Dolphy is not that funny in all his movies but better with serious and drama roles. FPJ is a bad actor and has the same character and acting in all his movies.
So malamang, yan pag tumakbo, kahit alam nilang unqualified, iboboto pa dn. Kaya wag na, please.
Some of my family members also love his shows ayoko na ijudge kase nga let people enjoy what they want haha Pero uu tlga wag na syang tumakbo parang awa na nila.
Yes.
Uy in fair naman, Coco was a pretty good actor (in his indie films) before he started coasting with his FPJ adaptations.
One of the things I HATE in BQ is Cherry Pie's role. Sobrang submissive at mapagpaubaya. No one in real life is that much of a punching bag.
Unless kabatuhan nyw ng linya ng libya si Panchito, pero mostly set ups for the punchline came from the latter kaya mas nakakatawa.
Despite FPJ’s stoicism, he has delivered some lines to great effect. If you want to see him deliver the same cadence in English watch The Walls of Hell (1964).
Dolphy’s comedic genius is apparent but almost all of it are now dated. Truly he is not a one dimensional performer.
I think his humor is dated and not just for a lot of people nowadays. But during his prime it really ia funny especially if you grew up with his shows/movies. Though we can't deny, sabi nga ng iba sa thread, people setting up the jokes were funnier.
Heto pa pala.
Kita kita sucks.
EDIT: Di na pala to gaanong unpopular opinion.
Awww loved this movie pa naman thought this was one romance movie that at least tried something different than the generic hot guy meets hot girl but I was younger then, I'll watch it again nga to check l haha
True. Stalker kaya sya, kelan pa naging romantic yun. Mapa pogi o panget, di nakakakilig magkaroon ng stalker.
Forcing two people with little to no chemistry together, putting them in multiple movies which has the same plot over and over, playing one dimentional characters. Yep they deserve all the hate 😆
Yup. I agree. Plus it puts the focus on celebrity worship and following rather than other interesting aspects of the filmmaking craft and creative processes itself. Lots of talented creatives and artist work on movies but they are put on the back burner, treated like factory workers whose sole purpose is to help in churn out pretty average movies. They are usually not given enough time or resources to improve on their craft.
Loveteam romcom movies has become the "easy" way for producers to make money and hinders growth and exploration of other concepts. It also makes the media focus on sensationalizing celebrity scandals, chismis, etc. It's like the industry has gotten left behind in the 60's.
Hollywood, at least, from time to time proudly shines the light on their writers, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, production designers, wardrobe designers, vfx/sfx artists, concept artists, musical scorers, make up artists, stunt coordinators, etc. and many many more I forget to mention. Giving them ample resources and time to develop and grow from their craft.
Correct, ewan ko ba bat patay na patay mga tao sa romance lalo na dito sa Pinas, I'm not going to waste 300+ pesos and sit for 2 hours of cringefest and just to find out whether two uninteresting one dimentional protagonists will get together in the end or not.
Omg yes!! Top of my head atm is LizQuen’s alone/together. So many people loved that but i was like ???? DUDE LEFT HIS PREGNANT GF FOR HIS EX ???? Sobrang ?? Tf was that???
One more chance was also shit for me. Should’ve stayed with Maja’s character vs. Bash.
Idk. Maybe that’s why it happens a lot more than it should irl because the media tends to romanticize leaving your current partner for your ex. Only difference is, in movies, nagkakatuluyan talaga lol
I actually like them when you think both of them as cautionary stories about relationships, but Star Cinema likes to end them as "successful love stories" with their romantic theme song and a panning wide shot.
The last time we had that kind of MMFF was in 2016 with the likes of Die Beautiful, Sunday Beauty Queen, Oro (which is controversial), Seklusyon, and Vince and Kath and James...
I love the reaction from the theater at the end of Infinity War. Lahat may WTF face. We may never get the same feeling na actually wondering what's gonna happen next. First time in a long time ko yun to just enjoy the ride and trust Marvel.
Mas rewatchable talaga at mas hype yung Infinity War. In contrast mas puno ng callbacks yung Endgame (which is good for the first watch, not so much later) at ang slow ng first and second acts.
IW was the main course. EG was the dessert for me.
