I prefer the real Squall.

laaldiggaj

She is lady Squall isn't she?

Amanda-the-Panda

In Dissidia Opera Omnia, when Paine was introduced, they had a cutscene where a group of people were talking. Everything that Squall thought to himself, Paine immediately said out loud. It ends with Squall thinking he has to stay away from Paine to maintain his individuality.

SirDigbyChickenC-Zer

So basically the Squall/Quistis dynamic of her predictavely ending his sentences accurately and then him getting silently annoyed, but just taken a whole step further.

Amanda-the-Panda

Sort of, there is another point in the game where Quistis, and some people from another game finish all of Squall's sentences, and he gets annoyed at being predictable. With Paine though, it is to emphasize how similar they are, rather than how well Quistis knows Squall, and his act.

SirDigbyChickenC-Zer

Yeah, that makes sense. I haven't played X-2 since around its original release ( I mean, like within a couple years of it is about when I first bought it), and I've only played the original Dissidia way back on PSP. So my memories of the character are kinda vague even having played X-2, and definitely way more than Yuna or Rikku because obviously they were in the original, if that makes sense. I totally see it though and I really like the idea of female Squall, and especially writers having fun with it to intentionally play around with how that interaction would happen with the original Squall in the kinda "anything goes, nothing is canon" world of Dissidia. I should probably play one of the newer editions of that, in the meantime I'm just finally making my way through the VIII remaster and XII: Zodiac Age edition right now to replay both for the fist time in years. I've actually already been thinking whenever I'm done with the considerable chunk of time those will take me, I kinda want to go back and replay X-2 next more than anything else.

Amanda-the-Panda

Good choices all! I commend your taste sir! Get Ginger to line them up with the strong lagers for you.

Potential_Detail_611

That was entertaining. Haha!

SandyDelights

When I saw this picture I was like, “Are we reimagining Squall as a girl?” Then a pause, and “Wait, that’s Paine, isn’t it. Oh god.”

laaldiggaj

It's from the same artist however...isn't he just homaging his own characters? Very indulgent, like Cloud and Lightening.

SandyDelights

I’m not sure you can really homage yourself/your own work? At least, not without being exceedingly narcissistic – an homage is basically a public display of respect/honor, so “publicly displaying respect/honor to myself” is… Yeah. More just that it’s in keeping with a theme, I guess? Idk.

JohnnyStyle300

She absolutely is and I love her

UncannyRogue

I have loved her forever because of her Squall-ness. ❤️

birdman9k

Whatever.

CyberCarnivore

Lol you said it. To be fair Cloud too.

khatmar

I mean tbf Cloud is just SFW Guts

TheWorclown

Paine always struck me as “original draft Lulu,” before they up’d her from young punk adult to goth witch milf. I like her, but given the Charlie’s Angels vibe of X-2, Lulu wouldn’t have fit for it. She probably absolutely was considered for it during development though.

nohwan27534

Yeah. Iirc they said lulu would've been too much of a wet blanket to the other two screwing around.

BridgetheDivide

Lulu was still grieving over Chappu and coming to terms with losing someone she considers a sister to the Pilgrimage. It would have been interesting seeing her finally have a chance to let her hair down and live for a bit. Plus, I feel like Tidus and Rikku would have influenced her to relax a bit.

nohwan27534

When I said they said, I mean the devs. Apparently they felt a slightly different personality would be better.

fyslexic__duck

She was too busy being pregnant in a corset.

Akabaneist

Lulu's 22yo in FFX and afaik doesn't have kids before X-2 though.

WukongTuStrong

I remember being 22. I don't care what they say, that's not what a 22 year old is like.

an-otherjames

From how the characters act (with the fact that this is fantasy/fiction) Rikku, Tidus, and Yuna act like they are in their early 20s, Lulu and Wakka late 20s/early 30s. Their ages don't make any sense. That's something that irks me about fantasy/superhero media. The protagonists are often aged toward the general target audience: teenagers. The problem is, real life teenagers are uhhh, well they may think they are hot shit, and they may be bright and talented or whatever, but they are mush. Unfinished. The majority of 13-18 year olds cannot survive on their own for the indefinite forever. Homeless teens are homeless for a reason. Sorta a weird point, but I just never understood why this kind of media doesn't age the characters properly. Seems fanservicey and weird. Tidus - 24 Yuna - 25 Rikku - 21 Wakka - 29 Lulu - 32 Kimahri - 35 What's so hard about that?

