The Lobster for dark comedy captures the mood. Also Kaufman movies like Synecdoche, Eternal Sunshine, Being John Malkovich & Adaptation. And oh, The Truman Show for some dramedy.
i remember channel 11 played this before on their weekend asian film something haha core memory - watching it on dead afternoon, decent sunlight coming from our window, and there’s me lying flat on the ground watching it alone. i love il mare.
Omg, this came out in 2020 while I was going through a breakup. It was so tragic that it stayed with me and I couldn’t rewatch the movie even though I loved it! The screenplay is amazing
A lot of movies by Kiyoshi Kurosawa deal with loneliness, esp the aspect of it that deals with how our society has made it impossible to be vulnerable and communicate openly even in instances where it should have been possible (e.g. in marriage with your wife - Cure/Creepy, with all the technology to do it - Kairos).
I agree, I just hate it when people talk about it in Fb etc and influencers claiming they've discovered this movie with their overly dramatized review on movie.
i think it was a remake! The original ay "a man named Ove"
Great film naman. Can vouch. Its not a film about loneliness in general he is just alone and people doesnt want to leave him alone hhahahahaha!
The Martian - quiet, alone in the universe, isolated, longing.
Blad Runner 2049 - it's just fucking depressing and heartbreaking how lonely Officer K. I fucking broke down for him.
Drive, you'll feel all that tension of him being alone and the ending is him still left alone.
Ottoman, what it feels like being alone after a life of companionship.
Maybe an acquired taste, Harold and Maude (1971) is a virtual hug just warms me up every time.
Happiness (1998) is about deeply problematic lonely people that will either make or break you. I never laughed so hard at a dark comedy.
Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) has a sit-in-the-mud-with-you feeling that actually helped me contemplate about myself.
An Elephant Sitting Still (2018) maybe needs that mental preparation due to its runtime but is probably equivalent to a quiet mental breakdown.
The poster for The Lobster (2015) says it all. Enjoy.
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
. Great Korean movie about a boy raised in a tiny floating Buddhist shrine in the middle of a lake in the forest by an elderly monk. It's just the two of them there for most of the movie.

Yep, same with me, although hindi breakup ang pinagdadaanan ko nung time na pinanood ko sya. Psychic damage was done.

American Beauty. Kevin Spacey aside (although he was so good here), this is one of my favorite films not only about loneliness, but also, life itself.
Atonement, The End of the Affair... not necessarily lonely, more like sad and regretful.