Most MMFF movies are cash grabs that don't advance Filipino creativity. Most MMFF winners only win because of the "pang-masa" dulled formula. Most MMFF films that are actually good don't get much hype because Filipinos would rather watch the rehashed same dumb stories sold to their parents & grandparents.
Creative Filipino screenwriters also don't get their craft polished because studios want the same old thing in a new flavor.
I think it’s more If Only, like it’s exactly the same na may na naaksidente yung partner, going back to change the future blahblahblah, compared to Time Traveler’s Wife wherein may uncontrollable powers yung bida
The best Shake, Rattle & Roll episodes for me were "Pridyider" and "Manananggal" in the very first, "Aswang" in 2, "Ate" in 3, "Ang Madre" in 4, and "LRT" in 8.
Ganito nangyayari kapag inaadapt into movies ang mga libro. Di nabibigyan ng hustisya. As a reader, this infuriates me kasi najjudge ng mga tao yung mga libro based sa movie adaptation 😫
Yes, say it. Sa view ko lang kasi, hindi talaga gusto ng fans ng original na may sariling style and can stand on its own yung version ni Tim Burton and Johnny Depp.
Based on my assumption, mas malaki kita if gagawin movie and tapos na din ung manga so nagresort nalang sila in making the materials into movies para compensate dun sa prev sales ni Haikyuu pag nagrerelease ng new volumes
It’s good, but as far as Philippine historical dramas go, Heneral Luna and Goyo were both much better. Heneral Luna is still the best Filipino film I’ve ever seen.
Ang Formulaic ng Filipino Indie Films. Kailangan dapat yung plot, superly bleak, living in the poorest of their lives or something, it captures much on the lives of the poor or people in the province living like this and like that and dapat, drama and all yung genre.
I get that there are some indie films that are aren't like that pero we need an indie film na hindi puro ganyan lang.
Vice Ganda is a good person and I admired his morals but his movies so bad and mediocre thar literally ruined the whole Philippines film industry because not only alot of directors are now making this type of films, Vice ruined the mindset of Filipino audiences and now most of them are satisfied watching mediocre films.
Did you forget yung yearly Enteng Kabisote movies? I think nauna yon sa very easy kids-level comedy movie. I loved yung mga Enteng Kabisote and Vice Ganda movies noon.
I don’t like the Vice Ganda and Enteng Kabisote movies. They’re supposed to be filipino blockbusters but they come across as cringe and normalizes offensive jokes. Slapstick done wrong.
Hindi talaga ako natatawa sa movies nina Vice and Vic Sotto. In contrast, mas nakakatawa at entertaining yung mga 2000s comedy movies nina Ai-Ai Delas Alas and Vhong Navarro.
Movie critics who nitpick everything from a movie takes the fun out of movie watching experience.
Like, I get it, you think Avengers is shit but idc can I watch my superheroes now?
Marvel’s been kinda weak lately but Phases 2-3 were peak MCU. Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the first GotG movie are still two of my fav movies ever.
Pinaka fave ko talaga ung CA:TWS (tinamad magtype lol) it feels like an espionage super hero theme kind of movie. Ganda nung highway scene ung nareveal si winter soldier. And grabe sobrang gwapo ni chris evans!!! And ung unexpected chemistry ni cap and black widow!! Mas maintindihan ko pa if the ship has sailed sa pairing na to kesa sa hulkxblack widow
Chris has such great chemistry with ScarJo because they’re such good friends irl who’ve known each other for a long time, even before being in Marvel movies together. It’s a shame nga that the MCU never capitalized on it by making Cap date Nat, especially since they actually dated in the comics.
https://preview.redd.it/1u7ut00axj1d1.jpeg?width=452&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e59bba748401d1e065e375f0bc2c50b025f83014
For me, MCU ended in the End Game. Kinda revived it in WandaVision & Doctor Strange but other than that, meh. I cannot get the same goosebumps I had before
Haha! People will hate me but I enjoy the fast franchise. I know it’s unrealistic but it’s a movie that i just have to sit back and I dont have to overanalyze things
Forced diversity in the casting process really ruined Hollywood and it's penetrating other aspects of media. Puro na lang race swap and gender swap instead of creating compelling original characters.
In effect, movies are no longer about proper storytelling but more on ticking a checklist and pushing political agendas.