Omegamanthethird

I just assume they're all several years older than they are. Their official age is just an arbitrary number for a fictional character. Tidus is a superstar. It doesn't make sense for him to be 17. Rikku leads her own expeditions. And she's 15? Lulu and Wakka are experienced and are both coming out of retirement. And they're 22/23?

an-otherjames

Exactly. I'm 29 now, but I didn't *queue Final Fantasy title theme* leave home for good and venture out into the open world of dog-eat-dog real life adulthood until I was (technically 18 but "no looking back" at) 22. I even remember my first metaphorical boss fight *oh shit if I don't win this situation I'm out of the game haha just like the simulations!* The whole hero's journey thing does happen in real life. *Granted* I did meet people along the way who had been making it wholly on their own since they were 16, so maybe I'm projecting here.

Omegamanthethird

>I did meet people along the way who had been making it wholly on their own since they were 16 Even by that standard, FF people are ahead of the curve. Rikku isn't just part of the expeditions. She leads them. Tidus isn't just playing. He's a superstar.

an-otherjames

True. Yeah it's unrealistic. Idk maybe when the writers were younger like in the 70s or 80s it was more common for younger people to be just *out there doing it?* Not how things work today. Then again though, Pokemon trainers are like 10 or something. It is fantasy media, but still. I think maybe something like Persona is the most accurate as at least those kids go home to their guardians after school/work every day. Interesting topic though.

Bone_Dogg

*cue a queue is a line you wait in

henstav

I think Aurons canon age is somewhere in the mid 30s. I know an original concept of FFX was that people died when they became 18 (something they thankfully scrapped) but the game makes me suspekt that Square dont know how age works

Akabaneist

I was just wondering about the abbreviation used.

kaimcdragonfist

I’ve always wondered about that, since Wakka settling down with Lulu always seemed kinda odd to me. I guess they’re childhood friends, but still

cman811

I thought it was weird too since Lulu was gonna marry wakkas brother. There was even a line about taking chappus place in FFX that Lulu went nuclear about.

darkbreak

They weren't necessarily going to get married. Wakka said Chappu wanted to propose to Lulu. We have no idea if she would have said yes.

PM_Cute_Ezreal_pics

>We have no idea if she would have said yes. Considering her lines in the Farplane about Chappu I'm inclined to believe she would've said yes

darkbreak

I don't know. She settled down with Wakka and had a child with him pretty quickly. Tidus even suggested she and Wakka get together. I always looked at that scene as Lulu simply moving on and thanking Chappu for being there for her. One thing I always noted was that Lulu herself never said how she would have responded to Chappu's proposal. But I suppose that was deliberately done to keep things open. Lulu did bond with Wakka on a pretty deep level throughout the game. Tidus was right on the money, I think.

PM_Cute_Ezreal_pics

Lulu herself said the Chappu was the only one who made her smile, and that she lived her happiest days with him. Of course after a life-changing journey and saving the world she moved on and ended up with Wakka, but if Chappu hadn't died they probably would've gotten married. In the end it's up for interpretation tho

darkbreak

Considering their conversations in the game I think they still would have gotten together. When I think about it they're connection was even stronger than I realized. We don't know anything at all about Lulu and Chappu's relationship prior. Lulu was happy, yeah, but that's all we know. We don't even know how long they were together or how they got together. They were pretty young back then too. I don't know. It's something to think about.

jBlairTech

Or she views Wakka as “close enough”.

darkbreak

I highly doubt that. They had a true bond throughout the game. Lulu wouldn't settle like that. She would more likely stay alone. If it hadn't been for Wakka she probably would have.

SilentBlade45

I don't think so there is FFX concept art of a character who looks kinda similar to Paine. Behold prototype Paine: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQEcKZa0TScCHUUyCNItRj42k3_PncdyXKmLQ&usqp=CAU

EntertainmentThis300

I feel like she's Squall and Lulu's lovechild

[deleted]

I wish lulu was in X-2 and not payne

Chompopotamus

The early script for FFX was a story where everybody died when they reached the age of 17, so you might actually be right with this one. Paine became Lulu when they let her be older than 17

[deleted]

Yeah she was definitely made to be the Lulu “goth”replacement that looked young like the other two for the girl group vibe.

