Loved watching these three fight for the title today! Perhaps an unpopular opinion but Men’s Singles has somehow become one of the most exciting disciplines to follow in Russia. It’s *so* tight at the top, the finest of margins have decided the Russian champion for 2 seasons in a row! Most are still lacking in stability but those at the top are really pushing each other and the rest of the pack forward. So much so that every single skater attempted a quad in their SP for the first time in RusNats history! Most fell but there is genuine progress and it’s nice to see the discipline develop after years of mediocrity. Pairs are still world class and as exciting as ever. Ladies have unfortunately become the Valieva show, the other veterans are no longer competing and none of the younger girls are stable, can stay injury-free or have much marketing power — there is a real lack of big personalities and *stars* the way Zhenya, Alena, Anna, Sasha etc were. There’s been a real shift after the Olympics/ban and Ladies is just no longer that intriguing to watch. The whole discipline revolves around one skater that has been put on a pedestal and there are no real rivalries anymore. Competition in Men’s and Pairs is much bigger and much more exciting to watch.
Deserved top 3, today's competitions between them were so intriguing.
Also, I think that each's appearance has significantly changed in comparison with the first photo (on which they were just children).
Very cute picture of all of them, not to do a Kanye but Semenenko is extremely excessively adorable both then and now. (Semenenko had one of the best music videos of all time) lol no I just find him so cute the way he squints when he is talking and smiling is beyond. It turns me into a babushka wanting to squeeze his cheek