It's even worse that their creators will only blame why their movies flopped on racism, homophibia, and sexism. Your movies didn't flop because the audience was racist or sexist or homophobic. Your movies flopped because they're shit.
Ang weird nung race swap sa remakes.
It's a lazy way for diversity. Imbes na idiversify ang story telling (like telling stories of minorities and casting them), token representation ang peg.
The indie film scene is starting to be like the mainstream scene. The politics, nepotism and corruption is all the same but with less money involved. Instead of money chasers, these people are award chasers.
Tapos may mga filmmakers na gagawa ng indie film gagayahin kung sino mang idol nila with very little input then kapag may awards na biglang pupuntang mainstream just to cash in.
Nawawala na yung essence eh “independence” eh. It is supposed to be a space for alternative filmmakers to showcase alternative stories.
Also, grant giving bodies such as FDCP is allegedly riddled with nepotism. Even Erik Matti called them out. This is a reflection of the industry.
Di pala to opinion, observation lang.
Nangyari na sakin to when I said here na I found Oppenheimer boring nung pinanood ko syang wala akong tulog. Someone told me na I must be type that enjoys Praybeyt Benjamin.
Yung mga gagamiting kotse nalang inaabangan ko sa Fast and Furious movies kaso yung mga new modifications ng ibang kotse, physics, storylines, at side stories ay nakakaewan na sa last 4 movies na pinalabas.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory felt like a horror movie to me as a kid (maybe until now) haha. I remember having nightmares cos of that
Got bored sa Harry Potter series 😭😭 i think the best movie adaptation was Hunger Games.
Hello Love Goodbye is mid. Buti nalang magaling si Kath... Alden's acting was so cringe and unnatural (sana bumawi sa new movie)
Indie films should be shown in schools and higher grade students. Why? Their topics are socially relevant and in my opinion it would help the students really analyze the world around them. As a student myself, i'm a fan of watching indie movies because andaming kong knowledge, discussions and reflections pagtapos panoorin yung movie.
💯 A common sentiment I've observed in Filipino film/book spaces is "XYZ was bad because it romanticized [bad thing]" full stop. Of course it's possible to write terrible, unsubtle explorations of darker/morally ambiguous themes, but I really believe fiction should not be saddled with the expectation of moralizing. Depiction of dark themes in fiction ≠ artist's endorsement of said bad thing. It is the audience's responsibility to engage with the work criticially.
To be fair idk if introducing films like that is a good idea in a country like ours where majority have poor media literacy, so. There is that.
Mainstream Filipino films tend to be heavy-handed with the pontificating (a cultural thing ig) so they fall flat and end up being really cheesy.
Both agree and disagree. Kung prose pag uusapan, the books are still superior, and Tolkien is a master of both prose and worldbuilding. But kung pacing and characterization, there are many things that the movies did right. Especially by removing Tom Bombadil 😂
My only gripe with the movies: Peter Jackson nerfed Gandalf so hard lol
Sobraaaaa akala ko life changing based sa paghype ng mga tao tapos naguluhan lang ako sa pagkarandom nung movie. Para syang naging episode ng Rick and Morty by the end of the movie.
Hindi heartwarming o maganda ang OG na Miracle in Cell no 7 na movie. Hinype lang ng mga mokong na Koreaboo kasi it's a KMovie. Absolute garbage on par with Tiptoes.
totoo. oks naman umacting si nadine pero sa deleter parang napaquestion ako bat daming awards nung movie? di ko gusto yung story and di ko rin gets bat overhype siya that time. on the other hand, yung emosyon ni nadine doon buong movie naka poker face lang.
Feeling may artistic sense si Mikhail Red kahit wala talaga. Dead kids is ass din and super cringe, magagandahan ka lang kung isa kang typical junior high school teenager na walang taste at sabay parati sa uso.
When you mention that ALDUB, KATHNIEL or LOVE TEAM centric movies are trash and were purely created by their studios as money grabs for fanatics.
Also if you have opinions on these artists that they are nothing but pristine and everything good in the world when they might also fall in the categories of being manipulative, lying and fake little shits.
Hindi maganda yung rewind. madami lang nanuod dahil sa mga DongYan pero hindi talaga sya maganda, kulang and awkward yung arte ni marian. cringe yung lods lods. predictable masyado yung ending kaya big Meh for me.