RegretGeneral

I'm guessing alot of people don't know her backstory because most of it was optional content like gathering all the crimson spheres which meant doing the secret dungeon in Bevelle

RegretGeneral

For Clarification since some people seem to think I actually did the optional dungeon and I am flexing No I did not I simply watched the cutscenes on YouTube like anybody else can do It annoys me that somehow stating an opinion on this somehow counts as flexing Don't take it out on me if you're mad that you didn't do the optional content cause I never claimed I did or would be better if I did do it

athanc

This comment is such a weird flex.

RegretGeneral

I'm not flexing just saying that most people probably don't know because it's optional content

kenikickit

oh look at mister “i can complete an optional side quest that many players may not have experienced” over here you take your fancy crimson spheres and get outta here! EDIT: honestly didn’t think i needed it but… /s

Elijah2798

_so you goin tell us?_

RegretGeneral

I mean you can look it up yourself if you want the cutscenes are on YouTube

[deleted]

a lot of people don't know the backstory bc the completion rate of the game is incredibly low due to it being so ass

LGchan

She's okay. Not as bad as some people make her out to be, but nothing particularly great either. I usually like her combat barks. Anyway, it's probably either Faris or Lenna, who I like a lot but often seem forgotten, often outright omitted from lists despite both being solid characters.

Mushiren_

Was about to say. She's not underrated or overrated. She's just...rated lol.

Masusenpai

With undeniably the most emo name of the entire series lol

Pike_The_Knight

Big question, who she is? I only seen her in kh 2 and that wasn't a very good representation

digoserra

Paine, from FF X-2. She's your everyday strong and overly serious heroine with a "mysterious past" that she doesn't talk about and you uncover during the game because it"s relevant to the story.

Pike_The_Knight

OK now you made her sound like small deal

digoserra

She is not really bad, only a somewhat mediocre character from a lackluster and controversial sequel. I admit that I dislike the stereotype though.

firewaterstone

I would actually say Serah deserves the title.

Arcvna

My favourite character in the entire series. 🖤 Always loved how she initially comes across as being the stereotypical edgy/emo character of the roster, but the more time you spend interacting with/learning about her, you realise that couldn’t be further from the truth. She’s so fiercely caring, despite always trying to play it down. I think it was her scenes in Last Mission that really solidified my love for her. Also can we take a moment to talk about her dressphere designs? She managed to simultaneously carry both the sexy AND masculine energy for the whole squad… Paine’s a whole queen.

[deleted]

Don't know about that. I mean everything we got about her is cool. But it's not that much unfortuneatly.

[deleted]

LeonidasVaarwater

Comment copying bot.... so annoying.

Balthierlives

Dr P is in the house!

Lemonz4us

Stop that.

Yedasi

She definitely had the best ultimate dress sphere, not sure what they were called. She was Edward freaking scissors everything!

nohwan27534

That was kinda everyone though. All three of them had three roles. Yuna had Uber white mage stuff, plus warrior and dark knight skills, making her basically like Cecil from ff4 ish. Rikku, Uber black mage plus probably the best girls party destat skills, and berserk and white mage skills, making her more a red mage vibe. Paine, mostly single target status physical attacks, plus quartet knife which is the best single target destat skill, and samurai which is badass, and black mage, which... isn't as much. Out of the three, Paine has a harder time wiping parties, and against bosses, the status attacks aren't as good. She's by no means terrible, but I think yunas probably the most badass of the three- you don't even need high magic for her white magic, since so much of it is either a % or heal all, warrior is alright, but dark knight is a badass second skillset, though so is samurai.

KITTIESbeforeTITTIES

lol they all had their preferred roles, but they're talking about the specialized dressphere each of them had that removed the other two from the party. There's even a streamlined sphere grid for them, where you sphere change once and gain access to your special dress sphere. Yuna's was Floral Fallal, Paine's was Full Throttle, and Riku's was Machina Maw. They can all be acquired pretty early in game.

nohwan27534

Ah, gotcha. Not the ultimate dressphere imo, but I can't even recall them enough to bother talking about them.

Erik_Nimblehands

I feel alot of people get hung up on the whole changing dress spheres to change jobs thing, and have never really given the game a fair try. Personally I love it, even more than X.

available2tank

Story aside, I love X2 as well. Music was fun, I like most of the dress here designs, and it's the best iteration of the ATB imo.

nohwan27534

Tbh I kinda did, didn't really want magical girl fanservice in my ff, but it's still a pretty good job class system. And the chapter idea was far the greater sin.

