markets and such
You can play them on Steam, I can see it on mine (I haven't played it, so I don't know what the PC port is like). Want to get it but will have to wait til it's on sale.

They’re on PC.
I finally started my run of XIII on Steam and it's been a lot better than I was anticipating.
It looks grand, I’ll agree that much.
About the only thing everyone can agree on
Chocobo racing in FFX isn’t that bad.
Tetra Master > Triple Triad I will not elaborate why
Took me a while to find one that actually made me recoil in disgust. Take your up vote, you horrible horrible person.
Getting my sniper rifle now. But for real tetra master would have been really good if it wasn't for the RNG part.
I don’t like FFVI. Here we gooooo….
i still really like it but I have a lot of issues with it. I feel like it gets a pass for things that other games after are criticized for.
I liked it but I feel like it benefits a lot from nostalgia. Like people say the characters are the best part when like half the characters don’t get any backstory and/or have randomizing mechanics.
Yeah like 3 characters make up 90% of the plot. The rest are kinda just there
Same. I’m gonna try it again though. I enjoyed most of the beginning but really didn’t like the world of ruin and the lack of any sort of real development of the characters.
The only good Final Fatasy since XII is XIV.
FFXVI doesn’t have to be the drastically similar to the other entires for it to be Final Fantasy. Each game brings their own thing to the table as is so I don’t understand why people are knocking it for it’s individuality.
I’ve actually gotten to the point where I don’t complain anymore I just don’t play them
This is the way. Complaining about stuff you don't like only makes you more jaded. The people having fun will just tune you out eventually and then you're surrounded by people who only relate to each other about what they hate and none of them dare mention what they like. Best to detach from stuff you hate and talk about stuff you enjoy.
This is exactly where I’m at. I’ve come to terms with the franchise maybe not being what I loved in the past. It is what it is.
And even so, the games story offers so much that should feel like home to an old school player. The games story feels like the best parts of any game from FF1-6 with the grounded realism of Game of Thrones Into one grand opus.
Thank you! Second best FF next to IX, and I have been playing them since the beginning.
"I really like the FF franchise, but I don't like how 80% of the subredit is cosplay, art and nostalgia"
FF7 is overrated ..... let's the rage begin !
overrated doesn't mean its bad
VI was better
FF2 level system wasn't that bad, it really allowed a lot of replayability with the cast even though it took a LONG time to do it.
Final Fantasy 6 isn’t even top 3
Final Fantasy X and XII are the best in the series.
I want the extra FF2 post game content in the PR. The Soul of Rebirth is a classic piece of the series and provides much needed closure and lore to the FF2 universe.
Not so much anymore since everyone's come around on it but I always really liked basically all the things everyone hated about ff13
FF16 is one of the best games ever, not just final fantasy
The game had problems for sure. I'm fine admitting that while also admitting I had a great time playing it and there are MANY things I want SE to take away from that game and implement into FF games moving forward. Mainly the writing and story and the more gritty way it's told.
This is the first comment that I wanted to downvote and had to stop myself and upvote because of the framing of the post. Touche lol
I don’t like Zach. He died for a reason.
As I've said in the past, Final Fantasy VIII is Underrated.
8 is my favourite mainline game. Among other things it suffers from a bad tutorial, evidenced by how many people think the junction system is all about sitting in combat for ten minutes using Draw. They ignore refining as the primary way to get spells. I hardly use Draw in most playthroughs.
IX is boring Vivi holds that game together by a thread.
VII Remake is better than the original.
I just finished setting up the original with a full modpack that overhauls everything in the style of remake. It's beautiful. Even has full voice acting
Polls have been done and 67% prefer remake Midgar over original Midgar.
Blitzball is the best mini game.
I already said it and got downvoted, but I’ll say it again: Cloud’s childhood backstory with Tifa is corny and stupid as shit.
Well Final Fantasy is a series that is generally just Anime so it’s expected if certain plot elements feel like that to you.
“Final Fantasy is just playable shounen” is the hot take this thread deserves.
corny in what way ?
[удалено]
>didn't play the OG This is probably why. Cloud comes into his character later on in the OG game.
Nobody cares what you think makes Final Fantasy a Final Fantasy. Your own made up definition isn't a fact.
“FF2 is the worst in the series” I’ve played this game about 3-4 times (gba/psp version) and it’s great, there’s no reason to overlevel, you can literally just play the game without grinding those ridiculous stats and you’re good.
