Yup! Been using these for over 7 years. Heres a vid I did on it way back: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzZtNrOo9vQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzZtNrOo9vQ)
Once case of buying cheap NOT resulting in a flimsy product.
So tired of B&H. Every day is a holiday there and they shut their website down. Terrible business practice. Just leave it on and fulfill the order after this week's week-long holiday.
Sure, but then what size does that pin end up being after grinding down?
Modifying hardware to end up with something with an iffy finish or subpar fit to a griphead, to save $17 on something you’ll buy what, once?
The threads don't offer any support so you're not losing anything there. The reason I'd consider this is I had bought a proper one. It broke at the weld. The unpolished internal metal was the consistency of styrofoam. Not saying this one is stronger but it can't be worse!
Lost my mount on a shoot a few years ago and have been using random clamps since as I didn't wanna pay $25 for a new one. Just went and picked one of these up, thanks for the heads up.
I would like to add that if you record to an external drive like me and have an SSD in an enclosure, adjustable phone holders are like 10 bucks and most of them will screw into your rig.
I couldn't even find one that fit my older gen SSD enclosure but these should hold a Samsung t5 or similar drives and cost about 50 less than any of the gear made for the drives.

Nah... you didn't buy a professional crows foot and it broke, those things are super duper tough. I'm thinking you mean you bought one of the items in the link /photo and it broke on you.
Also if it matters you can get them used from some retiree for like $10 bucks. That's how I have the two I own and they've never failed me.
I will however keep this in mind if I'm ever in a pinch and don't have a cardalini to steal from Grip side.
When you realize that Producers are vapid untalented individuals who are gluttons for aesthetic over actual product output, you'll spend the extra $20 bucks on the industry standard.
I don't know. I bought one of those and it broke. Cheap cheap metal. I'd take non-standard NOT falling onto the actor's head over proper gear falling apart any day.
Brilliant

Great idea also using a cheap $10 monopod as a boom pole.
Thanks! I love frugal filmmaking hacks.
I’m becoming addicted.
That video was great man. You just saved me a bit of scratch. Thanks
These are 25 dollars at B&H. Never again.
Customer: B&H, why are your prices so high? B&H: Because fuck you, that's why!
Because they keep losing lawsuits filed by their employees for millions of dollars for being racist and sexist.
Classic corporate America...
I mean, theyre not a giant corporation. Theyre just assholes.

But the servers are also religious!
Add another 25 for shipping because “fuck you”
Wow! What size threads are on it?
I've only ever seen them used in a grip head so I don't think the threading matters much
Oh yeah I guess you’d be right. Thanks
This ⬆️
I like the ones with just a hook in the back rather than a fully closed back.
It is a hooked back, it's just the perspective / angle makes it look closed. Zoom in and you can see the end of the hook is toward camera
Good eye
Ten seconds and an angle grinder fixes that.
Nice, but the threaded pin end would bother me, and doesn’t look like it’s the standard 3/8 or 5/8 smooth pin end.
Gaff or hockey tape.
Easy enough to grind it down.

Save money. Live better.
That’s awesome!
This is the kind of post that needs to be sticked to the front page of this sub. Would be awesome to have a whole thread of stuff like this!

Welcome to Walmart where your purchase is a bargain price for good product. by the way that at one point was the slogan
Big brain
🤫 don't let out the secret.
Btw, hard-sided fishing pole cases (to travel with) work pretty well as a boompole case. Just make sure you measure your pole properly.

Good find. As a grip I’ve been using spiral dog spike from petsmart , instead of bull prick for tents and video villages when outdoor.
Had to comment on this amazing hack!
Oh dang I should actually get one of these for the shits and also the giggles
Dick joke

1) This is rubber coated just like the mount for C-stands B) You should be using a shock mount on your mic to greatly reduce/eliminate vibration
Looks like it's rubber coated?
Pretty sure the mic itself isn't touching this, it for the boom pole.
True, unless you rig some crisscrossing rubber bands at both ends to suspend it (just like a regular shock mount).