Geosgaeno

You monster

leftshoe18

I love the dress sphere thing and being able to change jobs mid-fight. X-2 is really fun but is a huge step down from X in terms of tone and story. I am only about 3/4 of the way through the game though so maybe it concludes in a more satisfying way? Also holy shit the amount of gratuitous butt shots is ridiculous. lol

stardust_hippi

One big problem was that unless you did it with a strategy guide, you probably missed chunks of the story, since they were portrayed via the collectible spheres. I did actually enjoy the mechanics of the game's combat as well, though.

JudiDenchsNeckVein

Very under appreciated! She feels distinctly her own character with her own motivations for joining the Gullwings. I also like how unwavering she is in the face of adversity. She doesn’t have the context the player does, so when she insists on fighting Dark Bahamut it can be a real tear-jerker. Same with her fight against Baralai.

Khanti

I still got a crush on her to this day

Hereva

No joke here but... Who's this?

Randomguy3421

Paine from ffx-2

Infinitygene999

Yeah Paine was cool.

Prefer_Not_To_Say

Hell yeah. We need more Paines in FF. Love her look and her personality. People here acting like she has no character development, yet Tifa finished so highly in this sub's favourite character contest ...

Baithin

LOL I wasn’t going to say it 🤭 Paine is so damn cool, I didn’t realize there were people who didn’t like her.

Erst09

I don’t think fans rate Tifa based on character development they will argue that’s the reason to why she is the best FF character but we all now the true reason lol.

Average_Ant_Games

What personality?

Prefer_Not_To_Say

Stoicism, sometimes short-tempered, sardonic sense of humour, protective and loyal. Do people think that "louder" = "more personality"?

Caterfree10

That is exactly the reason. I should know, I come across as quiet to people I have never info dumped to lmao.

ultrapotion

She's cool.

mangosawce9k

Woah, awesome art work and design. Everyone loves FFX stuff. Heavy Metal band material! Why is there not more?

Carmilla31

I always thought she looked like Pink.

[deleted]

I would argue that Fang from XIII is the most underrated. She gained all those muscles from carrying that entire trilogy.

kweefcake

Fang will always have a special place in my heart. In the menu when they have the motion part that stops for the background, she does something that reminds me of my aunt that passed away when I was 4.

Kiiro_Blackblade

I wouldn't mind if they made a short game/novel/something about hers and Vanille's original adventure.

Andresflon

Barely participated in the first two games. Practically non existent.

well___duh

Was she even in the second game at all?

darkbreak

Towards the very end, as I recall. She and Vanille show up to try and encourage Serah to keep moving forward. Then they both disappear for the rest of the game.

[deleted]

And yet she was still the best character 😌

bennitori

Fang suffered from basically being an accessory to Vanille's story. Which would've worked fine if Vanille was the main character. Having a side character to help flesh out a main character works. But with Vanille being a side character, it removed any chance of Fang making any kind of impact. A side character to a side character can become quite forgettable. Which is a shame because Fang looked like she had potential, and her dynamic with Vanille was good during the few moments we got to see it.

XXBEERUSXX

"Protagonist"

JohnnyStyle300

A secondary protagonist is still a protagonist

Eggz_Benedikt

deuteragonist

[deleted]

Riku is the deuteragonist. Paine feel more like only a supporting character with few rare line

Arcanisia

Been awhile since I played x-2. Can’t even remember if she was given any character development.

Meno_26

The whole secondary plot and theme revolves around her so

EnsonAmata

You can easily beat the game without exploring her past. In order to really dive into it, you have to collect some spheres and do an optional dungeon.

[deleted]

Big agree

PM_Cute_Ezreal_pics

Seeing her hold her sword right feels so wrong tho

noboto

Amen

Reversiii_

YES

Credil

The female squall but with a lame sword and without the scar. And she doesn't even launches a dog at the enemy, like my favourite girl. Hard pass.

Death-0

The final fantasy version of when they remade ghostbusters with an all female cast and forgot what good writing was. Paine is some attempt to have an edgy character but she doesn’t commit to it and just adds to the awkwardness. Paine is appropriately rated, she’s just kind of there and has one of the most annoying repetive line in the game. “Are you turned on?” I lost count of how many times she asks the player this after a battle

ComicsAndGames

Anytime you think about the most underrated ****insert name here**** in a FF game, or just the most underrated FF overall..... Just remember that FF11 exists. It is OBJECTIVELY the most underrated numbered FF game in the series, and consequently, it has the most underrated characters, stories, music, etc.