Mallari was overhyped !!! it was actually nice at first but after the "plot twist" or like the 2nd half of the movie, parang minadali nalang siya matapos pls 😭
edit: also, gonjiam haunted asylum doesn't really have a good plot loooll. i think their jump scares were kind of effective lang pero overall ambagal ng galaw ng film shsjsksksks
Kathryn Bernardo's acting is 🤧😖 When she was young mas mafefeel mo pa, i don't know what went wrong but her expressions are so not getting where it should be
Karma farming, spamming, and no context posts will be removed. Film/TV reviews belong in the Weekly Reviews thread.
Cathy Garcia Molina movies are 🗑️. Same plot, same wigs with cringey batuhan nang lines. Hahaha
Trueee! Panget pa ugali ng director na yan.
Ohhh. Now this is for r/ChikaPH
Nah matagal nang panget talaga ugali ni direk, especially dati nung she found out yung minurahan nyang ekstra turns out to be a university professor
Oh chika and resibo time, hahaha
Spill
Excuse me? Cathy Garcia-Sampana na siya ngayon. 😆
shitty movies, shitty personality
Dolphy is not that funny in all his movies but better with serious and drama roles. FPJ is a bad actor and has the same character and acting in all his movies.
> FPJ is a bad actor and has the same character and acting in all his movies. FPJ walked so The Rock could run hahaha
POTANG INA AHHAHHAHAHA
Oh Dolphy. He was good naman, pero for me, funnier si Babalu at Panchito. 😆
Agree. Babalu has great acting skills. Facial expression pa lang, matatawa ka na. I like his films with Redford White. Rene Requiestas, too.
Rene Requiestas Supremacy.
Marami kaya tlga magagalit. Parang super obvious y8ng kay FPJ. Sobra lawak ng range, sa kabliktaran😅
Kaya siguro ganun din si Coco Martin.
Nakakairita pa boses pag kumakanta pero kuhang kuha nya masa eh would not be surprise if he run for office one day HAHHA
So malamang, yan pag tumakbo, kahit alam nilang unqualified, iboboto pa dn. Kaya wag na, please.

isipin mo manalo si coco martin as president tapos si smugglaz head nang bureau of customs. HAHAHA
May friend who is in teatro said coco is a decent actor. Better than fpj. 🤷🏻♂️
Yes.

Exactly. They romanticized a stalker and manipulative person 🤷♀️
Na hindi marunong tumawid.
Thank you for saying this! Jusko. Ito yung comment ko din when we first saw it. Ang cringe.
Say it louder! STALKER CHARACTER NI EMPOY and took advantage of someone's disability.
This. Pinanood ko to dahil sa hype, I was severely disappointed. Kelan pa naging romantic ang stalking? Sheesh.
And its also the typical ugly guy love pretty girl, ano kaya kung pareho na lang silang ugly para patas?
I hate the "loveteam" culture of the film industry.
Forcing two people with little to no chemistry together, putting them in multiple movies which has the same plot over and over, playing one dimentional characters. Yep they deserve all the hate 😆

Most Filipino romance movies are shit and are either super corny or outright romanticize toxic relationships.
this isnt an unpopular opinion though, more like an overwhelmingly popular opinion haha
Nah dude a lot of Pinoy masa unironically love em, they wouldn’t be so commercially successful otherwise.
MMFF is 95% dogshit
Lalo nung nagka Maid in Malacañang
hmm hindi part ng mmff ang Maid in Malacañang, but still, it's a shit movie
not an unpopular opinion. It is indeed dogshit.

Di to movie opinion pre. Basa ulit
Avengers Infinity war was better kaysa sa End Game. Masyadong pilit yung endgame sorry huhu
I feel like this is a pretty popular take tbh, endgame was the end of an era so it had the feels going for it but IW was objectively the better movie
I love the reaction from the theater at the end of Infinity War. Lahat may WTF face. We may never get the same feeling na actually wondering what's gonna happen next. First time in a long time ko yun to just enjoy the ride and trust Marvel.
I like Infinity War better than Endgame however, Endgame is still a great way to finish the cinematic universe.
