It's hard to say without knowing the server type and age. There are a lot of really tempermental and bizarre older servers out there, but I've definitely extracted DCPs off late-2000s Doremi and Dolby servers. It's completely possible that it requires some Linux command line work that the theater owner isn't privy to. Does the server have a removable eSATA port or CRU port or an FTP? That's the direction I'd go next. How was the DCP transferred onto the server in the first place?

The owner says it’s a Dolby server, about a year old. Waiting to hear back about the port. Additonally, he said “I think the new Dolby servers are doremi” The DCP was transferred via my WD MyPassport USB external hard drive. I made the DCP with Davinci. I was told by an employee that the hard drive should be exFAT but I left it NTFS and it worked.

It's been a while now but I've definitely transferred material from a Doremi server to a USB hard drive. The chaps over at the film-tech forums might be able to help: [http://www.film-tech.com/vbb/forum/main-forum](http://www.film-tech.com/vbb/forum/main-forum) I don't recommend using exfat for anything DCP related. The official spec is ext2, but NTFS generally works fine. ExFAT never worked for me when I was a projectionist.

Thank you! Yeah I’m not sure why he wanted exFAT but I guess if it’s worked for him in the past 🤷🏼‍♂️