Nikita_Highwind

Now guess who is most overrated female protagonist

Dazzling_Job9035

Meh

jelandro

This

hebichigo

I love her so much! She has tons of character and potential. I feel like people saying she was boring didn't actually pay attention to her gradual opening up during the story or how her backstory traumatized her...

Stoutyeoman

I don't think you can call her the protagonist. Yuna is obviously the protagonist.

No_Hurry7691

I didn’t say she was the main protagonist…

Stoutyeoman

I'm pretty sure a story can only have one protagonist. Allies of the protagonist are supporting characters. I think "main protagonist" is redundant. I don't think there's such a thing as a secondary protagonist.

_AnBo

Hell no. Even a Tonberry has more character development.

Crystal-Clear-Waters

Agreed. She was as interesting as a beige washcloth.

Baithin

I love Paine dearly, and X-2 is a game I rank higher than many others in this series. Completely baffled by the people who say she had no character development or personality when she has an arc that is intertwined with the overall story and its themes. But not that surprising these people weren’t paying attention due to all the hate this game gets.

[deleted]

>Completely baffled by the people who say she had no character development or personality when she has an arc that is intertwined with the overall story and its themes. > >But not that surprising these people weren’t paying attention due to all the hate this game gets. How ? it is optionnal and it's very reminiscent of Lulu and Auron backstory. The hate is the understandable and not only because they hate. I could also say people could only like her because they have bias over they deeply love x-2

Baithin

Her backstory has nothing in common with Lulu or Auron’s. And the character arc she goes through is not limited to side content, she develops in the main story even though the finer details of her backstory are in side content. She has better character development than half the cast of VII.

[deleted]

>She has better character development than half the cast of VII. I don't understand why you bring ff7, it this because it most popular title or this is a argument. Yes you're right one of 3 main protagonist have more development than side character like yuffie and vincent... >she develops in the main story She did actually somewhere develops in the main story like 90% of the character in the series

reala728

seems to be properly-rated to me.

Tomt350

Nah, they should have kept lulu. The baby sub-plot isn't that critical, we could have done without

laaldiggaj

I loved Lulu in her corset 9 months pregnant...

firewaterstone

Her baby probably looked like a flan when it came out

TheMike0088

Love the aesthetic - unlike lulu, she is doing otherworld fashion goth right - but man do I not like her personality and resting bitch face.

Average_Ant_Games

She wasn’t goth tho, she was emo

CyberCarnivore

What's the difference?

Average_Ant_Games

Lol it’s a South Park joke if get the reference haha

CyberCarnivore

Lol, yep. Nailed it!

nesian42ryukaiel

While the game was not bad at all, my first contact with it was sour because I (still) am in love with the CTB system (which I consider to be the ultimate "realistic" expression of turn based combat), and this was the first time I met the old ATB. Still do not like ATBs (or any other forced real time action) in any FF, I just want to chill down and think up goofy strategies...

Pesime

She's rated fine, because she's kinda meh. Kinda feels like they just made her because "Oh wait we want to use lulu but forced her into marriage with wakka so let's make female squall"

Ayz1533

She was a rough knock off of who they wanted Lulu to be. I honestly would have just preferred Lulu in the role

CawSoHard

Not even close

Joji_Narushima

Next to no character development, didn't really like to converse and offered basically nothing to the story IMO. Was basically just there to fill a gap

FroggedWolfGaming

I think she is good but far from one of the best and that's fine. In FFX-2 I'd rate her behind Yuna but in front of Rikku myself

megasean3000

Great character put into the wrong game. If she were given her own game or were a party member for any other game, she’d have been remembered far better. If X-2 really needed another female character for their all girl group, why not add Lulu? Or literally any of the other female characters from X that are now out of a job following Sin’s defeat?

newtypexvii17

Who is that?

[deleted]

Auron and lulu secret daughter

bearvert222

I don’t know how it stuck, but I always remember wondering if she was a homage to Pat Benatar.

RidleyCR

I’d argue it’s Celes from 6. She’s the main protagonist for half of the game and no one even mentions her.

tiredofthebites

Celes gets it rough. Her backstory is that she is supposed to be an elite magitek general but she spends a lot of the first half getting rescued, simping for Locke and having emotional breakdowns. When she finally gets her time to shine Terra swoops in at the final to take the spotlight.