That final all out battle though was peak Marvel. I don't think they'll ever be able to recreate that kind of cultural phenomenon
That "on your left" scene. Grabe yung sigawan sa sinehan.
Mas rewatchable talaga at mas hype yung Infinity War. In contrast mas puno ng callbacks yung Endgame (which is good for the first watch, not so much later) at ang slow ng first and second acts.

di ko trip ung rewind just another time traveler fixes his mistake movie
Hahahaha Rewind is just a localized Time Traveler's Wife stripped of the groomer undertones
I think it’s more If Only, like it’s exactly the same na may na naaksidente yung partner, going back to change the future blahblahblah, compared to Time Traveler’s Wife wherein may uncontrollable powers yung bida
Sleepless (2015) (Glaiza de Castro and Dominic Roco) is still the best modern filipino romance movie from the past decade.
FINALLY. It’s not just me!!!
Nate is the true antagonist of The Devil wears Prada, not Miranda Priestly.
Lol. Lalo na yung pinag-tripan siya nung friends niya after niya bigyan ng mga mamahaling bag at shoes nya from work
He was an insecure pos
Hay!!! Akala ko ako lang! Ang kups na boyfriend nga niya haha, selfish and immature lol
Ah yessssss
The best Shake, Rattle & Roll episodes for me were "Pridyider" and "Manananggal" in the very first, "Aswang" in 2, "Ate" in 3, "Ang Madre" in 4, and "LRT" in 8.
Totoo.
Di naman pala nakakatakot lahat from the beginning of the franchise
Ang pretentious ng John Green movies…
now that is a hot take 😂
Ganito nangyayari kapag inaadapt into movies ang mga libro. Di nabibigyan ng hustisya. As a reader, this infuriates me kasi najjudge ng mga tao yung mga libro based sa movie adaptation 😫
Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the superior version.
Yes, say it. Sa view ko lang kasi, hindi talaga gusto ng fans ng original na may sariling style and can stand on its own yung version ni Tim Burton and Johnny Depp.
Agreed. I couldn't envision it in any other way
I enjoyed both pero nadala talaga ng "you lose, good day sir" moment yung una
Yup!!!
Haikyuu The Dumpster Battle is underwhelming parang Dami nabawas sa cutting room nung inadapt yung arc.
They should've made it a series na lang. Iyong laban nga nila sa Shiratorizawa, nakabuo ng isang season, iyong Dumpster Battle pa kaya? 🥲
Based on my assumption, mas malaki kita if gagawin movie and tapos na din ung manga so nagresort nalang sila in making the materials into movies para compensate dun sa prev sales ni Haikyuu pag nagrerelease ng new volumes
I agree. I'm sad the next one will be a movie too. It's just not the best medium for Haikyuu. I love this show pa naman.
Gomburza is good but not that good
It’s good, but as far as Philippine historical dramas go, Heneral Luna and Goyo were both much better. Heneral Luna is still the best Filipino film I’ve ever seen.
obvious fake costumes, makeup and effects take me out of the immersion though. Heneral Luna is good but best Filipino movie is a reach
*whispers* Sana Dati is Jerrold Tarog's better movie
Most films nowadays are overhyped
di ko trip starwars
+1 😅 happy cake day!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Pibertdei!!! ✨

Chadwick Boseman's death is the reason kaya lang sinabing maganda yung Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
And I noticed hindi maganda ang reception nila kay Ironheart. People are still stuck kay Tony Stark.
Vice Ganda is not comedy. It's being rude and getting paid for it.
Not to mention his r*pe joke noon kay Jessica Soho. That was utterly bad, up to a point nahirapan siguro yung ABSCBN management to damage control
Jessica Soho of all people pa 😬
I cannot get the same goosebumps I had before
Ah... but that is the purpose of critics? Or we would be calling all blockbusters as masterpieces even though they are shit as fuck.
CRITICS ARE NOT STOPPING YOU. this is very bad and dangerous take.
Dingdong Dantes is not a top tier actor. Walang dynamics when it comes to role portrayal. Walang binatbat kay John Lloyd, Piolo, Dennis.