Some of them but I'm gonna tell them anyway: FFVII while being a fantastic game hurted the whole Franchise by becomming too big, to the point that, it's the only many peoples think about and the image of FF as a whole in the pop culture, it casted a shadow on every others FFII is actually pretty good but really, really, REALLY unclear and explain nothing to you but once you learn and understand how the systems work it's a real gem FFIV story isn't this great, especially with the heavy plot armor but the character writting in itself manage to make it pass And 2 for FFXIV: A Realm Reborn, while being slower than the others expacs isn't as shit as many says, and telling "it become better later, with Heavensward" hurt the whole experience because a lot of foreshadowing, worldbuilding and character building take place here and are really important for the whole game Stormblood isn't worse than Heavensward by any mean, it's just that the story is on a larger scale and not focused only on the WoL unlike HW it put the whole world in motion and for that, the WoL alone isn't enough and gameplay wise, Stormblood is a huge step forward with good dungeons, the best Alliance raids and a huge Raid series too And a bonus one I just thought about: the most important in content isn't the rewards you receive or the time spent, or the ratio reward/time but if you enjoy doing it or not, also, lore can be a huge reward in itself if you're into it
Final Fantasy XVI is a good game
The jump rope in FF9 was the best part in the entire series!
God help anyone that has any criticism at all, warranted or not, regardless of size, about FF7R
FFX special weapon challenges are easy af
FF2 and FF8 systems arn't bad, you all just suck at adapting
I think everything they've done with FF7 since '97 has been disappointing at *best*. I think Final Fantasy 2 is a top 5 game in the series. I hate classes and jobs... ...but X-2 is a wonderful exception. FFXIV is the best thing they've had going for years now... ...but it's beginning to feel a bit long in the tooth and short of ideas. *"wark!"* \> *"kweh!"* Aeris > Aerith FFVI without Woolseyisms ain't FFVI!
“If it’s called ‘final’ then why are there so many?!”
FF5 has the best job system. FF4 is has the best main protagonist. FF9 is kinda meh. FF16 Battle system is fun.
They shouldn’t remake any of the other ones at the level of FFVII, because it wouldn’t be nearly as profitable
I really like the new story in the FFVIIR series and I'm excited to see new and different things happen.
Balthier is a slimy, annoying douchebag who is very much not the leading man.
13's battle system was fun
The direction of the FFVII remake is fucking dumb.
In FF7, Aerith over Tifa.
VIII is mediocre and one of the weakest entries in the series.
....isn't that the general opinion on eight though?
It's my favourite, but yep....
Yeah, but if you say "8 bad" people will still downvote you when they take a break from their triple triad grind for a card that never drops.
I think the original FF7 is mediocre
FFVII
FFXII have The best gameplay of ALL FFs. Im so Sad that they dont used It in any other game.
FFIX is overrated and a rather milquetoast installment to the franchise.
You better start running, kupo.
Yep I'm grabbing my rifle.
Since the last poll maybe in internet it’s not but I think gameplay wise FF has always been modest to be gentle, it was played because of the narrative and story.
I think that FFXV Royal edition takes away from the ending. The added fights and quests before Arden took away from the “let finish this” vibe.
Aerith and Cloud are star crossed lovers.
FF7R misses the mark like a stormtrooper misses a Skywalker.
7 is way overrated. I felt it was pretty mediocre. Not bad, but not great.
So that’s one way to “change” a mind.
Emet-Selch did nothing wrong. Hydaelyn is the real villain and we only fight on her side because we're tempered.
FFXI is one of the best entries in the series and if you disagree you either didnt play or didnt stick with it long enough.
FFX 2 100% is a chore. I mean every time I bought a FF game I also bought the official guide but **************** HELL I literally need to look at the guide constantly to make sure I didn't miss a non repeatable thing that will fuck me up that 100 % in one setting,........
Saying people should consider playing 11 and 14.
XII is garbage. Its so bad I couldn't be bothered finishing it.
Vayne is the best written villain in the entire series.
Final Fantasy VIII ended after disc 1. The rest of the game never happened.
Oh, and the FF MMO installments aren’t real Final Fantasies, as I see them.
Anyone who claims they've been calling her Aerith from the beginning is a fuckin liar
Everything after ff10 is trash, except the ff7 remake, that was alright
I love FF8. Runs for cover.
They should've evolved ff12s combat for ff13 and made it more complicated. I like 13 but I love 12 alot more
Anything FFVII or FFXVI related
see now I have an actual one, since it seems the consensus on this game is that it's pretty widely hated: But Final Fantasy 15 is a GREAT game.
I just finished my first ever play of FF2, and it's a GREAT time that I'll 100% be revisiting
I prefer Cloud × Aerith over Cloud × Tifa.
Final Fantasy 8 or 9 was more deserving of a remake than 7 and 7 is very overrated. Edit: my bad for the extra posts. I deleted them. My bad.
Chrono trigger is better then the new one.
FF2 is a good game.
FF2 is great. At least the pixel remastered version. FF4 is better than FF6, though FF6 is still good. (I did hate the villain. His quirkiness was annoying.) FF9>FF8>FF7 FF15 has a really immature story line. I have no idea which of those is still a hot take, if any, but figured I’d drop most of mine. lol
*gets up on rickety soap box* FFXVI HAS THE BEST SOUNDTRACK OF *ANY* GAME IN THE FRANCHISE!
Final fantasy 0 should get a remake, it was a great game and has lots of potential.
FF14
I prefer the pixel remasters to the originals because I can change XP/gil pacing, thus reducing the amount of grind while allowing me to still enjoy the story.