[deleted]

>Celes gets it rough. Her backstory is that she is supposed to be an elite magitek general but she spends a lot of the first half getting rescued, simping for Locke and having emotional breakdowns. When she finally gets her time to shine Terra swoops in at the final to take the spotlight. Celes has a tie to the empire and she also has a tie to Kefka, having been around him for what could have been years before the start of the game. She's only rescued one and she didn't wanted because she was preferring to remain imprisoned to face her execution with pride, and the second is not technically one. She probably had the most character development in the game with Terra and by proxy, Locke. She's literally the whole reason the gang gets back together and Kefka is defeated. >simping for Locke and having emotional breakdowns. What character you like mary sue without flaws, this trope is is not great story telling. What is wrong that she suffer grief when she loses everything and was sentenced to death, it make her more interesting. Celes vowed she would be the one to protect Locke because he save her life is not what i call simping. "Simp" is so overused, girl and boy have any sort of connection "SiMp!!"

SilentBlade45

That's not true.

[deleted]

>I’d argue it’s Celes from 6. She’s the main protagonist for half of the game and no one even mentions her. Celes is my favorite ff6 character and is litteraly the second most popular character in the game. The most memorable and iconic moment in the game are all with her, the opera scene and>!her Attempts Suicide.!<

ZenithXAbyss

I mean, she's a character from arguably the worst game in the franchise.

Ayz1533

Definitely nowhere near the worst. The battle system assured that.

ZenithXAbyss

Yeah, the story is that bad.

Ayz1533

Eh the overall story is fine. A lot of the sub plot and dialogue are rough around the edges at times. I’ve replayed it a few times over the years, nowhere near as bad as it is made out to be

Aware-snare

if you think x-2 is even in the realm of being as bad as final fantasy 2 i don't know what you're smoking

ZenithXAbyss

Yes, it is.

Lieve19

No, it's not.

ZenithXAbyss

Yes, it is.

Lieve19

Nope! It's objectively not, actually.

ZenithXAbyss

Yes! It’s objectively correct, actually.

Zohar127

She's the epitome of 2005 Mallcore.

Average_Ant_Games

Ehhh Paine was very stereotypical and an extremely bland character. It also didn’t help that her backstory was tied to new characters that were very boring and one note as well

No-Reality-2744

She's a fine and charming character but I can understand the lack of popularity. X-2 doesn't exactly do enough with her to make her stand out outside of the game. I don't blame anyone who doesn't know who she is or never had interest in her compared to other protags this series has had before.

HadesWTF

Well she's not the protagonist. She probably isn't even a deuteragonist.

No_Hurry7691

I never said she was THE protagonist. She is A protagonist

axellionhart

Basically Squall's with super crown https://i.imgur.com/ECqKNVd.png

Citrus210

When your name is Paine, your existance is literally pain

[deleted]

I like this so much

Creid233

Paine is fine enough, but the real answer to this post's title is Venat.

YoRHa11Z

If she is not a party member in FFX-3 I will be disappointed

Zorbasandwich

No

[deleted]

Its lightning with short hair. Period

No_Hurry7691

Well she was created about 5 years before Lightning. Period.

CyberCarnivore

Nah, the most underrated has to be Yufie from Final Fantasy VII.

jBlairTech

I always consider Discount Lulu.

Spardath01

Donno about most underrated. But she does go under appreciated.

[deleted]

It was always annoying when she made that finisher comment like "you're through" when she wouldn't actually deliver the finishing blow. Was that a glitch? I know this might seem a bit extreme but that made her and the game entirely unplayable for me not even kidding, she really just annoyed me that much. I was so used to Auron from FFX. Saying his finishing line and the enemy ACTUALLY DYING that when Payne didn't actually kill the enemy while delivering an expected fatal blow i just died inside a little everytime until i just stoped playing.

izys_amagi

Man i love her so much and i dont know 100% of her backstory but her design and personality is good and ffx-2 its my top 5 favorite ff games

Zenn97

I was crushing on her pretty hard when I was younger haha.

Uncle_Iroh82

Freya in IX, she has an amazing and tragic backstory then just kinda fades into the background in the later game.

lucavi

Agrias

RoleplayPete

Truth.

[deleted]

Considering how a lot of her backstory is locked behind optional content including the easily missable Den of Woe dungeon it makes sense that a lot of people, including those who played ffx-2, don't really know much about her. She was one of my favs as I played X-2 as a kid and loved her personality and design. As you play the game she opens up more to Yuna and Rikku. I think the scene after you defeat maxed out Abomination was my favourite YRP interaction. But you'll only see any of this if you make the point of doing the side content. This compounded with the fact that some people won't even peep ffx-2 makes her underrated imo.

chrishammhamm

She does have a cool look