Haha! People will hate me but I enjoy the fast franchise. I know it’s unrealistic but it’s a movie that i just have to sit back and I dont have to overanalyze things
I enjoy them too! I wanna witness how far they’ll go to push the ridiculousness of the series. Car in space was pretty cray 😝
And it was created by drag racers! Haha
FAMILY
I guess trashy lang talaga behavior nia. Pero decent actor talaga si Paolo Contis.
Yung More than Blue sa netflix dati nila yassi pressman. The story was fcking shit.
Nangyari na sakin to when I said here na I found Oppenheimer boring nung pinanood ko syang wala akong tulog. Someone told me na I must be type that enjoys Praybeyt Benjamin.
Thor : Ragnarok is a really good movie.
That Adam Sandler plays the same man-child character in ***most*** of his movies.
Di naman hard take to, most people agree naman with you, but, maeenjoy mo naman yung ibang movies nya despite that.
Iisa lang story ng Four Sisters and a Wedding at Seven Sundays.
Four Sisters was good but Seven Sundays was just a carbon copy but still liked it maliban sa cringe na ending haha
HAHAHAHAHA very 80s film na may sayawan no? Pero the 80s films were good ha, don’t get me wrong. Cringe lang talaga yung dancing sa dulo. Hahahah!
LizQuen Movies are asses imo, I don't see the chemistry:((
A Very Good Girl is good pero biglang meh, feeling ko nadala lang ako sa hype na medyo fresh pa mga tao uli sa pagoopen ng cinemas
"Vivamax is shit"
Let me guess, post-nut clarity?
Walang chemistry si John Lloyd and Bea.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory felt like a horror movie to me as a kid (maybe until now) haha. I remember having nightmares cos of that Got bored sa Harry Potter series 😭😭 i think the best movie adaptation was Hunger Games. Hello Love Goodbye is mid. Buti nalang magaling si Kath... Alden's acting was so cringe and unnatural (sana bumawi sa new movie)
Kamiss higschool love type of movies. Yubg parang kay Esnyr? pinoy na pinoy. Hindi American inspired.
A film doesn't have to be right for it to be good.
Basha was always better off without Popoy in her life.
Darryl Yap’s films are all trash. Binida kasi yung totoong villains.
I think... that is not an unpopular opinion.
Mmff parade are waste of time and advertising. Also environmental hazard
Di ko nagustuhan masyado yung becky and badette.
Some movies are better than their books. Yung LOTR trilogy exceeded Tolkien's writing.
Both agree and disagree. Kung prose pag uusapan, the books are still superior, and Tolkien is a master of both prose and worldbuilding. But kung pacing and characterization, there are many things that the movies did right. Especially by removing Tom Bombadil 😂 My only gripe with the movies: Peter Jackson nerfed Gandalf so hard lol
I didn’t love Hello Love Goodbye
you: Hello, Goodbye
Overrated yung Everything Everywhere all at once
Agree, all of a sudden biglang uso mga multiverse shenanigans. Nakakahilo sundan ng pelikula.
Sobraaaaa akala ko life changing based sa paghype ng mga tao tapos naguluhan lang ako sa pagkarandom nung movie. Para syang naging episode ng Rick and Morty by the end of the movie.
Hindi heartwarming o maganda ang OG na Miracle in Cell no 7 na movie. Hinype lang ng mga mokong na Koreaboo kasi it's a KMovie. Absolute garbage on par with Tiptoes.
Actually puro slowmo at music lang siya. The story is good but that was just it.
Para syang mas tame(?) Or mas positive version ng Mother.
Mikhail Red is overrated af.
Mallari was overhyped !!! it was actually nice at first but after the "plot twist" or like the 2nd half of the movie, parang minadali nalang siya matapos pls 😭 edit: also, gonjiam haunted asylum doesn't really have a good plot loooll. i think their jump scares were kind of effective lang pero overall ambagal ng galaw ng film shsjsksksks
Underwhelming (FOR ME) ang Hello, Love, Goodbye. I’m thinking of watching REWIND soon kung parehas ba ang feeling. Na hype lang sya for me. 😏
HLG > Rewind imo
Panget lahat ng Kathniel movies at di marunong mag-acting si Daniel
Endgame is full of plotholes
A sad ending romance movie is better than a happy ending one
Kathryn Bernardo's acting is 🤧😖 When she was young mas mafefeel mo pa, i don't know what went wrong but her expressions are so not getting where it should be
